Chapter 1 - Ch. 1 - Ms. Artemis Clemonte

Wearing her black bodycon dress with a white blazer on her shoulders and a red heels to complete her look, Artemis Clemonte, 28 years old, walked down the ground floor of AC Apparel. It was his father's company that she helped with for the past months after she quitted being a celebrity. She was now the new vice president of the company.

She handled the marketing department along with her father's trusted manager, Chris.

As she walked to the elevator, the employees whom she passed by kept on greeting her. It was still early in the morning yet everyone was so polite to her.

Just a few months that she was assigned the role of the vice president but she was titled as a terror woman in the company.

Some looked up to her because of her strict discipline but others looked up to her like she was the new face of evil.

But she didn't care. All she cared was that she was doing it all for the sake of the company and for her dad, too.

When she became a part of the company, the company's status was on a verge of bankruptcy. But thanks to her that AC company coped up and survived the near-death situation.

Artemis Clemonte, was the only daughter of Archer Clemonte. That made her the only successor. But before she engaged herself into business, she was once a famous child actress and became a multi-awarded actress as she grew up. She went by the screen name Diana Abbott.

She got the role as a vice president easily and so the investor's hearts since she graduated having a degree in Economics in States. And ever since she was young, she was also trained by her father about business.

She might still be young but she did her job like a veteran already. What she sacrificed during her younger years was all paid off since she became a promising and successful woman on her generation.

Because she just quitted the showbiz industry for exactly three months, thay was why the media and reporters were almost everywhere around her. They secretly took a picture of her, wherever and whenever she went, and made some false articles over and over again.

Well, it wasn't new to her. She has been the media's "apple of their eye" ever since. Even inside the company, gossips about her were everywhere.

She sat down and studied the documents above her desk when someone knocked and came in. It was Mr. Craig, her father's secretary.

"Mr. President wishes to see you now," he said as she finished her greeting.

She nodded. "Okay,"

On their way to the office, someone bumped at her. She looked at it and it was a tall man with some nerdy looks. His clothes were shabby.

"I'm sorry," he apologized, not looking her in the eyes. "I was in a hurry---"

"And so?" she coldly interrupted. "Even if you're in a hurrry, you should look at where you're going." Then, she left. Mr. Craig followed her.

When they reached the president's office, Mr. Craig knocked thrice and announced that she was there before opening the door.

"My daughter..." her father greeted her lovingly and gave her a peck on the cheeks. "Have a seat and Craig..."

"Yes, Mr. Clemonte?" he attentively asked.

"Give us some tea. The other one is with milk," he instructed then, his secretary left at once.

"How's your job so far, Artemis?"

"Challenging," she answered and looked around his office.

She never went inside her father's office so it was new to her eyes. The interior design was different from hers. Her father's office really gave off a vibe of a president of a company.

The tea arrived and Mr. Craig placed it above the coffee glass table in front of them. The one with milk went to her.

"Do you want to have a welcoming party thought it might be a bit late already? I didn't get the chance to throw you one since I was out of the country for the last two months," he stated.

Since they were facing a crisis, her father came in and out of the country to have a meeting with different investors. He needed to go to where the investors are to persuade them.

"It's fine, father. I'm good,"

"Are you sure?"

She sighed as she looked at him. "Yes, dad."

They enjoyed their tea in silence. Artemis was the type of person who just like to be silent. She's the quiet type yet observant.

"By the way, I read some articles about you," her father started.

She sipped her tea as she looked at her dad.

"There were too many articles about you. Mostly. bad articles," he added.

She listened carefully.

Well, she accepted the fact that there were too many bad articles about her. Whether she was a celebrity or a vice president. She's gotten used to it. All of it were false anyway. Why would she even give a damn about it?

"The worst article was about you and me. It said that you're my woman that's why you instantly quit being a celebrity to be a vice president of AC Apparel."

She paused by what she heard. She expected worst articles but that kind of a worst article had made her speechless.

The medias were truly some unbelievable jerks. They tend to make up some stories just to satisfy what they needed to write or report.

"It became like this because I've never officially announced you as my daughter. I should've done it the moment I gave you the position," he said, expressing his worries and blaming his self.

"You will officially announce me on the 30th founding anniversary of AC as planned so don't worry about this. It's not even true at all," she assured her father.

"And how about appointing you an assistant and bodyguard, Artemis? I'm worried for your safety now."

She shook her head. "I'm fine by myself."

After their talk, Artemis went back to her office to prepare for a meeting. But as she entered the office, she saw a suspicious box above her desk.

She uncovered the box and an ugly doll with some fake blood splattered on its face and a distracting laugh echoed in her office.

"Miss Artemis," Mr. Craig entered the room to deliver some documents was paused once he saw the doll she was holding. "Where...does it come from?"

She shrugged and put the doll back inside the box and covered it.

Mr. Craig immediately called the security department to report the situation.

"They are now reviewing th CCTV to know who put that box here and threatened you," he said and got the box.

"Threat?" she murmured.

It was the first time someone threatened her that she was a vice president already.

"Don't worry. We'll catch the culprit for this,"

She nodded and sat down. She saw the new documents that Mr. Craig put down on her desk and read it.

As if nothing happened, she went to the marketing department and walked bossily inside towards the one person who caught her attention for the month.

"G-Good morning, VP Artemis," they greeted in chorus.

But her focus was on the person in front of her. And she said without hesitation to the person,

"You're fired," she announced then walked out of the marketing office.

She left them shocked on what she said.
