"You three?!" General Philip Brunts said in a high-pitched voice, feeling exasperated. He had seen the first three people standing in the straight line in front of him up close before, on the first day to be exact. And that was not a beautiful encounter.
Aeon wanted to smile, but he was forcing himself really hard not to. After all, he was in front of the General. He knew full well why the General acted the way he did earlier, and he was actually feeling quite embarrassed which was rare of him. Regardless, he still stared straight without showing the slightest emotion.
Eventually, the General sighed and moved on. He turned towards the rest and said, "There are a total of eighteen of you here. This is a good number. I assume that the other fourteen are current students of our Empire's academies, yes?"
"Sir, yes, sir!" the Colonels behind the line of privates responded.
