While saying those painful words, pearl like tears immediately fell into my pale face. The urge to just cry my heart out was tempting but were still in a public place so I furiously wipe the tears on my face.
"Do not worry my child. You are the most kind and wonderful woman I've ever met, you would surely crack the solid wall my son has built for years" Mom Heline said as she grasp both of my hands and squeeze it tightly.
"Thank you for your support mom" I said while smiling but the sorrow of the past still lingers into my eyes.
"What happened?!"
The voice of Irin abruptly made me aware of my situation right now. What would I say to her? I was panicking into my seat when mom suddenly complained.
"What else would make her cry? It's your brother of course!" Mom Heline said which made the face of Irin blacken.
"That damned brat! I'll be sure to whip him out if I ever see him again!"
Mom just winked at me and squeeze my hands again. Smiling gratefully at her, I turned my head towards the seething Irin.
Poor husband, he was unknowingly subjected to an act made by his own mother.
"Don't be angry now Irin, I'm sure he was doing it for our future and so-"
"For your future?! Then he should stay in your house and be intimate with you to make cute nieces and nephews for me!"
A sudden emotion of pain flashed in my eyes as I immediately flashed a loving smile towards Irin.
"My loveliest and most generous sister-in-law, please calm down, can you do that for your cute and precious Eiri?"
She suddenly laughs and hold my face with her both hands while I remained cute or should I say act cute in front of her.
"Let's get out now before the dark arrives" Mother Heline suggested which made me nod along.
Irin pouts again as she threw silent tantrums towards her mother stating that she wants to have fun. She wanted to stay longer and have fun with me.
"Will that be fine with you?" Mom ask in a concerned tone.
"Yes mom, Irin love me the most" I grinned cheekily at her.
"That's right! Our precious little darling Eiri is treasured by me the most, right?" Irin said in a playful tone in which she made me laugh and nod at the same time.
Mother Heline was fetched by their family's driver and me and Irin were off now to the night market. With her hands snaked up on my arms, we walk along the busy place of the night.
The stars weren't seen that much due to the Tall and enormous buildings in the place. With the lamp post lighting up the place, several stores were opened and the aroma of food wafted into the whole area covered with people. We greedily ate our fill as we watch along the people swarming up the night market which is only two times a week where seen. Different types of people, whether they're alone or not swarmed around the night market filling up the whole area with their own thoughts and emotions.
Suddenly, the sound of the siren made me froze up in my place. The red and blue light combined as it shined brightly through the dark night. The wind pass through me and I shivered uncontrollably but it was unknown whether it was from the cold wind or from fear.
"-ri! Eiri! Hey, are you okay?!" The frantic voice of Orin woke me up from my nightmare.
Or should I say my memory.
"Wh--what?" I said still shaken up.
I didn't even knew that I have sat into the cold ground while Irin shakes my body. I can only stare blankly at her as I tried to recompose myself.
"You were so shaken up you fell into the ground. I tried to call you a few times but you didn't respond! You scared me!" She said in a pitiful voice which made me feel sorry for her.
"I'm sorry, it's just, I fear the sound of the siren" I mumbled out to her.
She clearly haven't heard anything I said due to the fact that there are some people asking her if she needs help. I tug at her hand and mouthed home in which she nodded fast. We walked through the streams of people as she held me for support.
She hailed a cab and came with me to home. I was gratified and ashamed at the same time for giving her problems.
"I'm really sorry for this, it.....it was supposed to be a fun day" I said in regretful tone.
"That's okay, as long as you're fine. Besides, we can do it tomorrow or next week so don't worry about this trifling matters" She reassured me as she opened the door of our house.
I waved at her and she left, leaving me all alone to our house as well as my mind.
Suddenly memories of that night came and I closed my eyes...
