The room in which she was shown was large. It had tall glass walls that seemed to engulf all the darkness in the corners. Reagan was used to darkness but not to the transparency that prevailed in Bartoli Corporation. She looked down at her attire to take in the slate blue pencil skirt and pale pink blouse. She believed it to be sophisticated enough for the interview but when she laid eyes on the secretary she started doubting herself. The woman with the dark hair who had led her to the waiting room was older than her but also more elegant than she could pretend to be. She had a graceful appearance about her which Reagan couldn't imitate even if she wanted to. She had worked hard to get this job and she had to crack the interview.
An hour later the same dark-haired woman came out to tell her that she had been selected. Reagan couldn't help her jaw from dropping. This couldn't be real. She hadn't even met her future boss. Where were the harassment and the judgmental stares at the length of her skirts? Where was the giant panel of greying lawyers?
"I am sorry but I am waiting for my interview. I haven't gone in yet," she informed with a red face.
"I know, Kid. You will get used to the boss and his strange ways. For now, go home. Show up tomorrow sharp at 8 and I shall be showing you all the ropes before I take my maternity leave," the older woman ordered and Reagan found herself nodding. As she walked towards the elevator she saw a leggy brunette walk out of a door on the far end of the hallway. She had a smirk on her face and an air about her that spoke of authority. If the dark-haired woman was intimidating she was downright scary. The brunette walked towards the elevator and signalled for her to hold the door once Reagan had stepped inside. However, Reagan did not wish to be in the same confined space at her.
Stella tilted her head in surprise as the elevator door closed in her face. She could always take the other one but she had noticed that the elevator contained only one person. She also noticed that the person was none other than Reagan Adams. Stella could already feel that their dynamic was going to be interesting.
