Do Mi went up to the dock and saw her son and daughter-in-law kissing. She was so happy she got to see that. The kiss they shared in front of everyone seemed awkward and forced. She called out to the couple that it was time to go. They quickly looked at her and let go of each other. Awkward expressions on their faces.
When Ha Eun and Chang Wook arrived back to the house and went to the bedroom they didn't know what to say. After that kiss they didn't really exchange any pleasantries.
"Should I sleep in the bed?" Chang Wook asked himself. He glanced at Ha Eun but to him she didn't seem at all nervous, though she was very nervous indeed.
"Should I invite him to the bed?" she asked herself. She quickly glanced over at Chang Wook, but he was looking at a painting that was on the wall. He was obviously trying to avoid her, at least that's what she thought
"I shouldn't have let him kiss me" she thought to herself "If I knew we would be stuck in this type of atmosphere I wouldn't have even danced with him. We were already awkward enough, now its even worse"
Ha Eun made her way to the closet to get some clothes then headed to take a shower. Chang Wook took that opportunity to sit on the bed and sigh "Why am I being like this?" he asked himself "We're married yet I'm acting like a middle schooler that just got his first girlfriend"
Chang Wook wondered if he could even call Ha Eun his girlfriend. He can technically call her his wife but without any love, it means nothing since they were just married for appearances. But after that kiss, could Ha Eun actually like him?
As Ha Eun took a shower she couldn't get that kiss out of her head. What is the nature of their relationship now? They are technically married but, are they dating?
She knew she had to draw a line somewhere. They were married for appearances, there wasn't supposed to be any feelings behind it but after that kiss things seem to have changed. She's taking longer with her shower hoping that after she leaves the bathroom Chang Wook would be sleeping.
Chang Wook at the moment was still on the bed but he was asleep. His worrying and overthinking caused him to drift off into sleep. When Ha Eun left the bathroom and saw him there on the bed with his tuxedo still on she felt relieved but also wondered if she should sleep on the floor but there's no telling if his family will barge in on them again, so there's no choice but to sleep in the same bed.
She gently takes off his shoes and unties his tie. She doesn't want to take anything else off worrying that she'll wake him up, so she covers him with a blanket, turns off the lights and goes to sleep.
...
The next morning Chang Wook was surprised to see Ha Eun right next to him. He couldn't believe he dozed off, he wanted to talk to her about their relationship and what they were going to do next but looking at her sleeping face made his worries disappear.
"I'll just stare at her for a while longer" he thought to himself and wondered how he never noticed how beautiful his boss truly was. He knew she was pretty, anyone could tell but she was truly beautiful. She had long eyelashes and her lips where so pink and glossy it looked like she was wearing lipstick. He thought back to when he kissed it.
"I kissed those lips" he thought. A redness covered his face. He noticed her stur and he took that as a sign to get out of the bed before she opened her eyes and start packing his stuff.
Ha Eun opened her eyes and noticed Chang Wook at the foot of the bed packing his things. The one thing he didn't know was that Ha Eun woke up way before him and just like he was looking at her, she was looking at him.
She wondered how she never noticed how handsome he was and disliked herself a little for never taking the time to get to know him. When she felt Chang Wook stir she closed her eyes in a panic then she could feel Chang Wook looking at her. She was so embarrassed about having to talk with him that she remained with her eyes closed, after a while of feeling his breathing on her she decided to move a little and with that she felt him get up from the bed. It seemed like he was also embarrassed as well.
Chang Wook noticed her eyes on him, but he didn't say anything "Why did I get up? I should have stayed there and greeted her. We've known each other for years and its not like she's my first kiss yet I'm acting like such a kid" Chang Wook was mentally hitting himself.
"Good morning" Ha Eun said to him. Chang Wook felt a sudden sense of relief and as soon as he heard that he answered with a good morning as well, but it was quite loud, which surprised both of them.
"Today is your mom's birthday" Ha Eun said. Chang Wook was shocked, he almost forgot about his mother's birthday and he didn't even get her a present. He came just for that, yet he spent the whole week worrying about getting married.
Ha Eun got up and looked in her purse. She showed Chang Wook a small box with a necklace and earrings.
"I got her something right after we left the civil affairs building. You know the one, right? Where you made me get down on my knees"
Chang Wook had almost forgotten about that and now he started to feel guilty. He did that to the girl he liked but in his defense, at that time, he hated her and neither of them were on as good terms.
She chuckled "Your face is adorable" she told him "Relax, I'm just teasing you" He was surprised by this. She always made his life a living hell, she never teased him before. She handed him the box with the necklace and earrings, then headed to the bathroom. Her words and actions made him blush.
She took his mother into consideration, stood up to his father and he could tell that even when she put on a mean face, during this whole week, she actually had fun. He knew now that he always judged her without actually knowing the whole story of her. There was so much more beneath the person she always showed the people at work and on the news. He thought that if she had shown this cute side of her's from the beginning, he would have long ago fallen for her and wouldn't have put up much of a fight when she told him to marry him.
As the day went by, everyone congradulated the couple during Do Mi's birthday party. Of course, she didn't mind. Her only son was finally married and to such a wonderful woman at that. Do Mi received the box from Chang Wook and her daughter-in-law, she felt so honored. Her daughter-in-law took her into consideration before they arrived here.
She hugged Ha Eun. Ha Eun though, felt a bit uncomfortable but a warm, fuzzy feeling was tugging at her heart. She wondered, when was the last time she got a hug from a mother figure?
"No need to hold back, I'm your mother too" Do Mi told her. Ha Eun's uncomfortable feeling left, and she almost felt like crying. Wrapping her arms around Do Mi she wished her a happy birthday.
Chang Wook tapped his mother and Ha Eun on the shoulder "Can I borrow my wife for a second?" he asked his mother. Do Mi chuckled and left them to talk.
"What's wrong?" Ha Eun asked him.
"I want you to meet someone" he told her "I promised that person to introduce you before I did anyone else. Sadly, that person is going to be the last one"
Ha Eun had no idea what he was talking about but, he had a saddened expression on his face which he tried to hide with a smile. She knew that person must be important. Maybe a distant family member?
"Well, the best for last" Ha Eun said with a smile. Chang Wook messed her hair. She chuckled "Stop!" she said.
"Shall we?" Chang Wook asked her as he stuck out his arm. Ha Eun wrapped her arm around his and nodded.
"We shall"
