Chapter 310: Asking for a good beating
Translator: Abyssruler Editor: Lucas
Wang Zheng smiled. The way Xiao Lu put it was not too bad.
"We'll drink a little, but I still have to drive later, so not too much." Wang Zheng shook his head. Even though alcohol had no impact on his body whatsoever, he would not drink and drive. That was the law. Student Wang had always been a law-abiding patriot.
"Tsk, Wang Zheng. You ride a bike, what sort of excuse to not drink is that?"
Just then, a student in simple, casual outfit walked over. He had a slightly big build, mainly a large tummy. It was Pang Xie, one of Wang Zheng's classmates of three years in highschool. Their relationship was fairly average, but it wasn't bad. It was the type where they could have a short conversation when meeting.
"Crabby! Long time no see. I heard you got into New North Technological University. How does it feel to be in a top university?" Wang Zheng laughed, calling him by his nickname.
TL Note: Pang Xie is a homophone for crab in Chinese. Hence the nickname Crabby.
"You're asking me how I feel? Very bad! Pretty bad! The male to female ratio is 50 to 1, 50 wolves and only 1 babe! Sigh. What's worse is New North's system is entirely closed. You're only allowed to take three days off every month…."
"That's not too bad. You specialise in tech, and it has much to do with up and coming high-tech stuff. It'd be hard for you to achieve anything academically if it's not a closed campus." Xiao Lu chuckled.
"My foot! You should stay there for a year and see for yourself. You know what's the most pathetic thing? It's not just a 50 to 1 ratio! The 1 may not necessarily even be a babe. But yet at New North, a sow can also be a goddess!"
Pang Xie shook his head and showed his college's belle list in his Skylink . The top ten were not too bad, but from the eleventh onwards…
"Damn! What's wrong with spectacled girl number 15? She looks sinister and creepy. Number 16…. she has dead fish eyes! How did they even make it up here?"
"Bros, say no more. Girlfriend. Quick, introduce to me a girlfriend."
"Scram! Your pain is only temporary. Just wait till you graduate. All you have to do is say that you're a top student from New North. What sort of beauties will you not have? All of them will come running to you, and your only worry will be which to pick."
"You scram! Me worry which to pick? Why can't I take them all?"
They made quite a bit of commotion.
"Drink up!" Xiao Lu had always had quite a high tolerance for liquor; he could be considered a hero in the nation of alcohol. Naturally, he was able to drink up.
Wang Zheng shook his head. "Enjoying ourselves is one thing, but I really have to drive, so I can't drink."
"My ass. You pretentious prick. Why are you worried about drunk driving when you ride a bicycle?"
"Not a bicycle," Wang Zheng said, shaking his head.
"So it's a motorcycle? Not too bad, eh. Leveled up." Pang Xie was not a bad person, but he just enjoyed playing the fool. His hobby was exposing others' weaknesses. An eccentric side to having high IQ, perhaps.
"Not that either. It's a floating car."
"Huh? You have a floating car now? Did you win a prize?"
"Sort of." Wang Zheng smiled.
"Damn, I've been buying lottery tickets my whole life, and I've only won once. Ten bucks. Tell me, what car? What brand is it? Oh, right, Wang Zheng, what school did you get into?" Pang Xie was the sort who lived in his own world and was seldom in touch with news that were unrelated to him. It was precisely this nature of his that allowed him to get into a top college.
Xiao Lu was amused. "You don't know? Wang Zheng got into the same college as goddess Zisu, Ares College!"
Just then, a group of people came towards them. It was Yi Xisi and his gang. They'd come down from level 3.
It was just seven of them, but the moment they showed up, the warm atmosphere immediately turned cold. Those who were talking loudly started whispering softly.
Just a year and half ago, they were all classmates who were on the same level.
But now, they'd been separated into levels of heaven and earth. Even though it was a "class gathering", it was hard for them to see one another as equals.
Yi Xisi smiled coldly, turned around, and softly scoffed. "That's why I said that the few of us should just stay on level 3. Why must we come down here and ruin their atmosphere? This type of atmosphere is not something you and I can blend into."
A light scoff came from beside him.
"Well, it's just too bad you don't have what it takes to invite Beauty Ye, so we have to come together," someone said coolly, looking directly at Ye Zisu. It was Sun Wenli. He was not from Wang Zheng's graduating class, he had graduated one year before. He was a key character back at Dawn High School. The Sun family he was born into was comparable to OMG. But compared to Ye Zisu, he had three elder brothers, two elder sisters, two younger brothers, and a younger sister.
On another side, Wang Zheng smiled and told Pang Xie and Xiao Lu, "it's not a great car. It's a Pulley floating car."
He was answering Pang Xie's question. Wang Zheng did not speak loudly, but because everybody kept to their lowest volumes, he sounded particularly loud.
Yi Xisi frowned and then chuckled. "Heh. It's not that I don't have what it takes. It's just that Beauty Ye is way too special. She came in this Student Wang Zheng's Pulley floating car. Oh, right, if everybody has seen the news, you should know that this Student Wang Zheng is the team leader of IG Solar System."
Pulley?
What sort of trashy brand was that?
The few success stories smiled graciously, while Sun Wenli directly targeted Wang Zheng and said, "Does that mean you're very good? Team leader of IG Solar System. You represent the Solar System, eh? How good are you? Wanna try it out with my bodyguard?"
Wang Zheng smiled and replied, "Not too bad, I suppose. We can try."
"Don't worry, I'll ask him not to take it too hard on you." Sun Wenli was obviously picking on Wang Zheng. Sun Wenli had tried wooing Ye Zisu, but Ye Zisu had never once answered to his invitations. Now, having heard from Yi Xisi that Ye Zisu came in Wang Zheng's car, it was basically saying that he was not as good as Wang Zheng is. What IG team leader? Did it matter? He was just a dumb soldier.
Xiao Lu and Pang Xie were stunned. Pang Xie had a much slower reaction. He tugged at Xiao Lu and softly asked, "Goddess Zisu came in Wang Zheng's car? This… what's their relationship?"
"How would I know? I'd like to know too! Don't tell me he got her because they're in the same school and get to spend more time together? That's against the heavens' rules!" Xiao Lu shook Pang Xie off. That's not what was important right now. Senior Sun was going to beat up Wang Zheng!
He had heard that Sun Wenli's bodyguard was a retired ace Special Forces soldier. Previously, at Sun Wenli's birthday party, he had performed a stunt of killing a genetically modified fighting bull with a single punch. He was terrifyingly strong.
Sun Wenli was kind of unforgiving. He had really sent his bodyguard. Over two meters tall and giving out a formidable air from head to toe, this was definitely someone great.
"Sun Wenli, don't create any more trouble. This is a class gathering."
