Chapter 50 - A Clash of Heroes

Lu Xiongnan slowly walked out of the shadows that had concealed his body. Smiling mirthlessly, he glared at his opponent.

A boy suited in jet-black armor stood in front of him. He smirked at Lu Xiongnan's glare.

"Thinking about your defeat?" he chortled with the arrogance of a returning champion.

Lu Xiongnan said nothing. He simply tensed his body, as if anticipating a strike.

His opponent smiled and laughed.

"Afraid of me? You should be!" he crowed.

A dangerous aura began to leak from the boy.

"GO KIRIN!!!" loud voices yelled from the stands.

Fang and the Supreme Sword Saint, Jing Siwang frowned. The referee, seeing their faces, gulped. Waving his hand he created a sound barrier around the stands, from which no sound could escape.

Kirin Yang looked at his opponent and glared fiercely at Lu Xiongnan's calm demeanor.

Lu Xiongnan's eyes flashed.

Within seconds he blurred and reappeared behind Kirin Yang. The crowd gasped.

"What speed...." an audience member murmured.

Jing Siwang's eyes narrowed.

"This boy... is not bad... not bad at all...," he murmured to himself.

Glancing uneasily at Fang, he began to wonder why such a great master had come here. Could it have anything to do with this boy?

Fang simply looked like he was enjoying himself. The cool breeze blew through his hair and he smiled mysteriously. This boy was perfect.

Kirin Yang, meanwhile, glared at his opponent.

"Stop dancing around!" he roared.

"Come and fight me like a real man!"

Lu Xiongnan stared at him, not responding to the provocation. Sighing resignedly, he cracked his knuckles.

Staring at Kirin Yang, he cocked his head and smiled again.

There was a sonic boom and Kirin Yang exploded, spraying red blood everywhere. It looked as if his blood had splattered out everywhere, forming a crimson rose on the dusty battleground.

'WHAT!?!? How could he do that?!?! Is such a godly technique even possible???' Jing Siwang thought, his mind running with possibilities and shivers running up his spine as he looked at the youth.

The crowd leaped to their feet in an uproarious yell.

"WHAT IS THIS?"

"Oh god?!? WHAT DID HE DO?"

Only Fang was unaffected by this shocking display of power and precision.

Standing up, he raised his hand to silence the crowd. They sat back down, waiting for his next few words that would explain the situation.

Fang smiled slowly.

"Very good," he spoke, addressing Lu Xiongnan.

Lu Xiongnan stared up at him.

"You realized that the armor that Kirin Yang was wearing was the Dark Viper's Scale Armor, which has a corrosive field around it. If you had fought with him at close range and the fight drew on, you would lose due to the acidic effect. Therefore you tested his speed and reaction time when you moved the first time. You were also gathering your energy to make your final attack: this is also the path of true assassination. Then you rushed in and implanted a small bit of your aura on his armor. As soon as you were safely out of the range of explosion, you detonated it. Wonderful!" Fang explained, while smiling and praising Lu Xiongnan with shining eyes.

Lu Xiongnan frowned. He had not expected anyone to understand his strategy, much less perceive it. Who was this man?

'This... this... Master Fang is too good..." Jing Siwang thought, internally screaming.

The kind of mental pressure that these two people exuded was simply mind boggling. He could not hope to match up to their caliber even if he cultivated for the rest of his life. Sighing resignedly, he sat back down. He had lost this battle of wits.

Fang smiled and floated down to the arena. Smiling he approached Lu Xiongnan. The latter stared at him with a curious look in his eyes.

Fang raised his hand and patted Lu Xiongnan on the shoulder, discreetly activating his skill.

[Detecting System]

[Acquiring System]

[System Acquired]

[Failed to assimilate]

[Does host wish to save system for future assimilation?]

Fang nearly stumbled upon seeing such a notification. Stopping himself, he returned to his stands.

"I have seen all I need to. I shall take your leave now," he spoke with finality.

Ignoring the protests of the others, he rushed out of the stadium as fast as he could.

Entering the forest, he sat down.

'Okay.. WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN?' he screamed internally at the system.

[I told you before. This system... you may have stolen it from the owner, but it's still going to be hard to truly assimilate it]

Fang frowned.

[Fang... I'd like to introduce you to the supreme system of justice: Seraph's Will System. don't worry, he won't be able to detect your presence unless you wil it]

A golden light flooded Fang's brain. It exuded waves of holy aura and roared with anger.

[LET ME OUT OF HERE! NOW!]

The system roared in Fang's mind as he groaned.

'Why can't it ever be easy?' he lamented.
