"A jealous person spotted," Maika said.
"Maika."
Kouta commented. It annoyed her how he didn't even appear surprised to see her.
"Who's jealous?"
"Clearly you."
Kouta exhaled deeply, "Well maybe it is. Maybe it isn't."
Maika surprised at his words... She wasn't expecting him to admit it; what happened a couple of days ago must have shocked him. "Can you guys not cause trouble for one second?"
"That's true. Thanks for the help."
She had spotted that fool by the entrance and teleported him to the hallway, he did the rest and dashed in to save the blue hair girl on time. "Had I not been around, I doubt even that guys brute energy would have gotten him there in time."
Kouta nodded and bowed to her.
... Idiot.
She doesn't need to be thanked.
"You're the only one I know who would wear the winter uniform blazer..."
Kouta commented.
Maika sighed deeply, "I went through great lengths to change that stuffy uniform, so at least let me wear the complete set."
Maika wore a silver top with dark blue string laced down the middle with gold studs and lining. Over it is a purple textured jacket with sleeves ending inches beneath the elbow. The torso is lined in gold, with a dark blue pocket lined in white on each side, accent by a purple and gold button. The sleeve cuff is dark blue with a gold pattern around the middle. The collar is dark blue with gold lining and a white tip at each corner, and further down is the pale cream lapel, which has gold detail at each corner.
"That's true, you were strangely insistent on it."
"..."
He's trying to change the topic again. Though he's normally so calm and collected. When it comes to that girl, he's different.
"Kouta."
"What?"
"Why are you still holding yourself back?"
Maika asked.
"What are you talking about?"
Maika sighed, "Don't feign ignorance with me."
Laughter escaped Kouta's lips, "That's right, you know me well."
Her cheeks flushed slightly. This idiot, brooding one second and then smiling the next. "Is that girl really..."Maika asked.
"You noticed when you bumped into her right? I won't deny."
"I see."
"Her singing has changed, it's become sort of stale. That's why I found it hard to believe that it's really her."
"So, what convinced you?"
Kouta asked.
"The songs she wrote for the rest of you."
Even if the girl's own songs don't contain the same tone as before, she can see it in the songs she writes for others. Still, he really is naive, isn't he? What happened to properly watching over her?
Besides it's not like there's anything really wrong with the songs she writes now.
"Is she dating Karashima Haruka?" Maika asked.
At that comment, Kouta frowned.
"No."
"But she likes him."
"That's not for sure."
So that means there is something. Well, it's none of her business.
.
.
What a foolish man, he didn't even notice that she already spoke to the girl earlier. Maika exhaled deeply, the last thing that was on her mind was the present shoot. She was clearly making mistakes too. However, the photographer showered her with endless praise. What a complete change in attitude, to back then. It's normal, for people in society to suck up to another person due to the status of their wealth.
No matter how much you try to be a good person, there will always be those who are willing to take advantage of another person. A photographer is a man like that. He's a person who got to where he was today not through hard work and effort, but through bribery and manipulation.
Had it not been for Kouta, the Maika in the past would have most likely turned into that sort of person. But she met him and changed. Before she met him, she was arrogant. She didn't care much about others.
Maika recalled the numerous times where she simply passed by whenever someone was in need of help. As young as she was, she didn't participate in her families bribes or the squabbling of the rich. A young socialite like herself was spoilt and spent money without a single care in the world.
It did not help that her status of a hanyou was also of a rare breed. Considering how the Terashima family and Austin family held a monopoly in that department; even long before she was born. Her family spoiled her to no end, in hopes that their precious daughter would help alter the balance of power.
When she was first introduced to Kanehera Kouta, it was during the first signs of her manifesting a great power that she could not control. Contrary to the parents who spoilt her since she was young and desperately wanted her to have great powers. The moment she got them, instead they were filled with fear. From that point onwards she was no longer their beloved daughter but a monster instead.