"Heh. Hype things up a bit, eh? Don't tell me our IG leader doesn't even have the courage for this." Sun Wenli rolled his eyes.
The bodyguard behind him looked at Wang Zheng, giving a look of bewilderment. He wanted to say something but did not.
"Big Ghoul, this is my schoolmate. Some kind of IG team leader. Either way, I'm not too sure what's up. Don't hurt him too bad. It's just for fun," Sun Wenli said coldly.
The bodyguard could not bear it any longer. He went up and saluted. "Team leader! Greetings from Ex- 8825 Special Forces platoon 18 Corporal Carlosa! You are the pride of all Earth people!"
The entire hall fell completely silent….
Wang Zheng stood up and gave a standard military salute, "At ease, Corporal. This is a class gathering, no need to be so formal."
"Yes, Sir!"
Carlosa turned around and looked sternly at Sun Wenli. "Mr. Sun, even if there were ten of me, I still would not be team leader's match. I will report today's incident to your father. My apologies."
He looked apologetically at Wang Zheng, saluted, and left.
Xiao Lu grabbed tightly onto Pang Xie. "Damn! Daaamn! What the f*ck! How awesome was that!? Is IG that good?"
IG held a high status amongst the military. While high standards couldn't be guaranteed for the world outside, on Earth, or even in the Solar System, any team leader had absolute capabilities. There was no doubt that eight or ten men could never be Wang Zheng's match.
"Sorry, something cropped up, I'm late. Did I miss something?" Yan Xiaosu walked in, smiling widely.
Little Fortune Star Company was doing pretty well these days, but Yi Xisi, Sun Wenli, and gang still slighted him, thinking he was just some lucky guy who struck it rich.
But capabilities were capabilities. Yi Xisi forced a smile and said, "Xiaosu, you're here. We're ready for you on level 3."
Yan Xiaosu ignored Yi Xisi. Laughing, he said, "When I came in, I heard a joke and couldn't stop laughing. I have a friend who is deeply troubled. His girlfriend said she wanted a Silver Moon floating car and a 10,000 square feet apartment with a city view on the 20th story, or they can forget about getting married."
"Damn. Dump her then. Why would you want anyone like that anyway?" Xiao Lu said. Any apartment in the city would cost a bomb. Yi Xisi and gang had no idea what Yan Xiaosu was trying to say, but it seemed that it was nothing good. They knew that Yan Xiaosu and Wang Zheng were close, but were they still close after graduating?
Yan Xiaosu shook his head and continued, "My friend was helpless. He went back to discuss the problem with his family. His father sighed and said that selling the family's ship would allow them to get a few thousand floating cars, but his family's 300 odd story skyscraper couldn't possibly be torn down from the 20th floor and above!"
The crowd was stumped for a second and then burst out laughing. But they still did not know where Yan Xiaosu was going with this.
Yan Xiaosu straightforwardly looked at Yi Xisi. "I can understand how you guys want to try to pretend you're great. But you've got to look at who you're dealing with. This person standing right in front of you is the person Ye Zisu and I are working for. The largest shareholder of KING Corporation, understand?"
Silence fell all around once more. This time around, there wasn't even a whisper.
What did Yan Xiaosu just say?
Did we hear him wrongly?
Or were we going crazy?
Wang Zheng was the largest shareholder of KING???
The number one tech company on Earth??? The largest shareholder???
Yi Xisi and Sun Wenli turned deathly pale instantly. Yan Xiaosu was not kidding, and he was being extremely forthright. Be a good person and stay down to earth. They were all still classmates, what's there to act and pretend about?
Sorry, but there was a world outside of your own that taught one how to behave decently.
"We were just joking to liven up the atmosphere earlier on. Student Wang Zheng, we apologise if we've offended you."
The look on Yi Xisi's face changed again and again. With Yan Xiaosu looking at him mockingly, he bit his teeth and bowed down to Wang Zheng.
Chapter 311: A Day in the Life of Professor Wang
Translator: Abyssruler Editor: Lucas
The look on Sun Wenli's face looked worse than death. His family owned a factory. Even though it was a rather huge company, they only looked good on the outside. The inside was rotting and losing life, and they had recently jumped on KING Universal Space Tech Corporation's developments to move towards space projects. Even though they had missed the opportunity to cooperate, given the conditions of their family's factories, they had no problem producing spare parts required for space projects.
Since he and Ye Zisu were schoolmates, and given their competitive advantage, it was likely that they could get orders from KING's space projects. They did not dare to ask for all, just some orders were enough to let their family business regain life. Making money was secondary. It was more important for them to hitch a ride on this space project and make a name for themselves, or even make an impact in the stock market.
If his father was to find out that he had offended KING Universal Space Tech Corporation's largest shareholder…
To think he had wanted his bodyguard to fight Wang Zheng! Thank goodness they didn't fight. Earlier on, he was just ruthlessly thinking of sacking Big Ghoul and forfeiting a month of his pay. But now, even a hundred "thank yous" were not enough to express his gratitude.
"Earlier on, it was my…" seeing Yi Xisi apologising first, and under Yan Xiaosu's watchful eyes, he bit his teeth and stood forward, wanting to offer an apology too.
Wang Zheng smiled and waved his hands. "It's nothing, really. Today is our class gathering, what matters most is that everybody's happy."
Sun Wenli followed suit and smiled. Only his smiling face looked uglier than a crying face. "Oh, right, I almost forgot. I have something urgent to tend to. I'll make a move first."
Yi Xisi and the few of them who had come down from level 3 also claimed to have something going on and left. They were definitely too embarrassed to stay.
The moment those people left, the atmosphere returned to being light and happy.
Wang Zheng chuckled and told Yan Xiaosu, "You, really. It was nothing actually."
Yan Xiaosu smiled. "Boss, sometimes being too cool about things will bring you trouble. I understand that now. Some people think they're great when it's actually because you're too lazy to get up and give him a tight slap. For these types of people, you've got to beat them up every time you see them. I did that for their good. I was teaching them how to behave like human beings and not act like pigs. What happened just now… they were lucky it's you. If they bumped into fiercer men, they wouldn't even know what happened after getting killed."
"You're full of your own logic." Wang Zheng shook his head. While Yan Xiaosu was not wrong, it was just that his bottom line was way deeper than that. Things were not too bad, and he could just smile and laugh it off.
Just then, Xiao Lu raised his glass and said, "Wang Zheng, I really didn't think that you'd be the one who's got the most hidden abilities in class…. I say, is KING Corporation hiring? I'm actually pretty good. How about that? Would you consider?"
Xiao Lu didn't apply for college after graduating from highschool. Instead, he chose to enter the workforce. In this day and age, only lazy bums would starve. If you set your attitude right and worked hard, you'd certainly find a position or place that belongs to you.
