They were at it again
Lily rolled over on her bed her hand resting on her forehead and eyes facing the window as she felt a headache coming, it was always like this every evening when they thought everyone was asleep they would start fighting .
At first it was nothing just a few murmuring here and there, then before you know it they started throwing punches and lamps at each other's heads, it had been six years since they started fighting and it was always about the same thing.
Money...
It always started the same way dad would complain about something then mum would make a smile remark angering dad more then he would insult her saying at least he worked then it would go on before it turned into an all out fist fight.
She often asked herself why didn't they just get a divorce if they weren't getting along, but then the answer would just present itself it was because of her and her little brother Kai.
She jumped off the bed deciding that she would match to her parents room and beg them to just keep quiet she already had a terrible day she didn't think insomnia would help her feel better.
She stood in front of her parents door hand positioned to knock when it was flung open and before she realized it a fist landed on her pale cheek knocking her down to the ground.
Her eyes widened, her shaking hands reaching to her cheek lightly touching it before she flinched the pain unbearable.
"Lily..."
She heard her name but she ignored it, today's events rushing back to her like a billion fists to her brain.
Without knowing it her face was already damp from all the tears she unknowingly shed.
She felt a hand on her shoulder but scurried away from it in fright, she met the pained eyes of her father Benjamin Colt a karate instructor who owned a well known dojo in their little town, it was well known but didn't being much money because no one knew the use of it, they lived in a quiet town its greatest danger was the mongrel's eating from the trash, only few people came to his dojo Lily had visited there once and she could count their number with her two hands and still have fingers to spare
"Lily..." his voice broke watching his daughter's wide eyes stare at him in fright, eyes which she inherited from him, he didn't mean to hurt her he was about to lunge at his wife in anger when she opened the door and he came fist first with his daughter.
"...I'm sorry...please " before her could finish his sentence Lily picked herself up and ran down the stairs and out the door only the shrieks and bellows of her parents pleading for her to come back was left behind
