Chapter 8 - Forest

In the morning Sagar got dressed in just some spare clothes that he didn't really wear. He didn't have any sort of armor of anything else of the like but he wasn't too worried about as his skin itself was pretty durable that would grow even greater whenever he used some buffs. The clothes just served their original purpose with Sagar not minding if the get torn from fights that he gets into.

To get to the actual forest Sagar had to walk a good ten minutes before he reached it. While the village itself was surrounded in greenery and was technically inside the forest there was no activity from anything within a certain distance from it. It wasn't till you walked a ways from the village itself that you started seeing signs of danger from the beings in the forest.

The forest itself didn't have a name with nobody seeming to want to give it one maybe because it wasn't too important itself or some other reason. Either way it's not like it mattered what the forest was called to Sagar he just came here to get experience.

Besides that he knew from the system that he had to get into actual battles to be able to get points so that he could use them to buy things from it. All Sagar had to do was beat something or someone in a fight and he'll receive a certain amount of points from the system. Sagar asked the system if he would get a bonus or something alike if he killed his opponent which it confirmed that he would receive more points.

Walking into the forest Sagar kept his guard up and heightened his senses as much as he could. He could send out mana making it act as a sonar of sorts but not only did that expose him to things of equal or greater power than himself it's cost also would become increasingly expensive as the distance covered grew.

Eventually he sensed that something was only a few meters away from him. He felt it's elevation was higher than his own so Sagar leaped into the trees as to not be at a disadvantage and carefully made his way over to the whatever he had sensed. After a couple of seconds Sagar came across the creature which was currently slithering across a nearby tree branch.

The snake itself felt as if something was close to it so it flicked out it's tongue to perceive where it was at. It then looked over and saw that a couple of trees away from it it saw a human child. The snake stopped moving while continuing to stare at the boy to see what he would do. The snake hadn't eaten yet and the boy was a good size, eating him would fill his stomach quite a bit.

Seeing the snake look at him Sagar stayed where he was waiting for it to make it's move on him. The snake itself was only a Novice and Sagar wouldn't have much trouble with him. Usually when encountering something stronger than themselves beasts would choose to flee but Sagar was currently receding his aura just so the snake wouldn't run.

Soon the snake started curling up it's body while maintaining eye contact with him. Sagar was curious about what the snake was doing, was it trying to protect it's body from him. However Sagar didn't have to wait long before energy filled the snake, it then used it's body as a spring to shoot towards Sagar at a fast speed. The power used for this movement caused the branch that it's body was resting to shatter.

Sagar quickly circulated his energy dodging the snakes attack then when the snake's body was passing by him he formed his hand into a claw using some internal energy to sweep out and attack. Before the beast could figure out what was happening it's body was cut in half with it's blood splashing out from it's fatal wounds. Sagar himself darted back to another treetop as he didn't want to get any blood on him giving a scent for others to easily locate him.

The top half of the snake's body was violently wriggling as it drew it's last breath and finally died. With it's passing Sagar received a notification from the system.

[User has gained fifteen points for killing a Novice snake]

Sagar then saw that if he looked in the [Shop] function of the system it would show how much points he had accumulated which was just fifteen as this is the first battle he's been in since he was reborn. He could say proudly that it went without a hitch of course he propped it up to the fact that the opponent was weaker than him while also underestimating him but a victory is a victory.

He then decided he would continue to look around for things that were suitable for him to fight while also finding something for him to bring back to sell in the village. He really didn't have anything that could carry bodies of beasts so he would just find one that he thought would sell for quite a bit and finish off his day with the killing of said beast. He would just quickly carry it out of the forest before something gets interested in eating whatever he killed and make his way back to the village.

For now he mainly wanted to focus on solitary beasts as he didn't want to fight anything that came in packs just yet. He was trying to get better at fighting first, jumping into a pack of beasts would be foolish so anytime he felt that there were some close to him he would just travel in another direction.

As evening was starting to roll around the sound of a battle was coming to an end. It was between a feline creature and a young boy. The creature was badly wounded with it's body shaking struggling to even stand. The boy on the other hand looked fine with patches of his clothes torn in different places but the newest tear was accompanied by a light scratch that was bleeding slightly.

Sagar was trying to find something to kill to end off his day but while he was moving a shadow jumped out and attacked him. While he was able to react to the sudden attack he wasn't able to completely dodge and got nicked by it. Luckily even though the beast was at an Intermediate level bodily defenses were high enough to not allow the beasts claws sink in too deep into his flesh. When the actual battle occurred he was slightly slower than the beast but with two applications of 'sukukaja' he was able to overwhelm it. Besides it's speed there was nothing else of note so Sagar has been beating it down without using moves that would destroy parts of it's body as he intends to sell it.

He then decided to finish off the battle with 'hama' as it would not directly kill the beast. Since it was weak enough Sagar felt it shouldn't be able to fight off it's effects but with it being such a low level spell it took a couple of casts before he was able to kill it.

Looking into the sky Sagar saw that it was starting to get late and he needed to still sell the body. He quickly picked it up and ran back in the direction of the village.