Wang Zheng chuckled. "I'm a phantom shareholder. You've got to go to Yan Xiaosu for recruitment and management matters."
The color on Xiao Lu's face instantly drained. Five minutes earlier, he would not bother being polite to Yan Xiaosu. But now?
Having seen Yan Xiaosu make Yi Xisi and gang sheepishly leave with a few jokes and chatter, he felt completely different than he was in the past. His image had changed entirely, and it was difficult to approach him. Wang Zheng, however, was amicable and approachable.
Yan Xiaosu made his way over and punched Xiao Lu in the shoulder. "We would surely welcome you if you wanna join us. It's just that only our public relations department has vacancies, so it's a little difficult."
"What's difficult?"
"About that, my old friend, well, really, your image can't make it."
"My image is pretty good, isn't it? I definitely won't embarrass KING."
"1.8 meters and above."
"…"
Student Lu immediately caved in.
"Just kidding. The rules are dead, we're not. But even though we were schoolmates, the workforce is still about capabilities. You'll have to start as an intern and pass an evaluation in a month before you can be officially employed."
Yan Xiaosu smiled, but he was rather serious about it.
"That's no problem."
After giving Xiao Lu the company's PR contact details, Yan Xiaosu dragged Wang Zheng and Ye Zisu into a corner. "The company's deadlock situation has been resolved. We managed to pull in a huge sum of investment from FLC Group. The next phase in the project can finally kickstart."
Even though KING Universal Space Tech Corporation's developments were going well, they were unable to get listed under the pressure from Margate Interstellar Airways and CT Group. Furthermore, there were huge problems in terms of funding. They had been getting by by using funds from OMG and Little Fortune Star.
A conservative estimation would put the fund shortage in the billions, and OMG and Little Fortune Star were almost unable to hold the fort any longer. The two companies could not possibly put all their stakes in this one investment and hinder their own operations.
The project had constantly been looking for new investors, but it was a pity there were too many restrictions. Many of those who had enquired said they were unable to accept the terms and conditions.
Ye Zisu blinked and finally recalled. "FLC? The new energy group? I heard this group is rather mysterious. Even though they claim to be a new type of energy resource company, they invest in every industry. They're very different from ordinary investment companies and don't usually interfere with operations."
"In this day and age, being in the energy business means being filthy rich. Their conditions are, number one, monopolised rights to the usable product for the first five years, and number two, they hope that our project can use their new energy standards for product development. Well, I say, quality goods need no advertising."
Yan Xiaosu gleamed. There was always light at the end of a tunnel. FLC was a timely rain. Moreover, their terms were no problem to KING Corporation.
Wang Zheng laughed. "Like I said, I'm a phantom shareholder. You guys can deal with these things."
"Well, you say that, but Boss, they kept insisting that they need the largest shareholder to sign the contract. It's as if he knows you. Ah, whatever. As long the conditions are to our advantage. Finally, problem's solved!"
Yan Xiaosu chirped happily.
Wang Zheng being the largest shareholder of KING was a fact known by everyone out there, especially those outside the Solar System. Frankly speaking, the Milky Way was way too big, and unless it's some heaven-shocking and ground-shaking achievement, it'd be pretty great to have a day or two's fame.
Wang Zheng and Ye Zisu looked at each other. No matter what it was, FLC's investment was a timely assistance to them.
To Xiao Fei, the development of space technologies would inevitably be used for military purposes. What she hoped was that it could simultaneously benefit civilians and provide extra security to the safety of mankind's interstellar travels.
Before this, theories were just theories and could be brought out as a topics of discussion. But now that it involved usable products, they were trade secrets.
On the research team, everyone's tasks and work had become heavier, and Xiao Fei held fewer classes at Ares College, much to the dismay of physics majors. Especially for freshmen who came to Ares College to study physics because of Xiao Fei. The seniors were still alright. They'd at least seen Xiao Fei in person. The freshmen were just sad. They had not even gotten a single chance to meet her. Of course, ordinary students didn't actually require Xiao Fei's attention, but the effects of a celebrity professor would definitely be something quite different.
"So that's the current situation, Wang Zheng. For this period, you take over my classes," said Xiao Fei.
"I'm busy too, Prof. I have to train, and …. study."
"Study? You study?" Xiao Fei said in disbelief.
Wang Zheng straightened his body. "I'm learning about the Aimo's Theory of Miniaturisation. I'm really busy."
"The person who talked to me about 11-Dimensioned Space Theory is talking about learning the Miniaturization Theory? You're learning backwards, aren't you? Prof. Wang, it seems like you're using too many brain cells on mecha. Do we have to talk to the Federation Science Academy so that we don't let a science prodigy become shrouded by the military?" Xiao Fei smiled, her eyes gleaming. If somebody thought that becoming the IG team leader would let him get away with everything, he couldn't be more wrong.
Wang Zheng gulped and mumbled something. This was outright threatening him! All right then. He conceded defeat. "Prof, don't worry, I will lead them into the great halls of science…"
"Pretty sound bullsh*t there. Go on."
"No more."
"Then get moving! Go prepare for class!"
"Yes…" Wang Zheng sighed.
"Attitude?"
"Yes Ma'am!"
Everyone had their weakness, and every object had its nemesis. Wang Zheng was only unable to hold things down with Xiao Fei. Not even Old Merchant could make him so docile.
Preparing for class was actually very simple. Xiao Fei had given the password to her class preparation platforms to Wang Zheng for him to download the content himself. He just had to arrange them according to his own understanding and then the teaching materials for one class would be ready.
Wang Zheng was a student and a professor at Ares College, so naturally he had an office to himself. He could even hire an assistant and the college would pay for it.
But this was the first time Wang Zheng had used his office. Xiao Fei's class preparation platform was in the server inside the school network, which was not linked to the Skylink network; it couldn't even be accessed by wireless network or servers. It could only be accessed by using the smart system specially prepared by the college for the professors.
Level three, room 16, a south-facing window, at the end of the corridor. 20 square meters wide, large enough to fit a whole bunch of experimental equipment and a single bed. One of the best office spaces in the college.
Wang Zheng entered the room and saw a boy lying on his desk, asleep and drooling. Beside him was a broom and a rag.
A student working part time?
He looked around. It was spotless. Very clean.
Wang Zheng smiled. It was well cleaned. He knocked on the desk.
Bam bam.
The boy who had fallen asleep jumped. "I'm not skiving…. uh, you scared me. I thought it was…."
The boy looked at Wang Zheng and wiped his mouth. Then he glared at Wang Zheng and said, "Who are you? What are you doing here? Do you know what this place is?"
"I do. But who are you?"
"Me? I am… Why are you asking me? This is a professor's office. No students are allowed here without permission. Even though it's not the exam period, as a student, you shouldn't break rules. Are you a freshman? Which department are you from?"
