Chapter 13 - The Imaginary Witch

Long shiny hair glinted in the sun like the thinnest copper wire. It was straight as rain and soft as the finest silk.

She was picking herbs. Magical ones. She had been doing it since the demon forced her into the contract, into a study of witchcraft. She didn't resist, had taken advantage of it. She learnt tremendously and researched even more. Magic, was the only thing she could rely on to get her freedom back.

Previously she was a lively normal girl. But red always attracted the death. Her red hair was the most beautiful color in town, if not the world. The demon loved it.

Well, whatever the past. She had become the professional, the scholar, with doctorate degree in witchcraft now. She knew the spells more than any demons, knew more about plants and animals than any races in the world. And she finally did it. She got rid of the demon.

The ultimate achievement, it was. Oh, it brought her limitless happiness. So she devoted her life in helping other people falling under demons' selfish contract.

She turned her head and met me. Sparkling green eyes were bright like the clearest emerald. A strand of red hair lay across the white smooth cheek. Green and red, oh, so magical. She gave me a smile so kind. She knew immediately why I was here. She had magic after all. She said, "Come here, dear. I can help you."

Gentle, she was. She took me into her hut. It smelled of cinnamon, a little too warm for summer, but still very comfy. She gave me her herbal tea drink and ginger biscuits. "Just a relaxing session before the real work." She said and sat down opposite of me.

Taking a good look, she was still very young, not more than thirty, I guessed. She's beautiful. No wonder why the demon wanted her. And their mistakes! She had become the unrivaled enemy of the demons.

We had a girly chitchat. Demon contract was nothing to be worry. She told me. She could get it off me within seconds so I should just relax. We talked about fashions, foods, TV shows, celebrities' gossips. Even with the life of a savior, she was so cool! And when I seemed relax and happy, she said it was my time. With just a twitch of a strong magic-coated wand she fetched out of the wardrobe, I was free. It really was simple, easy, and fast!

I hugged her and jumped merrily saying 'Thank you' a thousand times!

And, goodbye Dylan, that was my Happy Ending.

Smile. If you want, you could stop reading here.

Smile stretched across my face. And, not far away, someone was bending over the bushes. It was a woman. My heart almost jumped out of my chest. She, I thought, seemed to be picking something busily. Must be the magic herbs!

She turned her head and met me. Staggering green scaly skin was lurid like color-injected emerald. A stream of red blood lay across the not-so-smooth chin. Green and red, oh, so er…menacing. She showed me a row of fangs. She knew immediately why I was here. She had madness in her eyes after all. She grumbled something that sounded like, "Come here, dear. So I can eat you."

She wasn't picking herbs. She was picking a dead deer fleshes, eating.

Something is very wrong here.
