It took me a bit to get to Milo's and Jack's bar, but I could see that it was packed again. Music was playing as I checked in and started to take orders. A part of me wish I could quit, but I needed the money to keep the house in shape. So taking the pain from this job was easy for me. The feeling of being tired took over as I walked sluggishly around the bar. There was only a couple of guys who flirted with me, but it was less than normal.
"Hey Caro!" one of my co-workers said, "Are you feeling okay?"
"Just been tired lately," I answered and tried to continue working, but slowly came to a close.
"I'll take your shift for a couple of days." she smiled and pushed me to the door. The thought of taking a break made me shiver, but I didn't want to come home to mother. She was either still at home or one of the guys she sleeps with. The choice was that I had to go home and it was near the bridge. Never thought of the pain of walking home, but the feeling grew with every step. But the thought of hanging around the tracks, till mother leaves made me feel better. So I walked down the tracks, but a smell caught my attention. The area had a few houses and tracks, but the smell was awful as it has gotten closer.
It came from a pile of trash where most teenagers leave, but it was worst there. The smell of death was in the air as rats came from there. Cover to what seemed to be blood, so I had to look closer. But regret came over as I have seen two bodies, both female and around my age. The only people who were missing were Marry and Lize, but I could tell who they were. Their skin was falling as maggots ate like it was nothing. But one thing stood out, one of their skulls shined in the light of the moon. I felt like I was in a horror movie as I ran to the nearby houses.
I screamed for help and knocked on doors, but no one spoke a thing to me. But one door open as a little old lady came out with a worried look. She didn't know what was going on, but I need to call the police about this.
"What is the matter young one?" she asked.
"I need to call the police." I tried to mutter in a calm voice but failed.
"Alright, but what happened?" she asked.
"I...I..." I tried again and failed.
"Alright you don't need to tell me, but I'll call them," she replied a little annoyed.
"There's bodies near the tracks!" I spat out as my skin shivered. The old lady understood that I was shaking as she called the police. She might have thought that I was crazy, or that I was telling the truth. Sitting there made me worry about the bodies being moved, but who put them there. Someone would have called about this or even complained about the smell. The only thing I could think was that the bodies were moved there at some point today. Who in their right mind would keep two bodies and them get rid of them went they were rotting from off their bones.
The sounds of sirens came close to the woman's house as she gave me a cup of tea. The knocking came soon after as she opened the door. Mr. Mick came in to see me shaken in fear, but at the same time, I want to figure this mess out. He wanted to know where did I find these bodies and if they are still there. Taking them was the smell raised in the air as if it was alive, but soon they found the bodies. I felt sick but wasn't going to ruin their crime scene, but I was forced out of the area. Forced to take statements of what happened. All I did was tell them that I was walking from work at Milo's and Jack's bar. They seemed to think I was lying but was debunked as Mick called the bar. I wasn't for sure if I should go home after this or stay up all day tomorrow.
They wanted me to stay to make a report on what I saw that night and why I was out there. Pulled to a car as I was placed in the backseat. What I have seen was scary as my shin shivered, but a part of me clicked. I wonder what caused them to be killed and who did this in the first place. I didn't see anything that would be the show who was the killer, but what stuck with me was that they were my age. I don't think I'll be able to talk about this to anyone, but knowing that I'll be in the news and paper. The idea of staying at the station all night made me tired.
I looked at the front seat to see Mick settling down. He looked at me with distaste as I was the one who did this. He was a friend of my father, but he always thought I was a trouble maker. But I could tell that he cared, but no one would know the abuse inside. When the car started to move, everything flashed by as we headed to the station. It was near the old catholic church and Value Store.
When we got there in ten minutes from where I was before made my heart pound. Was I going to be blamed for these murders or making me a suspect? So when the door opened and I stepped out and walked into the station.
"Lighten up kid," Mick spoke up from behind me.
"What?" I questioned.
"You not in trouble," he sighed as I followed him to his office. I looked around to see a photo of him and my dad getting along. But there were some of his family, but all I saw was his kids. I wonder what happened to his wife, but I didn't want to bring it up. So when he started to ask questions about what happened that night. All I told him about how I left early from work because of the lack of taking care of myself. But it made him concerned when I told him that I walked home slowly to be away from my mother. And the rest to me was a nightmare as they moved the bodies to find clues. But soon the news will spread to the school and the rest of town.