"…. Physics, I guess." Wang Zheng felt like saying Mech Department.
The office contained a smart system that could connect to the school's secure network, and many professors were more keen on saving their exam questions on the college's servers than on Skylink's servers. These days, hackers ran amok and the networks used by the public were never entirely secure. Certain hacker associations who were especially hooked on decrypting things would always release exam answers on Skylink just one day before the exam for no good reason other than they felt like it. They saw it as a hobby.
Physics? Then all the more you can't be here. I'm a part-time teaching assistant. I work here. If anything goes wrong, I'm held responsible."
Chapter 312: Try and You'll Know
Translator: Abyssruler Editor: Lucas
Wang Zheng was speechless. The feeling of being chased out of his own office… an honorary professor indeed. It was obvious that this part-timer was a freshman.
But seeing how he was taking his cleaning job seriously, Wang Zheng felt it was not very appropriate to prepare for his lessons here. Xiao Fei's office was just right above anyway and so he left his own office…
Wang Zheng came to Xiao Fei's office and turned on her system. He went through the password verification, and the first screen that popped out was actually a screensaver of an adorable little girl. Guessing from the date at the bottom of the photograph, this little girl was Professor Xiao Fei when she was younger.
He subconsciously touched the girl's cheeks. The screen changed and entered a photo album.
Password: ???
Wang Zheng subconsciously keyed in the password Xiao Fei had given him.
Password correct.
He had actually entered the album! Looks like this password was frequently used by Xiao Fei.
From when she was a little girl to present day, all of her photos were saved in this album. Most of them were photos from her days of studying abroad at Aslan. There were many good-looking men and women in the pictures. Compared to her now, Xiao Fei had an extra tinge of wildness and energy and youth when she was in university. She was eye-catching even in a group of Aslanians and had an unforgettable look.
This was another side of Xiao Fei unbeknownst to people. In some of the moving photographs, an Aslan boy would always stand beside her. The two of them looked close. Could it be her boyfriend? But it didn't look like it…
Wang Zheng shook his head and exited the photo album. He didn't understand why Xiao Fei had saved such personal photographs on the college server.
After logging in to Xiao Fei's space on the server and keying in the password, Wang Zheng downloaded the lesson materials. He quickly got into the momentum of lesson preparation. The contents for today's class were not very interesting, and to make it interesting, he needed to prepare well.
Half an hour later, Wang Zheng was ready. When he took the elevator down, it stopped at level three. The part-timer from earlier dashed in, looking excited.
"Huh, you again? Why are you still here? Oh, you said you study physics, right? Professor Wang is taking over Professor Xiao Fei for lecture. Go to lecture theater three quickly, or else there'll be no seats left."
Professor Wang? Wang Zheng rubbed his nose. No seats left? Was he that popular?
"Take your time, it's okay."
"You're an inexperienced freshman, eh? You don't know Professor Wang, do you? He's one of the first few people who came up with the space navigation theory. Last time he taught a class, he managed to invite a Milky Way top scientist like Mu Fengchun to come here for an academic discussion…"
The part-timer couldn't help but display his boundless admiration.
Wang Zheng smiled. "You go first."
"If possible I'll save you a seat later."
"Uh, no need." Wang Zheng shook his head.
"We're from the same department, no need to be shy about it."
The part-timer waved and ran off. Wang Zheng shook his head and smiled. How was he being shy? He looked at the time. There were still ten minutes before class began. If he walked at a normal pace, he'd be able to get there in eight minutes. But on his way there, there were indeed many students who were behaving like the part-timer, running and dashing to lecture hall three. There were also a number of girls…. and students who were clearly from the Mech Department!
"Waaaaaaa!"
All of a sudden, a scream erupted from behind.
Wang Zheng turned around and saw two petite girls with good figures gazing at him.
"It's true!"
"So handsome!"
"Yeeeaaa!"
"Hi, Professor Wang."
"Hi, Student Wang."
Waaaaaaa…. The two girls talked amongst themselves, greeted him, and excitedly ran off, chattering softly.
Wang Zheng stared for three good seconds and then shook his head. What was that all about…. Calling him Professor and Student.
"Ah, it's Professor Wang! He's cuter than I imagined!"
"Mmmhmm, I thought he'd be fierce."
"Yeah, yeah, IG team leader…. Thank goodness he's not those bulky types, he's my cup of tea."
On his way, there were a few more girls who caught sight of Wang Zheng. Some were headed to lecture theater three, and some were headed to another class. But regardless, as long as they saw him, they would make a few comments and look at him passionately. Wang Zheng was now Ares College's No. 1 most popular male.
Wang Zheng smiled graciously. Just then, a girl ran up to him all of a sudden. "Senior, I like you. Let me be your girlfriend!"
She appeared to be a freshman from the Physics Department. Not too far away, a group of girls were looking in their direction. Presumably this girl's classmates.
"You're pretty, but too bad, I have a girlfriend." Wang Zheng shook his head. The feeling of being confessed to for the first time…. was weird. He thought he would be happy, but it made him miss Xiao Shi even more.
The girl blinked. "It's Senior Ye Zisu, isn't it? Senior, if you ever break up, you have to look me up. I may not be as pretty as she is, but I have my strengths. You have to try and you'll know."
Try….
Were girls these days all so aggressive? Wang Zheng smiled bitterly. How did this have anything to do with Ye Zisu? "You have lots of time, don't you, talking about these things? Go to class quickly!"
"Hehe, see you in a bit, Senior."
This girl was clearly attending Wang Zheng's lecture.
"Ahem. I will deduct marks from anyone who's late."
Wang Zheng had no choice but to bring out the ultimatum of a teacher – deducting marks!
The girls immediately split up, giggling away. Wang Zheng smiled in relief. The feeling of being on campus. You could even smell youth in the air.
Because he was getting harassed by the girls, Wang Zheng entered lecture theater three three minutes before the bell rang. He had planned on stepping in right as the bell rang. It would have given him the air of a professor, arriving right on the dot.
This classroom was specially designed for lectures. At Ares College, there were two types of standard lectures. One type was compulsory classes, such as politics and linguistics. No matter which year or department you were from, you had to take these classes. Another type was classes that were in demand. Every department offered classes like that to allow everyone to attend the same class so as to cut down on the resources used.
The class Wang Zheng was to deliver was the latter. Students from numerous departments were allowed to wach it.
Outside of class, everybody could horse around and have fun. But it was in the classroom that the qualities of students from Ares College were displayed. Everybody took their seats very quickly.
Except for…. the part-timer whom he bumped into earlier on at the office.
"So sorry, this seat is taken by my friend. He'll be here soon."
The part-timer had really reserved a seat for Wang Zheng.
"The prof's here. Your friend must have skipped class."
