Oh, how I miss them...
"What are you staring at?" Rowan asked suddenly which made me jump a little.
I realised that I had been daydreaming, if you could even call it that since it was night. How long had I been staring outside for?
"Um, just the beautiful moonlit forest" I answered half dazed by the view again.
"It is gorgeous, isn't it?" He said sighing
"Yeah. It is" I replied
"I assume you must be hungry, it's been a long while since you have eaten." As he said that my stomach started to grumble as if it could hear him. Weird, I know but it was the only other explanation other than coincidence.
"I take that as a yes" slightly chuckling he stood up and walked out of the room.
It was a few minutes before he came back but when he did there was a tray in his hands. I couldn't see what was on the tray until after he sat down on the edge of the bed. On the tray was a few slices of toast, a steaming cup of hot chocolate and a small glass vase with a single red rose inside. "I didn't know what you liked so I gave you a few options" I looked up at him, smiled and said sweetly "Thank you so much for this, I certainly have to repay you somehow".
"No, no, no, of course, you don't" he quickly but softly replied
"Well of course I do, you have helped me so much that I won't take no for an answer" I am going to be really persistent about this, I need to pay him back somehow.
"No, you don't. You don't owe me anything" Now he is being persistent. At this rate, the small disagreement will last forever.
I swiftly replied "It seems we are both going to be very persistent about this"
"Oh definitely, I will not back down. You needed to be cared for so I helped when the opportunity arrived." He stated proudly as if he were pretending to be a knight in shining armour saving a beautiful princess from danger.
The way he looked right now was warming my heart, but I would break his if I kept this up…
In the end, I decided to give up on trying to pay him back. I now know that he can be so persistent at times like these.
**Time skip**Morning**
By the morning we sat on the balcony enjoying the sunrise in the ever-changing sky. We talked about school, how things were going and then it struck me. I haven't seen anyone else around. Where are his parents? Or any other family member for that matter! All these thoughts were popping into my head at once. It must have shown on my face because he asked me what I was thinking about. I pushed it aside and changed the topic entirely.
To be honest it seemed like minutes but in actual fact, it turns out we have been sitting there for hours just talking. After all that he finally agreed to let me go home however, there was a catch. He had to come with me to make sure I was ok. "I'm just making sure you are ok!" Rowan said after I had complained. "Ok, ok! Fine but you don't need to worry, I feel a lot better now" I quipped back at him.
It took twenty minutes to walk back to my house. When I got to the door I remembered, I'd been so caught up in conversation that I forgot. I left my keys inside…
"Shoot!" I said frustrated
"What's wrong?" Rowan asked concerned
"I just remembered that I locked my keys inside"
Rowan stood there for a minute thinking then all of a sudden I heard "Hold on" and then he was gone. He ran around my house for a few minutes doing who knows what and when he came back he said "So I have some good news and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?"
"Good" I replied sighing.
The good news was that I had forgotten to close my bedroom window. The bad news was that my room was on the second floor, so my luck ran out. Yay me! I'm totally great with sarcasm.
Well at least we all know now that lied and I'm horrible at being a sarcastic teenager.
