Everything was dark. But when I opened my eyes to see my old room when I was little. My bed was covered with stuffed animals and I smelled bacon in the air. But this day was all too rememberable, the day everything went wrong. Mom and Dad were downstairs talking about something, but it got heated after a while. Mother was screaming and yelling about how dad was a bastard about wanting a divorce. She was known to be controlling everything in our lives, but she cared back then. So when I went down to see what was going on. When I have gotten there to see her throwing a bottle towards the door as dad left. I was scared for my life, but when mother looked at me like I was useless in her eyes.
"You little Slut!" she screamed at me.
I didn't know what to do at the time as I ran out the door. The only place I would run to was the old train tracks. To me, it was a place that was away from my mother and how she would act at these times. But I never thought that I would be alone after dad left. He would normally come back home, but he didn't today. He left me alone with a monster of a mom as she drank none stop. The place that normal children would call home was gone for me. Tears and the fear of being alone taken over me at a young age. I was beaten black and blue and no one saw what was wrong.
Slut, bitch, useless, nothing, and other words were all I heard in my head. Walking a lonely path without love or a way to talk about it. My friends would be too busy with their lives and my mother drank her's away. I learned that cutting made me feel better from this pain as no one would save me. So I hid in my own darkness for the rest of my life. The sound of a voice came from my head as I walked around. Saying my name over and over as the world shook as tears ran my face.
"Caroline!" the voice called.
"Who's there?" I called back.
Nothing happened as I fell to the ground and my eyesight went black. Looking around as I felt the cold ground. The voice called me to wake up as I knew I was sleeping. So I forced myself up as light blinded my eyes. The sight of the blue sky was slowly turning black as night started to settle. Work was about to begin as I saw James over me, smiling.
"Sorry that I fell asleep." I yawned.
"It's fine, but you should get home." he smiled, but I knew that the bar needed me tonight.
"Sorry, but I got work tonight," I replied and got up from the ground. Taking his hoodie off I gave it back to him with a smile. But all he did was give it back, telling me that I looked cute in it. I was shocked that he wanted me to keep it, but I didn't get the chance to make him keep it. He was in his car and head home with no worries of being harrassed that night.