"What? Tsk. I say, pretty girl, no need to play such tricks. There, my friend's here. Here, here, sit here."
The part-timer waved at Wang Zheng and called out to him, failing to notice how the other students around him were staring oddly at him.
Wang Zheng waved back and walked up to him. "What's your name?"
"No need to be so polite, just call me Zengzi."
"Thanks, Zengzi, but I don't think it will be appropriate for me to sit here. You can have this seat, student."
Zengzi stared at him blankly and scratched his head as if he was afraid of interacting with girls. He stood up and said, "Then I'll stand with you too."
Even though it was a huge classroom, there were too many students in the class, and some of them were not from Ares. Most of the seats had been taken up by girls. The men had displayed a spirit of gentlemanliness.
Zengzi smiled and stood beside Wang Zheng. "Hm.. actually, I'm a little slow at taking down notes. Can I borrow your notes to copy later after class?"
It was clear that Student Zengzi had a motive in being so helpful as to reserve a seat for others.
He opened up his Skylink screen as he spoke and logged on to an online shopping page and began marketing his services…
The bell rang.
Wang Zheng chuckled. "I can show you the notes, but it's better not to promote your services to me. Alright, class, let's begin. Today we're going to talk about…"
Wang Zheng said as he walked towards the podium while opening up the classroom's teaching systems, logging in using the teaching account, and projecting a bunch of formulae on the huge screen.
Student Zengzi gaped. He was watching Wang Zheng speak freely and confidently on the podium, but he was not taking in any of his words…
"Who.. is he? Why is he delivering the lecture?"
The girl who took his seat looked up and glanced at Zengzi. "Didn't you say he's your friend?"
"I just got to know him…"
"He's Xiao Fei's apprentice, a physics professor specially hired by our department, Wang Zheng."
Gulp.
Zengzi nervously swallowed his saliva. It was all over now. Just what did he do???
He had chased Professor Wang Zheng out of his own office…
Student Zengzi did not take in a single word that entire lecture.
When class ended, he saw Wang Zheng walk towards him.
"Professor, I didn't mean it, I…."
"Here are the notes I promised you."
Wang Zheng slapped him on the back and sent a document over to him via Skylink, saying, "I'm short of an assistant. Would you like to help? The condition is that you have to pay attention in class. I think my lectures are rather interesting anyway."
The surrounding students chuckled and looked up at Zengzi enviously. The college paid teaching assistants pretty well; the pay was over ten times more than the usual part-time work.
Zengzi blushed. "I, I'll quit the other part time jobs right away… Professor, earlier on, at the office, I…"
"You did a good job. Keep it up. But when you have time, it'll be good to memorise the faces of the teaching staff in the college."
Wang Zheng smiled and left. He had to lecture at most twice a day, and it would only take 100 minutes and he'd be done. What was most troublesome was grading assignments and managing the classes. That was most time consuming. Having an assistant to take care of these things would be nice.
When lectures first began, he faced only freshmen, but in the subsequent lectures, there were students from year two, the same year as Wang Zheng, and even seniors in their third year. Wang Zheng did not like spoon-feeding his students in class. His classes were more like seminars, full of discussions that would guide and inspire students to think and learn physics through exploration.
For the year twos, even if it was content they had learned before, it was worth listening again. Who knows, they might be able have a deeper understanding on the subject.
Ye Zisu came in to listen from time to time as well. Every time she attended class, the atmosphere would be hyped off the charts.
"Wang Zheng, I heard there were junior girls confessing their love to you again today."
These days, Chen Xiu was the saddest in dorm 007. He had gotten to make quite a few pretty girl friends, but too bad, they all saw him as a little brother. He had collected quite a number of "nice guy" cards.
Looking at Wang Zheng… the heavens were unjust! Forget about pretty girls rejecting him, he actually turned the tables around and rejected pretty girls!
This was indeed an unjust world.
Chapter 313: Simplicity is Beauty
Translator: Abyssruler Editor: Lucas
Yao Ailun pushed his glasses up his nose. He was unperturbed. He had been doing very well in his commentator career recently and had begun commenting at some key events in huge league matches. There were a dozen female fans who sent him pictures every day, and they were all sorts of hot, tempting, personal types of pictures.
"Chen Xiu, if you have time to think about such things, why don't you check the formula again from just now? I keep feeling that there's a problem…"
Commenting was just a hobby. Nowadays, Yao Ailun and Chen Xiu spent most of their time at OMG's Wind God Experimental labs researching. The Wind God had embarked on research on version 3.0, and their considerations were how to add space navigation equipment into the Wind God. This was one of the steps to realizing space theories, and Xiao Fei was a part of it. This technology could be used in the military, and it could also be used for rescue missions in deep space, making interstellar adventures safer.
But of course, these were just preliminary ideas. Not even the Wind God 3.0 or 4.0 could use this technology. The goal was to conduct the first experiments in three years.
Wang Zheng had seen the design done by the two of them. It was clever, but it also had many problems that had to be resolved.
Chen Xiu shook his head. "That formula has an illogical flaw. We're better off without it. Moreover, it's the club's get-together day!"
Speaking of the club, Student Chen's eyes beamed, and he forgot about all those unhappy things from before. Out with the old, in with the new. Student Chen Xiu's most tightly held motto was: knowing when to let things go.
Yao Ailun patted Chen Xiu on the shoulder: "My dear Xiu, I promised your elder sister to look after you. You're still young, still going through puberty."
"Brother Ailun…. forget it. I should have gone into biomed back then…"
Chen Xiu looked at Yao Ailun. Deep inside, he knew that Ailun's three elder sisters had completely brainwashed this good friend of his.
Biomed. He could perhaps research medical compounds that could boost the growth of the human body.
Precisely because of his young age, he had gone through a lot of hardship, and thinking about it made him tear up. But he would make up for it sooner or later.
Nightfall. At the club gathering, the other party was made up of Du Qingqing and her friends from the Art Society. Surprisingly, Zhang Runan was one of them.
Zhang Shan was completely stunned.
"Why? I can't be here?" Zhang Runan glared sideways at Zhang Shan.
"Of course you can. Brother Nan, the one wearing spectacles, the little girl who looks gentle and refined, what is her name? What does she study?"
Zhang Shan's eyes lit up very quickly. After training in IG for so long, being back and seeing these types of girls who were gentle to the core made his heart turn soft.
"Bai Meng. She studies communications. Man up if you want to know her."
What's there to introduce? This was already a get-together. Very soon, Zhang Runan gave all her attention to all the different types of food.
Wang Zheng's purpose was also to eat. He glanced at Zhang Runan. "Eh? You're kind of different now."
Zhang Runan glared. "What? What's different?"
"Nothing." Wang Zheng shook his head. He may have been seeing things, or it might've been because he had spent too much time with Brother Nan, but somehow, he felt that Brother Nan's face was much softer than when they first met.
