"This is how the story should be!" Nate shouted from up above finishing his tale as the old psycho woman lunged at me. I screamed and dodged something black and sharp in her hand daring not to take my eyes off of it. The lunatic lady was fearsome, but her black weapon was worse. It had an eerie kind of aura all about.
"Leigh!"
I lost a focus at my name, but Dylan came in between me and the old hag before that black-thingy of hers pierced my head. The demon twisted her wrist only for a few seconds before she tossed him aside. I looked at Dylan with shock.
Then, during the next period, my eyes had only that black-thingy stamped on them, and my head only commanded fleeing acts. Seeing from time to time that Dylan was trying, to no avail, to attract attention, attacking the woman from behind, or being sandwich between me and her, I began to fear for him. The woman didn't budge a tinee-tiny bit, not even when he slid a huge cut on her cheek and the blood turned one-fourth of her face greener.
I crashed into something soft and moving. The familiar big green eyes met me. "Gosh! Chane?"
"Leigh. Help me." The tiny elf sobbed. "I'm so scared."
The witch dived at me again. "Go up on the tree!" I told Chane and rolled sideway. She persistently followed. I seemed to be in more danger than the little demon. I stood with my back to the tree Nate was on. "Heaven!" Nate exclaimed. "Don't bring her here! Go away! Shoo!"
The maniac stormed the tree with that black thingy of hers. The trunk, as if receiving acupuncture, was full of holes. It also shook so violently that Nate fell down. I held onto him as he was trying to fly up again. Nate made an effort to shake me off and ran at the same time. "Let me go! No one can help you! No one can kill the witch!"
The yellow-eyed demon went into a narrow gap between two pines and I hit with one of them, loosed my grip, and lay down on the damp ground. Chane who was now high up on this tree whimpered out loud.
Dylan jumped at the witch buying a few more seconds for me to escape before being thrown away to join Nate.
"We have no chance!" I heard Nate say. "Let's run!"
"No!" Dylan said in a husky tone. "I will not leave Leigh!"
Among the mist of danger, I felt something full and soft and warm at my heart all of a sudden.
"Is there any way we can kill her?" Dylan said again while I was muddling behind tall grasses. The witch gave him a huge slash on the right arm. His clear blood poured out like a waterfall.
"Destroy her heart. But it's impossible, we, all the demons, dragons, those jerk neighbors, none of us can defeat her!" Nate said quickly without breathing. "Wait! Maybe…we can…may…might"
"How?!"
By this time, Chane's noisy blubbering was so irritating.
"The witch is obsessed with killing human girls. Girls are her favorite prey. That's why she'd been ignoring you and me and that little tree demon. Until Leigh dies, we won't be her target." I found myself listening to Nate quite attentively while avoiding the witch's attacks with more expertise. "Leigh can attract her attention. You aim at her heart, destroy the whole of it in one blow."
"Am I not attracting enough attention!!" I retorted. I was the one running and falling here while they chatted! It was irritating even more when I glimpsed Nate reposed himself against a tree trunk relaxingly. My hand groped on the ground and I threw everything I got at the monster lady. I had to help myself, relying on the demons might bring the end to me.
The freak swept whatever I threw at her away with one hand when her belly expanded. I took a chance to back away and saw that her stomach wasn't actually expanding but she was bending back so far because of the blue laser-something from Dylan. She struggled in pain as green scales on her skin cracked. Her face extended outward and two huge green webbed wings flung out of her back swiping the blue thing like a windshield wiper. A fragment of Dylan's blue power sprayed on me. It caused no harm, to my surprise, and felt just like normal water.
"She's changing into a dragon!" Nate screamed and his face went wild.
A dragon!? I choked--another Jimmy!?
The shape-shifting was thwarted by the blue beam that pierced through her chest just in time pulverizing her heart into nothing.
The witch flumped onto the ground and moved no more. The black weapon fell out of her hand and rolled at me. I moved away from it as fast as I could, still felt creepy about the thing.
Dylan, despite sweating and panting and having all the minor injuries and dirt all over his face; bore a smile. Nate's wild face was replaced by a stupid look. He stammered. "W-we-we-"
Dylan stepped on her body and yelled on his triumph while Nate danced around singing. "We kill the witch! We kill the witch! We, demons, kill the witch! Long live the demons! We are the greatest! We kill the witch!--" It seriously went on.
Little Chane climbed down and joined their celebration. A rustle in the brush tore me from the scene and a boy with golden hair emerged. "Conner!" He had the most anguish face on and looked at me briefly before turning to the stupid scene of dancing Nate, laughing Dylan, and clapping Chane. He murmured "They kill the witch."
"Oh. Hello, neighbor!" Nate looked livelily at Conner and went back to his singing.
And, getting caught up in glee, victory, hopelessness, and half-hanging relief, we were all unable to leave that place for a long while.
As the green pupils slipped behind the lids; came the end of the Wicked Witch of the West.
As the scrawny finger stopped shaking; came the end of the Evil Queen.
As the last lot of the air disappeared; came the end of the renowned Maleficent.
As the blackened soul became dust; came the end of the legendary Witches. Or the one Witch they all shared.
