"My friend, that was a lovely speech, but then you are ruining the make up with the tears" I said.
"So are you my friend" she said "Look our husbands are worried" she pointed at both Trevor and J.R.
We hugged and blew kisses to them; they both accumulated them and returned them back differently. Trevor returned it back, but J.R held on to it and placed it on his chest and came approaching me walking slowly. Mercy saw that J.R was coming to me, she too moved to be with his man. Trevor came closer to her and so I came to J.R and we all met half way.
J.R bit his lips slowly as he rubbed his nose with mine. Just when we were enjoying each other's company. The M.C grabbed the microphone and said.
"Ladies and gentleman, the brides and grooms, they are husbands and wife's, they're newlyweds… please people let's give them a round of applause… hey I can see on all directions, to those who aren't clapping their hands, we're also not going to clap our hands at their wedding… right fellas?" the guest's laughed.
"Good people! I would love to take this moment and give it to the brides and grooms to pass on their words of acknowledgements to us 'guests' before they take off to their honeymoon and forget about us!" the guests laughed, am sure their stomachs were painful, all because of this guy.
"Ladies and gentleman! Mr and Mrs Smith… oops did I say Smith? My bad, Mr and Mrs Radebe… another round of applause"
"Ladies first my dear…" said J.R handing the microphone to me.
"Firstly I would love to thank all of you for coming to witness our union, for coming all out in numbers, in all corners, even if it was short notice but you managed to come… thank you we really do appreciate what you have done for us all. To my new parents… Mr and Mrs Radebe, I'd like to thank you for raising me up a wonderful husband, a wonderful man and today I stand proud to be called his wife. Ever since the day he said he loved me, he had never given me a reason of not believing his true feelings for me… my love, I promise to be by your side until the Lord decides to roll this earth back to him again… thank you and I love you." I placed my hand on his chest, looking directly into his eyes. He smiled and slowly pulled me to him. He embraced me.
"Wow! That's one heck of a speech… I hope y'all young ladies are taking notes… over to you Mr Radebe sir" said the M.C.
"When the reverend said this 'from today onwards you are one' he surely meant it… almost everything I wanted to say, my wife has said it all…" he said and the guests laughed. I then leaned on him and caressed his arm. He looked at me with those 'I love you very much' eyes and that made me blush.
See when you truly love someone, you don't have to push very hard or work to realise the love they have for you. My Joseph is everything, any women or girl could dream off. I assume his father's lectures made him to become the man he is today.
"… somehow when we sealed our union with the kissed, everything became one… anyways I also like to give thanks to everybody from the bottom of my heart, for your support, your determination for seeing this joint wedding becoming a success, to my in laws, please don't be shaken or puzzled, I will take good care of her and protect her at all times… to mom and dad, my treasured parents, thank you for everything, when I say everything I mean everything, you know, but most importantly, I'd like to thank you for being there for me through those difficult times I happened to encounter along the way… may the Lord add many more years in your marriage" he concluded.
"Alright then, that means the newlyweds can go and rest now… they're tired and we dancers and movers can bring the house d…" said M.C.
"… What about the Hlatshwayo's…" questioned the guests.
"… come on guys" he said "I know that you love, love quotes and you are good listeners, and now you are reminding me because you want to take notes…" the guests laughed "don't worry I have not forgotten them, can anyone even forget this angels that I'm seeing right here before me?... no and you did not forget them either." They giggled. "so now ladies and gents, can you please give yourselves a warm round of applause for reminding me the newlyweds that I had forgotten… and that you came all out in numbers for free food and booze yes, clap those hands." it was all laughter at the reception.
"So now let's give them a warm full round of applause a big one for Mr and Mrs Hlatshwayo as they come on stage." He said. "Well I must admit it… I'm also grateful for finally getting this opportunity that was given to me… yes the awesome menu and the privilege of dinning with the anointed men of God" some guest's tears were rolling out of their eyes because of laughter and this guy wasn't laughing at all, they went all ballistic laughing their lungs out. He then stood aside just next to Trevor and Mercy and said.
"You actually thought that I was going to leave you guys hanging just like that huh?" he probed placing his hand on Trevor's shoulder.
"We knew that you wouldn't forget us… by the way, you are one good master of ceremony, and you should get an award for that…" Trevor venerated, before he could finish his line, the M.C cut through his line.
"…see I like people who think just like you do" he said "you and I could go places… one more time ladies and gentleman let's give them another round of applause, Mr and Mrs Hlatshwayo."
"I'll go first" said Trevor "I'm sorry about the ladies first new modern ways, I'm an African a true African… see now I never thought, I would end up saying my words of acknowledgement, I just wanted to greet you guys… come on love you know I would never stood you up… I do respect the modern ways 'ladies first'… you say everything. Everything you would say also comes from me"
"Ncoooh" gestured the guests.
"Thank you, first and foremost importantly, I want to give thanks to my parents and my in-laws… and now I want to give thanks to this wonderful couple, standing right next to us, if it wasn't for them, perhaps I wouldn't be standing here today saying this words and have been wedded to this wonderful husband of mine, it is certainly true that the Lord works in miraculous ways and that miracle was when Lindy walked into my life, I thank you my dear friend. Please go on and be a wonderful wife to your husband and I'll do the same on Mr Hlatshwayo here…" she spoke facing our direction, with her cheeks visiting her ears. By looking at her you could tell that she was over joyed, her eyes shone bright, with the light that sparkled through her face. Indeed Trevor was a lucky man to marry my friend.
"Ncoooh, thank you my friend" I appreciated blowing a kiss to her.