Zhang Runan ate and said, "My ability seems to have had some sort of breakthrough recently…. Plus, I feel that training my Ability X with you around is much more effective than when I train on my own. I think, if it's possible, we should train together during this period."
Wang Zheng nodded. It was a good idea. There was still some time before the actual IG matches would begin, and they could not truly let their guards down and relax.
Not too far from them, Zhang Shan had failed to hit on girls. Student Chen Xiu, on the other hand, was surrounded by a few girls, and was flirting and teasing.
"Which elder sister here would like to be my girlfriend?"
When Chen Xiu said that, the girls giggled and put out their hands to pinch poor Chen Xiu on the face. "Little Xiuxiu, you want your elder sisters here to wait another three to four years for you?"
Damn. He was actually very brave, but why must these people judge a book by its cover? Chen Xiu sighed. He was utterly disappointed with the session.
Calling it a get-together was an overstatement. It was pretty much just having a meal and getting to know one another. The freshmen from the Art Society were very interested in Wang Zheng. They heard about him from the seniors that Wang Zheng had previously modelled exclusively for some time ago.
"Senior Wang Zheng, when are you coming back to model for us? We've never had the chance to draw you before."
"Yea, that's right, Senior. We're all huge fans of you!"
Wang Zheng smiled. "Well, if I have time to spare."
What exclusive modelling? He had obviously been cheated that time.
Having had their fills, the next step was to go to a KTV to sing Karaoke. Ye Zisu and Meng Tian were going to join them.
"This one's on me."
Wang Zheng put up his hand to summon the waiter.
"Good evening, Sir. Your bill has been paid for by the few gentlemen over there."
The waiter smiled and hinted for Wang Zheng to look at a table of guests not too far away.
There were men and women, but Wang Zheng knew none of them.
"Awesome, man! Earthlings are the best! To you!"
The few men raised their glasses and drank it all. The ladies had a small sip. They too had looks of admiration in their eyes.
Wang Zheng smiled, raised the bottle of beer in his hands, and emptied it in one gulp. "Thank you."
They had no intentions of chasing a celebrity. It was more of admiration, and Wang Zheng enjoyed this type of acknowledgement.
On the faraway capital star of Aslan.
In the Royal College, Aina was sitting in the President's office, discussing matters regarding the quota for the upcoming exchange program with him.
The most discussed topic about Aslan's rise to power in the Milky Way was its super elite education. In Aslan, no one was ever considered weak. They used every single individual's talents and exhausted the research of every object. Education was never about grades, and learning was tailored to each individual's needs. Every individual could find their place in the empire with dignity and honor. Thus, every Aslan citizen could proudly shout "glory to Aslan."
The glory of Aslan belonged to each and every one of its citizens.
All the other countries in the Milky Way agreed that Aslan was strong not just because of the superior blood they were born with. It was more of their outstanding education. Every year, many countries and districts would send in their applications for exchange students. While they could never replicate Aslan's education system, they could learn a great deal.
Not every country could get a place in Aslan's exchange program. Since it was an exchange, it wasn't just about choosing the best and most outstanding students to go to Aslan. Students from Aslan would go to these different countries as well.
Countries that were not recognized by Aslan would never get a place, no matter how many applications had been sent in. Reason being, no students from Aslan were willing to go there.
"For the exchange program this time around, you could consider approving the Solar System's application."
The President of the Royal College was stunned. "Your Highness, given the Solar System's qualifications, they still cannot be considered for exchange."
Exchange was naturally not just about letting other countries come and learn from their own experience. It was also about learning from other country's best practices, and improving themselves by applying the good of others. This was the one Aslan fixed education policy. Never cling to the old, always innovate and break new grounds. Only then could Aslan's vitality stay undefeated for a long time.
"President Zetus Saarinen, sometimes we have to take into consideration political factors. Moreover, the Solar System is the cradle of mankind, and it is going through recovery now. They may still be far behind in terms of military, but there are now many things that are worth our learning from in terms of economy and culture. We should all understand that history can never be erased," Aina said, smiling.
"I will make further considerations." Zetus Saarinen bowed. Although this was brought up by the First Princess Her Royal Highness, only he could make the final decision.
Aina smiled. He may have said he would consider, but he had, in fact, agreed. It was just that some things could not be said directly. "If that is the case, I shall make a move."
When Aina left the President's office, she saw Lin Huiyin and Angela waiting for her outside. Seeing her come out of the room, Lin Huiyin immediately bounced up. "Hey, did the old man agree?"
For her, the only motive of giving the Solar System a place for an exchange student was for Wang Zheng to come to Aslan earlier.
Aina smiled and nodded. "He didn't directly agree, but I think it should be settled."
"So when can Wang Zheng come?" Lin Huiyin calculated the time it would take for Wang Zheng to arrive. If he took the larger interstellar passenger ships, he would probably make it to Aslan in a week.
"If everything goes well, in about a month or so."
"So long?"
Aina rubbed Lin Huiyin's head. "Why? You want to see him too?"
"No way, I'm just concerned for you," Lin Huiyin said, pouting.
"Let's go take a walk," Aina said lovingly.
Aslan's Royal College had the scenery of a landscape garden. Aina and Lin Huiyin took a stroll along the cherry blossom road. This path had the best views in the college. Especially at a time like this, where the flowers bloomed and the fragrant was in the air.
A few people were headed in their direction. The person walking right in front was a child of eight or nine years old.
"Your Royal Highness Hao Lin."
Aina smiled and stopped in her tracks, greeting him.
The child was not just anybody, but the Prince of Atlantis, Hao Lin.
"Your Royal Highness Aina, and Your Royal Highness Huiyin."
Hao Lin blinked. The cooperation between Atlantis and Aslan had entered an important phase at this time, and as he was starting to take over matters between Atlantis and human beings, he was stationed at the capital of Aslan.
After greeting one another, Hao Lin immediately put his serious look away and smiled cheerfully. "The cherry blossoms are beautiful indeed. They look just like pink-colored clouds. But the moment sisters Aina and Huiyin arrived, the cloud-like flowers lost their colors."
Huiyin blinked and smiled brightly. "You're so young but such a sweet talker! You will definitely grow up to become a handsome man whom girls love and hate."
Hao Lin shook his head. "Why would they hate me? Only love. Oh, Sister Huiyin, the last time you went to Solar System, did you see Wang Zheng too? How is he doing?"
"Wang Zheng? He's doing fine. You know him too?"
Aina gave a faint smile. "Why did you suddenly ask about him?"
Hao Lin nodded and smilingly said, "He's one of the few human beings whom I feel close to. I've been wonder if we could meet again. I heard he took part in IG too. Wonder if he can make it to Aslan."
