"Job? What kind of job?" asks Razlov
"An escort job... 6 days ago when we were at Garbel city we receive info from an old acquaintance of mine back in the army that Viscount Garbel will be hiring mercenaries to secure the cargo that will be arriving at Sanloris in a few days from now. He also said that this is a big job and from he heard the lowest reward for completing this job is 10,000 gold coins... so we all rushed here with the intent of being hired." Carson explains with a serious expression. Seeing it, Razlov though that there's more to it than meets the eye.
"Surely that's not all, right? There must be more to it" said Razlov
"Yeah, Viscount Garbel assembled 2000 soldiers to guard it and the plan to hire mercenaries means that the cargo that will be arriving is incredibly important, that also means that this is a risky job. We also got vague info from various sources that point out that the cargo that is arriving is from the Empire and its lik~" before Carson could finish explaining things, he was interrupted by Razlov.
"Wait, wait, wait, Empire? what Empire?" asks Razlov
When Razlov asks 'what Empire' all them stares at him in disbelief. They were unable to believe in his ignorance and as a mercenary, he should know of this topic cause may be in the future he would be hired to fight against it.
Being stared at by Carson and the rest, Razlov could only turn his head to the side 'What can I do, I just arrive in this world roughly three months ago and I have been busy ever since' thought Razlov. When Razlov arrive at Sanloris, although he gathered information from various people during his stay, all of it was just the basic information like the what is the currency they are using, where is he right now, it's political structure, ways of trade, the culture of this world, their laws. All of it was the focus of Razlov information gathering and completely ignore the state of affairs of this world, that's why he was ignorant of what is this 'Empire' and adding the fact that he had just arrived in this world and he fathom that there was no need to as his focus was at the development of his Private Force.
"You really don't know?" asks Tirso
Razlov shakes his head as he really doesn't know anything about the state of affairs.
"Well, whatever..." So Carson started talking. According to him, this land that they are situated in is called Winglia Continent. The continent is shaped like a pair of wings that are spread out that's why it was called Winglia and it is divided into two; the West Wing and the East Wing then in its center is the Golden Sea where the Rising Dragon Group of Islands is situated at its center.
[Author note: The continent is more like this: https://imgur.com/HLuTiyK]
And in the West Wing of Winglia Continent is where the Empire is located. Luztrad Empire or commonly known as Empire is the biggest nation in West Wing, it covers almost 80-90% of the northern half of West Wing. The Empire is mostly known for its military might and its use of magic but not the conventional way of using magic which is casting spells instead they use magic as a power source for a device known as 'MageTech'. It made the Empire the leading country in research and development of MageTech. But most of their research and development of MageTech is for boosting the strength of The Empire's army.
The principle of MageTech is the use of a metal that is a good conductor of mage force or magic like mithril, adamantite, and orichalcum to make a device or machine and the use of magic beast blood to draw and engrave magic formation on the metal device or machine; giving birth to what is known as MageTech. And when a magician channels his/her mage force on the magic formation on it as a power source the device or machine will start working; just like the Identification box of the mercenary guild for issuing an identification card.
"That's why when we got the info that the cargo that will be arriving in a few days came from The Empire, we suspected that the cargo is most likely a military equipment MageTech since The Empire is known for its military MageTech," said Carson
"And if the cargo really is a military MageTech, this job is really dangerous since The Empire has a strict restriction on its military MageTech that selling it is almost impossible. Anyone who is caught of stealing and selling it is punished by death. So we also suspect that the cargo was stolen and smuggled out of The Empire and if it really it so The Empire will surely want it back" added Tirso
"Still, all of you are willing to jump in even though you know the danger along with it" comment Razlov
"Hahaha... How can we not, the pay is 10,000 gold coins and that's the least we know off maybe it would even become more and we would not miss such a high paid job" laughingly said Carson. And if you think about it, they are mercenaries that are making a living by taking jobs or missions at the risk of their lives; so there is nothing wrong with them taking the job.
Razlov could only shake his head but still, even he is willing to take the job.' How could I miss something like that? It's a job worth 10,000 gold coins, you know; it's like taking 10 bandit request and selling off their stolen goods' thought Razlov.
"So Razlov, are you in?" asks Carson
"Sure" Razlov didn't even hesitate when he agreed. Because aside from the reward this could also be a ticket for him to attract more clients willing to hire them.
Carson and the rest smiled when they heard Razlov agreed to join in taking the job and said "Okay, Razlov, now that you've joined, I think ours and your group should keep watch on each other's back to ensure that we would be able to complete the job without any casualty. In that way, we would be able to truly enjoy the reward that we would receive after the job is done."
"Oh, Razlov, tell us where you are staying right now so that we will be able to notify ones we get the news that Viscount Garbel is recruiting," asks Carson
"I'm staying at Flying Fish Inn right now, it is near the port," said Razlov
Razlov and Carson's group decided then to that Carson's group will be the one to watch if Viscount Garbel started his recruitment and Razlov with his group don't need to do anything, they just need to wait for the news. After a bit chat with Carson's group, Razlov then went back to the Inn to make the necessary preparation since if they manage to get into it, it would be their first big job that they are going to take.
When Razlov arrives at the Inn he immediately contacted those who are on the job and told them that after the job they would cease all activity and prepare.
