Chapter 8 - Dumb Fishes? II

Apo Isko, instructed everyone to uncover the small pits that they made earlier.

Liksi is the first one to uncover a small pit, he's shocked by what he saw!

The Small Pit is full of different fresh water fish such as eel, catfish, murrel and etc.. They can no longer swim due to overcrowding and he saw another snake head fish swum inside the pit from the bamboo hole.

Everybody looked inside and was also dumbfounded by this stunning scene.

Kulit asked Apo Isko, "Are they Dumb Fishes? Why did they gather themselves here? Do they badly want to be eaten by us?"

Everybody laughed and said, "Yes, they're dumb fishes and they will become our dinner for tonight!"

But Tala and Apo Isko was flustered and wondered how does it actually happen? They both know that these fishes were very elusive under water.

Tala couldn't contain his curiosity and asked Apo Isko, "What's the explanation behind this effective trap?"

Apo Isko can't answer his questions so he just made an excuse and said "Find it out by yourself! Not everything should be explained to you! You're no longer kids!"

Tala nodded and apologized for his lack of understanding and knowledge.

All of them hurriedly catch these fishes and put it inside their baskets. They were afraid that the fish might swim back to the river if they stayed still and if the fishes decided not to became their food.

But Tala and Husay noticed that the fish can no longer jump back to the hole to go back to the river.

'Deep inside, they both praised the one who made this idea.'

Husay explained to his colleagues, "No need to rush! They can swim but they can't jump back to the bamboo hole!"

Tala interrupted Husay, "What do you mean no need to rush? It's getting dark already and we might attract different wild beast if we go back later!"

Everybody quickened their pace, then Tapang said "Who cares about those beast! We're here and with Apo Isko with us they will become our preys instead."

Apo Isko scolded Tapang, "Go feed yourself to those wild beast, we'll be going back! They might be our prey but we need preparations for that! Don't assume that you're stronger than a beast with sharp fangs and deadly claws just because we've learned to use traps!"

Tapang bowed and said "Tapang understands! Thank you for your words Apo Isko!"

Everyone of them knew that they lacked strength and technique to fight different wild beast.

Though they learned a new way to hunt the Herbivore Wild Beast earlier, it doesn't mean it is always effective to other beast as well. What if the wild beast can jump, climb, and a lot faster than the Herbivore Wild Beast? They will become its food if they can't outrun that wild beast. There's so many what ifs that they can think and it wears down their morale.

Apo Isko will not let it get into them so he told them:

"There will always be a way to deal with those wild beast, we just need to find out and learn!

Tomorrow, I will try to solve your worries! If not tomorrow, I'll do it as many tomorrows needed or as long as I can, I'll find a way to deal with it!"

But Apo Isko is already laughing inside while saying that.

'I might sound heroic to this naive boys, but I'll just need to ask the Talking Book later. Anyway, this is for the Tribes' sake and I don't need to explain myself to these boys.'

"Let's go back and feed our fellow Tribesmen. They'll be surprised with our catch!"

Likot urged everyone to hurry as he's excited on what expression will those tribesmen show!

They all run carrying two baskets each person, leaving Apo Isko behind.

Apo Isko also hurried when he realized that he was left behind by the group of young men