"He has already made it through the Solar System's IG selection."
"That's great! Is he that good?"
"Of course."
When talking about Wang Zheng, Lin Huiyin's eyes gleamed brightly.
Aina gently swept her fringe aside, smiling faintly as she looked at Hao Lin, deep in thought.
Chapter 314: Pretending to be an Aslanian
Translator: Abyssruler Editor: Lucas
Aslan had sent out an announcement to the Solar System with regards to the exchange placement. The entire Solar System was aroused with excitement.
It was said that when the Solar System Federation's minister of education received the news, he almost stopped breathing. They had all thought that the application sent to Aslan this year would again be rejected. Who would have thought that they would approve it this time?
There were just too many who wanted to go to Aslan, but no matter who, and no matter how wealthy or powerful, Aslan would always reply with a smile: Sorry, your application has not been approved.
When the news about Aslan agreeing to have exchange students came, God knows how many prestigious families laid eyes on this opportunity, pulled strings, and even resorted to bribery to fight for a place for their own family.
"With regards to this, it must be handled properly and nicely. The conditions they have laid out is to select the most outstanding student in the Solar System. For that, we have to take things seriously right till the end. Nobody shall have any personal gains in this matter."
The Chairman of the Solar System Federation formally declared at the federal meeting. He no longer used political terms. It was straight up a warning.
"This exchange is an opportunity for the entire Federation. It seems that Aslan only agreed for an exchange due to political reasons, but for the federation, this is our chance to show our new generation to the entire Milky Way. The sun is rising. We are not sending a bunch of spoiled kids to be mocked."
All the underhanded dealings were squelched by the Chairman. The Solar System began its strict, open, fair, and just selection.
The whole matter had been viewed and dealt with as a political event that was pivotal to the resuscitation of the Solar System and was being closely supervised by every single citizen.
The entire Federation was excited. Everyone knew that the Solar System was regaining its place in the world. First economically, then academically…
The selections were highly intense. Many prodigies and geniuses had failed to make it. The quota that Aslan gave was only six. Being a genius was not enough. You had to be a genius that shone brightly before others.
Earth, Mars, Moon, Republic of Caragal, Europa…
Another wave of academic competition was raised between the key players of the Federation.
Finally, the list of names was revealed….
Earth: Wang Zheng, Ye Zisu.
Moon: Su Sa.
Mars: Dale.
Republic of Caragal: Gilbert.
Europa: Song Naina.
"Earth took two spots! That's unfair!"
"Nothing unfair about that. Ye Zisu was appointed by Aslan. Even if not for this opportunity, Aslan would also privately send her an invitation to study abroad."
The outstanding performance of the Wind God had caused a heated whirlwind in the Milky Way. As the designer of this mech, Ye Zisu had actually received an invitation from the Aslan Empire prior to this.
As for Wang Zheng's appointment, it was definitely undebatable. His contribution to the Space Theory had received recognition from the topmost class of scientific giants in the Milky Way.
But Student Wang Zheng was clearly upset. Of course he wanted to go to Aslan… Aina must be waiting for him there.
But…
"Why didn't I get the place under the Mech Department but rather under the Physics Department?"
Wang Zheng had been stated as a student from the Physics Department on the list, and not the Mech Department like he had hoped for.
The answer Xiao Fei gave him was: If you had used your identity as a mech student, you may not have been chosen. To put it more directly, Aslan had no eyes for the military standards of the Solar System Federation.
Wang Zheng crumbled. Physics Department….. so be it.
At the celebratory dinner in Ares College, President Gu Te's eyes were teary. He patted Wang Zheng and Ye Zisu on the shoulder hard and did not say a thing. Anything said at this time would be superfluous.
The teaching staff was very agitated, too. Those who didn't usually drink also opened bottles of beer and cheered.
The rise of Ares College was now unstoppable. In the latest rankings, they had come in first on Earth, and third in the entire Solar System. They were right behind the Moon's Moonlight College and Mars' Heavenly Star College.
What the students felt was a bright future ahead of them. In particular, the freshmen who had just been enrolled. Their seniors' proactiveness had inspired them to fight for themselves. Be it learning or training, they all felt a lot more energetic.
Xiao Fei drank too. Her face was blushing red. She grabbed Wang Zheng and Ye Zisu and said, "The capital of Aslan is really pretty fun. When we get there, I'll show you around…"
"Eh? Professor, you're going to Aslan too?"
"You're going, why can't I?"
"It's not that…"
"It's not just me, Professor Marcus will be going too. We're going to conduct experiments mainly. If we want to speed up the realization of our theories, we have to borrow Aslan's technology… more accurately, their equipment. Stingy, miserly Aslan. They just refuse to export the equipment."
Xiao Fei and company departed on a later date. Wang Zheng and Ye Zisu had already set off on their journey. Before they left, Yan Xiaosu had teared up like an abandoned pet dog. He finally let go when Wang Zheng promised to get Aina to introduce him to a new girlfriend.
This time around, when traveling to Aslan, they took the super long distance interstellar flight named Newcomen.
"Su Sa from Moonlight College. Nice to meet you."
At the dinner party on Newcomen, everybody introduced themselves to one another. Su Sa from Moon was a graceful girl. Her fingers were long and tender, and her nails were elegantly painted. She was as arrogant as a princess. People from the Moon were born with a feeling of superiority.
The news had introduced Su Sa as the most talented economics prodigy the Solar System had seen in a few hundred years. She had published numerous academic papers on prominent financial magazines, and her article, "Integrating the Laws of Generalisation with Quantification of Minute Communities," had been widely recognized.
"Wang Zheng, Ares College, Physics Department." Wang Zheng chuckled.
"Ye Zisu, Ares College. Please treat me kindly."
The rest did not care much for Earth. Short termed growth could not change a perception built over a long period of time.
"Dale, Mars. No need to be kind. Pretty lady, you wanna get some coffee later?" Dale from Mars was a professor in bioengineering. Just like Wang Zheng, he was a student and an honorary professor in college. He had a slightly narcissistic and wild personality, and was said to be very well liked by girls.
"Caragal, Gilbert." Gilbert had a very soft voice. It was as if he was afraid he'd be spotted. However, his talent in computing and internet put him in the top thousand in the entire Milky Way and the whole of mankind.
Do not belittle this ranking. One thousand may sound like a lot, but on average, not every planet could have a genius like him.
"Song Naina, Europa. Nothing special about me. I only know how to study." Unlike ordinary Europa people, Song Naina had soft and tender skin, and the tan in her skin reflected a different, unique grace. Her snow white teeth made her more affable, and she had a gentle look. Very pretty. Her full lips brought out a feeling of sexiness through her innocent look.
