Audrey got home only a few minutes before it started to rain. The rain is indeed heavy and hard. It was undoubtedly right to have classes be suspended for the day. It was actually such a miracle that their school suspended early because they're always one of the last ones to think that they're not weatherproof.
She's glad that their house is soundproof for she won't be able to hear the supposedly loud thunder and lightning coming from the outside.
It seems like the house itself was built to be soundproof from the outside especially when all the doors and windows are closed. But on the inside it's not. It's a good thing though because when Audrey freaked out when she found a huge spider in the storage room before, her brother came running towards her like some knight and shining armor and took the spider out in a flash.
"Uhm, would you like some juice? Water? Coke? Anything?" She asked her guest nervously as if its the first time that he entered the house.
"I'm good. I won't be staying for long though. I just don't want to leave you alone at a time like this." He's referring to the angry weather outside as he gazes at the glass window near the door.
The window is heavily tinted and is opaque but since it's raining hard, the droplets that was being swayed by the wind towards it tells how dreadful it is already beyond it.
"Well, thanks for being considerate." She said as she placed a glass of cold water on top of the coffee table and pushed it towards him and smiled and added, "Just in case you change your mind this water will just be here."
He gave her a charming smile and replied as he took the glass water, "Thank you for being considerate."
Audrey wanted to ask the details of his flight such as what time will he depart and arrive. She didn't even know where on Earth he'll be going this time. It might even be Antarctica for all she knows. It unsettles her. She wanted to ask him but is thinking hard on how to ask him in a proper manner.
"If you wanted to say something, just say it."
"What??" She was surprised.
"Don't worry. I'll get back after two days and I'll send you a copy of my flight details."
"How'd you know I'm going to ask you about that??"
"I guess I'm just really good at guessing things."
"It'll be hard to keep a secret from you then."
"Probably."
"That's so unfair of you. It's so hard to tell what's on your mind."
"I don't think it's that hard because it's actually obvious. I'm honestly pretty easy to read."
"Says the person who of course knew what is on his own mind."
Aiden chuckled in amusement and said, "Well there is always one thing that's always been on my mind. It's not actually a thing though but let's just set it like that."
"Okay. I'll try guessing."
"Go on. If you guessed right after five guesses I'll give you a prize."
"Ooh. I love this kind of games but before I try to guess first shouldn't you be giving me a clue because there are plenty of things that I might say which would not be even that close to what you wanted me to guess."
"Sounds fair." He paused a bit and thinks of a clue that would best describe what he's referring to. He closed his eyes for a moment and grinned. He found out that one clue that perfectly describes what is always on his mind.
He looked at Audrey determined and said, "Clumsy."
"What? That's your clue?"
"Yes."
"I don't even know if it's an animal, place, or a thing."
"If I tell you "what" it is you'll immediately know it. It's that obviously easy and besides the prize will be one thing that you'll want me to do."
"That's the prize?"
"Yeah. You can ask me to do anything but it'll only be limited to one thing. You can even ask me to buy you anything as a reward. Be it a house, a car I can give it you."
"Oh gosh that's too much. Is what I'm about to guess worth that much?!"
"It's worth more than anything in the world. Now, enough with the clues. Start guessing." He winked and gave her a quick smile.
"Okay. Hmm. Something that is worth more anything in the world huh? Something that's always on your mind that is obviously easy." She stared at him as if she's trying to read his mind. She played with the ends of her hair with her finger as she attempt to guess what he is actually thinking.
Then she says, "Is it love?"
"What makes you say that?"
"Well, love is obviously something that can worth more than anything in the world or even the entire universe. No one can buy it not even with money unless it's a love for thing."
"Close. But it's not particularly that."
"If I'm close then…is it your dog? You must always be worried since I've said before "You can't bring dogs to school" So you must be missing you dog all the time."
He laughed and said after composing himself again, "I do miss my dog most of the time but no. It's not my dog."
Audrey knew that she's right when she guess that it's "love" but is wrong for it's not his "dog". She began thinking again hoping that she'll come to a conclusion before she loses her remaining chances. The all of a sudden she felt her cheeks slowly get heated for she knew now what he wanted her to guess. And it's something that she's bashful to admit for she's not sure about it and don't want to be assuming. But it leads to that.
"I'm not sure though." She hesitantly said as she added, "Is it me?"
Aiden charmingly smiled and replied, "Yes. You've guessed it right."
"S-stop being cheesy!" She stuttered.
"I'm telling the truth. I told you, it's just easy to guess."
"It's not! How on Earth would I possibly guess that it was me if you wouldn't throw away those clues??"
"You'll still be able to guess because I'll make you guess it right."
"Oh gosh did you just let me cheat in order to win?"
"No." He laughed a little. "So what would your prize be then?"
"Okay fine. I won. Just don't take it easy on me next time. I think I'm good at games if there's a prize on the line."
"Haha. Okay. So do you have anything in mind? I can get you anything you want."
"What are you? Some sort or fairy or a genie?"
"Fairies have wings. A genie grants three wishes only. I'm neither." He smiled playfully.
"Fine. Just make sure that you'll be able to grant my wish then."
"Okay. I hope so too."
"My wish is for you to get back her safe."
"Silly. You don't need to wish for that. I'll definitely do that. I don't want you to worry like the last time."
"But I need to. I need to know that you'll come back safe and sound. "
Aiden carefully caressed her cheeks and met her eyes. There he saw a trace of uneasiness in her. She looked at him as she tries to convey her concern and dire fear that he'll never come back.
"I promise. I'll come back for you."
"I'll be waiting."
