Han Soo walks towards the next hole, leaving Ha Eun behind. How will she fix this? She needs to keep her job and she already promised to give Chang Wook a promotion, if she backs out now she's done for anyways.
Her only way to get out of this is to change Han Soo's mind.
Han Soo prepares to hit the ball and it goes in the hole, effortlessly.
"Father-in-law" Ha Eun doesn't prepare to hit the ball but, looks at Han Soo in a serious manner "It might seem weird to you that I'm dating your son. He's never introduced me to you or spoken about our relationship, but I like him. I like your son, very much"
Ha Eun is lying but she felt like there's a certain truth to her words.
"Is that so?" he asks. Ha Eun nods "What do you like about that boy?" Han Soo's grip on his club tightens.
"He never does what he's told, his head is always up in the clouds, he runs away when things get tough and he is so soft, even a beating won't get him to harden" Han Soo looks to the side "Our business needs rough people, not someone as weak as him but, he's the only successor"
Ha Eun feels like she's about to explode. Chang Wook's own father is talking like that about his only child. Ha Eun hasn't had the best childhood either but she feels like she has to stand up for him.
"I don't know how Chang Wook was in the past, but the one you are describing is nothing like the one I've come to love" Ha Eun says "And calling him soft?" Ha Eun scoofs at that "Softeness is not weakness. It takes a lot of courage to remain delicate in a world as cruel as this one" Ha Eun drops the golf club and walks back to the country club.
She stops herself and walks back to Han Soo "And by the way. I am not accepting your deal. I am going to marry your son whether you like it or not and because of your words, I am even more fired up to give him a promotion"
Ha Eun leaves Han Soo on his own and decides to take a cab back home. On the cab ride she realizes that she just disrespected Chang Wook's father and she will be seeing him again later during the day when he gets back home. She feels a little embarrassed now.
"He was rude to me, its only natural for me to be rude to him. I shouldn't worry too much" she said, trying to convince herself that she shouldn't apologize.
...
Ha Eun arrives at the house to see Chang Wook in the kitchen with his mom. They are cooking together. She wonders what it would have been like if rather than his mom, that would have been her. If rather than hugging Mi Jin, he would hug her…she quickly composes herself.
"The longer I stay here the weirder I get" Ha Eun thinks to herself "Its been a few days already. The wedding is supposed to be in two days, and we leave the next day"
Ha Eun walks back to the room and goes to the veranda, looking out into the ocean. After her conversation with that man, although she doesn't want to lose her job, a sense of guilt rushes over her. She's made Do Mi and Soo Ryun believe that Chang Wook and her are in love, she's made the board and even the Chairman believe she was getting married and announced she's in a relationship to the whole world by just posting one picture.
Thinking of Chang Wook, she whispers "Am I ruining your life?"
Ha Eun feels a blanket cover her and sees a cup of hot cocoa in front of her. She turns her head and sees Chang Wook smiling at her. She thanks him and takes the cup.
Chang Wook wonders who she was talking about when she mentioned ruining a life. He wondered if she was talking about him.
"Something must have happened between them" Chang Wook thought to himself. By the look on Ha Eun's face, she seemed sad but, he's never seen her like that before. This is new territory for him.
"Seems like you had a pleasant conversation with my father" Chang Wook said trying to keep a coold atmosphere, maybe this will get her out of her slump.
"Yes. He's a very charming man" she said. Chang Wook chuckled.
"Want to tell me what happened?" he asked her. Ha Eun wondered if it was a good idea to tell him. If she told him she was having second thoughts about this marriage and wanted to void it, will he agree with her? Taking a sip of the hot cocoa she shakes her head.
Knowing his father, Chang Wook could only guess that he probably tried to drive a wedge between him and Ha Eun "At least answer me this one thing" Chang Wook asked. Ha Eun looked at him "Did you hit him?"
Ha Eun gasped at this "What kind of person do you think I am? I'm not as stupid as to hit and elder!"
"There she is" Chang Wook chuckled "You didn't seem all that lively, so I was worried you got cold feet" Chang Wook told her with a smile.
Ha Eun was surprised by this. He was the one that didn't want to marry her. Chang Wook noticed how her face became slightly red. He thought her surprised expression was really cute, especially when she looked away and took a gulp of her cocoa.
She didn't answer with a witty comment so the thought that her surprised expression was actually one of discomfort made him worry.
"I really want that promotion" he added, forcing a chuckle. Ha Eun looked back at him. She was slightly disappointed by this. For a second she though he actually wanted to marry her. She shoved him and gave him a grin.
"What? You think I'm not good at keeping promises?"
"I just know that you're good at finding loopholes" Ha Eun chuckled at his comment.
"Oh. I forgot to tell you. My dad isn't coming back home tonight" Chang Wook told her "Whatever you guys talked about. I'm sure you came out the victor"
Ha Eun smiled but she didn't feel like a winner.
"Now, come back inside. I don't want you getting a cold" he said as he put both his arms on Ha Eun's shoulders and took her back into the room.
Ha Eun sat on the bed while Chang Wook sat beside her. He didn't know what else to say. Suddenly Do Mi came in.
"Great news!" Do Mi said, "We can have the wedding at sea" She was so excited. Chang Wook and Eun Ha were surprised. Ha Eun was trying to wrap her head around what 'at sea' meant. It couldn't literally mean, at sea. Chang Wook on the other hand, sighed.
"Mom, we are not getting married in the ocean. That's what you and dad did" Chang Wook told her.
"But a wedding at sea is so romantic" Do Mi said with a sad expression on her face. Chang Wook can't win against those
"Mom, Ha Eun doesn't know how to swim"
"That's what boats are for" Do Mi said, "Ha Eun doesn't mind, right?" she looked over at her daughter-in-law "A wedding at sea is so romantic"
Ha Eun chuckled "You are definitely Chang Wook's mother" she said, "I'll do it" Do Mi cheered then left the room.
Chang Wook looked at Ha Eun worriedly "You don't like the water. Why did you agree?"
Ha Eun shrugged "I'm doing it for you"
Chang Wook felt his heart skip. Ha Eun never worried about anyone or took anyone into consideration. Just those words made him feel like he, in some way, was special to her.
Ha Eun noticed how Chang Wook's face became a little red. She wondered if that comment made him feel a bit uncomfortable, so she saved herself by saying "I already got into an argument with your father. It'll be bothersome if I get into an argument with your mother"
Chang Wook felt a bit disappointed by that, though he knew he shouldn't. Their marriage isn't supposed to be based on love but since they got here he's managed to see a whole new side to Ha Eun. A side that drove him crazy but also made his heart skip.
"The sooner we are done with this, the better" Chang Wook told himself. He got up and left Ha Eun in the bedroom, telling her to get some rest. She nodded.
