Chapter 69 - Waiting

Audrey went straight to her room right after eating. She browsed for a book at her bookshelf and decided to re-read some of her romance filled books. She carefully read the titles as she pointed it out one by one with her finger.

It took her a while to choose what to read for her mind for she couldn't really focus that well. It's as if her physical body is here but her heart and mind is literally off somewhere else. Or should it be literally off with someone else?

She jumped on to her bed and lied down for a moment while holding her phone on the other hand and the book that she chose on the other. She sat upright, opened her book immediately closed it after a couple of seconds and looked at her phone instead.

She checked onto his flight schedule and saw that he should have landed in New York for it's already two hours late. Though she wanted to message him up but is not sure if his flight is delayed again or what, she doesn't want him to think that she might be too clingy or what. She's too conflicted.

She kept on looking at her phone almost every minute and the more she waits the more she gets anxious. So when her phone finally rings she immediately picked it up.

"Aiden?"

"Sorry but it's you dearest Kylie." She said with glee.

"Oh. Kylie." She sounded disappointed.

"What's with that response? Hasn't he called or messaged you?"

"No. Not yet. Wait. I need to drop your call I'm still waiting for him to call me."

"What? You're choosing him over your lovely best friend??"

"Toodles! Love you!" She hanged up.

Audrey then stared at her phone and went to "messages" and thought about messaging him instead. She kept on typing and erasing then typing again. She just doesn't know what to say. Conflicted, her phone started ringing. It's Aiden.

"Hey." She said as immediately composed herself as she properly sit at her bed and laid her back on the wall.

"Hey gorgeous." He replied.

Audrey beamed with a sweet smile upon finally hearing his voice and said, "How was your flight?"

"It was ok I think. But it can be better if you were there."

"To serve you some coffee or tea? Well I never thought of becoming a flight stewardess for I know I lack some height and I fear that I wouldn't even reach the overhead cabin without tipping my toes up high."

"Haha silly." He laughed. "By the way, I'm sorry if I only called now. I told you that I'd call or message you immediately but my flight got so delayed for the weather here is so bad that flights were already canceled here for the day."

"Oh my. Are you okay? I haven't really traveled by airplane but I heard that the ride could be bumpy whenever you hit the clouds or if there's a storm."

"It is indeed bumpy but don't worry. I'm still all in one piece. I'm currently waiting for my ride to pick me up."

"That's good to hear. I don't want to have a tragic love story where the male lead died the very next day right after he and the female lead started to date."

"I don't know what kind of books you read aside from our textbooks but you sure read too much."

"Kylie tells that to me too…a lot actually."

Aiden paused for a minute and sighed then said whispering, "I miss you."

"A-already? It's just been a day." She stuttered for his sudden seriousness.

"Yeah. I don't think I can go on for a day without having a dose of you. I want to go home soon but I'm afraid that it depends on the weather if I may be able to go back tomorrow."

"Don't worry. I'll still be here, all in one piece."

Aiden smiled and said, "You better be or I won't hesitate to tear the whole city down just to look for you."

"Sounds scary. I guess I should try playing hide and seek with you some time and see how good you really are."

"Trying to provoke me Ms. Gray?"

"Want to make a bet Mr. Wang?"

"Sure. What would you like to offer me then?"

Audrey didn't really think it thoroughly and questioned herself what she would like to offer. She thought that he must actually have everything already and that unsettles her because she doesn't know if there is something that he still doesn't have.

So she asked, "What would you want?"

"Hmm." He stopped for a bit and replied, "I already have you so I don't think I actually want anything else."

Audrey blushed and doesn't know what to reply after that statement. She is really glad that they're only talking on the phone now or she would have been more embarrassed if she heard him say that in person.

Her heart always beats like crazy with her everyday life with him. But though he keeps on surprising her with such, she feels contented and happy at the same time that she thinks that having him attack her like that once in a while, is not that bad.

"Audrey?"

"Ah yes??"

"I thought you already fell asleep because you suddenly became so quiet."

"No. I was just…never mind. Anyways take care later. I want to tell you to "have fun" but I don't think that would be appropriate for the party that you are going to is not giving the good vibes at all."

"I'll behave don't you worry."

"I know! It's just that I feel…ugh it doesn't matter. Just, take care."

"My Panda is worried." He said absorbed.

"Well I don't know what that Hailey looks like but I guess she would be smoking hot like Tiffany or Angel for all I know."

Audrey heard Aiden laughing afterwards and asked a little furious, "What now?!"

"Nothing, I just really love you that's all."

"F-fine. I'm going to sleep now. Just call me later after having "fun" at the party."

"I'll call this time."

"If you don't then don't bother coming back."

"Alright. Sweet dream my dearest Panda." He said whispering with his husky yet sexy voice.

Audrey lay down on her bed and curled in like a cat as she smiles and said, "Good night. Talk to you soon. I'll be waiting."
