Chapter 19 - INSTINCTS

There was sounds of movement coming from Amanda's kitchen that made her stir in bed even before her alarm went off. Thinking it would go away she pulled the bed covers over her head but it didn't stop.

Getting out of bed a little sleepy but still more rested than she had expected, Amanda walked to find out what it was.

As she stepped in she was greeted with the warm smell of pancakes, what was more surprising was the next more familiar scent. Male cologne, when she opened her eyes she saw Racheal fully dressed and sitter at the small round the sipping on a glass of juice and munching away at her pancake and a tall man stood at the stove flipping the pan. He wore a casual yet neat white shirt and a comfortable pair of jeans.

"Timmy?"

The man turned to face her showing that neither Racheal nor himself was aware of the fact that she had entered the room. Timmy who was already laughing himself to death because of the jokes that Racheal was making smiled even wider and caught her off guard by giving her a quick kiss on her mouth.

" Good morning to you too," His hand pointed towards the plate on the table with a serving,

"pancake?"

Amanda had recovered and was now wide awake, she nodded and sat in the chair that Timmy pulled out for her. She ate everything laid in front of her all the while trying to ignore the giggles and eyebrow raising from Racheal directed towards her.

After her breakfast Amanda washed a.d dressed herself for work, Timmy and Racheal sat chatting away in front of the television when she walked out. He looked at ease comfortable unlike the always deshelved man she had come to know in the past few months. The three left her home for their different destinations, Racheal taking a bus to school while Amanda and Timmy got onto the same train heading for the town center. Amanda had kept her mouth shut, denying herself the questions she yearned to ask him before because of Racheal, but now that she was gone her concern poured out.

"Are you okay?" Amanda eased in

"Mmm?"

He looked at her from the paper that he was reading with a slight frown,

" What makes you think something is wrong?"

" I noticed your not wearing your usual clothes or rushing to go for work and I'm sure you just missed your stop, is everything okay?" Her head peeped in front of him to look at his expression clearly. To her surprise he seemed genuinely amused by her.

" I was at your place yesterday but found you weren't in. I thought you had yesterday off, so I came over to make sure you were recovered fully and to spend the day with you. I wasn't with you when you were in hospital so I thought I'd make up for it. "

"Oh... wait, you got the day off? What happened? Did you hurt yourself? "

" Haha, no none of the above. Well my hard work payed off I got noticed by our new boss and received three days off as reward. So I chose to spend them with you, yesterday being day one."

Timmy spoke with a light tone and held hands with Amanda.

" I'm sorry."

Amanda said feeling her heart swell with love and regret for missing out on a whole day with the man of her dreams. By now they were off the train and walking on the pavement it wasn't too early so most of the morning rush had gone by already.

" It's okay, it's my fault after all I should have called first. Who knew you would turn into as much a workaholic as me! Dont work yourself so hard you'll get wrinkles." He playfully pinched her cheeks.

"Hey.. you wont get away with that!" Amanda jumped onto his back and he lifted her up with no effort at all. There was an advantage to having a solid muscled boyfriend after all. Amanda had no idea during which hours he even got to work out but she dis appreciate the work put in.

Timmy walked her all the way to the foot of the stairs at JK were he kissed her and both parted ways.

Amanda had hardly even walked past the open office doors when Suzy rushed towards her with her usual morning energy.

"So that is the famous Timmy Valdreal! You know when your mentioned that he was an intern Attorney, I expected geek, specs and a tiny frame but he is definitely way better. The best part is that the savage witch saw him too and ever since has been sulking and throwing daggers at me and now you. It's brilliant you just made my morning all the more better. I love you. Oh and good morning."

"Haha- wait hoe could you see me from all the way up here?" Amanda walked to the window trying to see how much she could make out.

" Oh come on were you are involved i see all." Suzy winked at her.

The day passed like any other working day and at the end of it all Amanda walked home from the train station knowing that Timmy would be waiting for her as he had made plans for their evening.

When she was on the elevator another man joined her. He carried many grocery bags and when he saw her, Amanda was sure that he hesitated even though there was more than enough room in the elevator. He stepped in and stood at a resonable distance and said a polite hello which she returned.

When she pressed the floor number he didn't bother to do so. Looking at him from the corner of her eye hoping not to be noticed she assessed his features and concluded, from the information Racheal had provided that this must be the new neighbor.

When he doors opened to their floor both stepped out at the same time resting in a little uncomfortable situation were they both apologized. kept ushering the other forward trying to be polite. I'm the end they settled with her walking out first and the him.

The both walked in an awkward silence and reached their doors which they opened and walked into without a second glance at one another.

Timmy wqs in the kitchen and walked out when he hears the front door.

"Hey - Whats wrong?" his tone at first cheerful turned worried upon looking at her face.

" Nothing juat a little weird encounter."

Timmy looked still worried but lightened up.

"So what would you like Red wine or white?...."

His court e drifted away a d Amanda was left to her own thoughts she didn't help but think that she somehow knew this man from somewhere.

'Great a bump to the head and you're already claiming to know people that you've never met.' She thought to herself.