After a brief round of introductions, everybody soon felt more at ease. It was just that the things they talked about were a bit profound…
"Sorry, I'm not interested in coffee. I'm even less interested in you." Moon's Su Sa rejected Dale's invitation sharply.
Dale smiled chivalrously, turned around, and extended the same invitation to Song Naina. A cup of coffee later? If you don't like coffee, we can get tea.
Song Naina graciously accepted, but turned around to bring Gilbert along.
"Can I not go…."
"No, you can't. I heard you're very good at modifying electronic devices. Could you take a look at my Skylink later and see if there's any room for improvement?"
"Oh… your Skylink belongs to the Manifestation 0908 series. You can make improvements, but just to check, what is your core application? That is, the Skylink application that you use most frequently and can't do without."
Su Sa had held on to Ye Zisu, and they started talking about topics unique to girls. How to draw their brows so they wouldn't look uneven, how to apply blusher so that their faces would look more well defined…
Wang Zheng happily enjoyed his food. They had booked a luxury suite, and everything was the best. Even the food was prepared by the head chef. Other passengers did not have such good fortune.
Here, no one minded Wang Zheng's identity or achievements. Everyone had their own achievements they were proud of.
IG Team Leader? It was not something of their level, and they could not feel how great an achievement it was.
Space-time theory? Wasn't that something done by Xiao Fei?
Only Xiao Fei would flatter her own students like that. It can only be said that he was extremely, extremely in luck.
For Wang Zheng, this was a rare moment of peace and quiet. Back at Ares College, other than attending classes, he had to deliver classes on Xiao Fei's behalf, and he could only work on his Primordial Regression Technique at night. In the battle against the pirates, he indeed saw his own weakness and his lack of technique in using force, his Ability X in particular. He only knew how to erupt at a basic level. It was really bad. Otherwise, Black Charcoal Head and Bonehead wouldn't have had to exert themselves.
He took a deep breath and focused all his attention on the Primordial Regression Technique.
Unlike training on the ground, the Primordial Regression Technique felt lighter and more fluid in space. The cycle and change of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth felt a lot clearer. Attraction, inhibition, change. Wang Zheng had an illusion that he encompassed the universe, or the universe was taking him in. It was as if he was conversing with the universe.
After days of traveling, Dale was close to getting Song Naina. The two of them came and went together, seemingly close. But it was clear that Song Naina was not an ignorant woman, and she did not really let Dale take advantage of her. To Wang Zheng, Song Naina was just making use of Dale to pass time.
Dale, on the other hand, was doing his best to charm her. He came from a prestigious family on Mars, and even though it was not as old and powerful as the Lie family, its capabilities were not to be undermined.
It was the last day of their journey. When Newcomen leapt out of the subspace, Wang Zheng couldn't bear to leave. Time had passed by very quickly.
"Dear passengers, we will arrive at Aslan's Okimia Space Harbor in thirty minutes…"
"Dale, does your family really own property on Aslan?" Song Naina was very interested in that. Anything that had to do with Aslan felt classy and elegant, the same way potties used by emperors could also become antiques and artifacts.
"Heh. No need to doubt that. According to how Aslan treats their exchange students, we should automatically report to the Royal College when we arrive. I've already sent a message for our family's servant in Aslan to come pick us up later. A born and bred Aslanian."
No matter how advanced Aslan was, it was still a monarchy, and the rich and powerful were masters. Social class still existed, and the royalty and aristocrats belonged to the ruling class, while the citizens were the middle class. Below them were the commoners, and these so-called commoners were essentially servants. It's just that the term "commoners" seemed more graceful.
Hiring an Aslanian commoner as a helper in Aslan was most certainly a classic move of arrogance.
"Really, an Aslanian?" Song Naina batted her eyelids, with a seductive look in her eyes. She was playing hard to get with Dale. She wouldn't be cherished if she was too easy to get.
"Whether it's real or not, you'll know when you see it."
Dale was very proud of himself. Anybody who had a huge property on Aslan, or could order Aslanians around, would feel proud of him or herself. It felt just like an ordinary man having the power to order heavenly guards around.
Chapter 315: Big Shot
Translator: Abyssruler Editor: Lucas
Song Naina blinked her huge eyes and smiled, behaving even more intimately with Dale. Dale had pretty good qualities. He stood out from the countless geniuses in the Solar System and became an exchange student at Aslan. This was enough to prove his excellence and show that he didn't merely hail from a prestigious family. She wouldn't lose anything to have a deeper relationship with him. Women from Europa were good at taking the initiative. Moreover, she had been looking for an opportunity like this to jump through the ranks.
Yet for the most part, Dale kept his eyes on Ye Zisu. All three ladies were great, but Ye Zisu was clearly one of a kind and had a unique charm. If he had to distinguish the three of their differences, Ye Zisu's beauty was the most natural. She did not put on any pretense. Just one look and he could tell that she came from a good family. But for Song Naina and Su Sa, they were nurtured and groomed. They were beautiful, no doubt, but lacked a certain feeling. There were plenty of ordinary women like that.
It was a pity Ye Zisu and Wang Zheng were way too close. Dale sized up his own arms and thighs, and even a hundred and one of him wouldn't be Wang Zheng's match. But Wang Zheng looked extremely unsophisticated and had very poor tastes. That gave Dale an advantage.
"Su Sa, Wang Zheng, Ye Zisu, and Gilbert, my Aslanian servant has arrived. Let's go to my mansion in Aslan to have a couple of days' fun before we report."
Dale was all smiley when he invited everybody. The capital of Aslan, Mengtalis, was top three in terms of property value per area in the whole of Milky Way. Owning a mansion and a true-blooded Aslan servant here definitely was the style of royalty.
Gilbert looked at him admiringly. How awesome!
Wang Zheng smiled. "Zisu and I have something going on, we'll go straight to school."
Ye Zisu nodded, indicating that Wang Zheng spoke for her.
"What's the rush for school? Wang Zheng alone can make the arrangements for us. Miss Zisu, Miss Su Sa, you have to come, you'll definitely be surprised!" Dale smiled as if he was an expert on Aslan.
Su Sa blinked and nodded to show deference. "Alright. I'm curious to see the environment of your home in Aslan too."
It was undeniable that Dale's greatness had attracted her. Su Sa came from a wealthy family, but it was still unable to get to Aslan. If this Dale really had such capabilities, it would be okay to interact with him a bit more. She had actually intended to get an Aslanian boyfriend, and later, migrate to Aslan.
"I'm not trying to brag, but in the entire Solar System Federation, there's just a dozen or so men who can compete with me," Dale said, nose in the air.
He was clearly bragging. The number of wealthy people Wang Zheng alone knew was way more than that, but Dale's family should be pretty good too. If he were to refute Dale at this point, he would appear petty instead.
Here at the capital of Aslan, saying that every inch of land cost ten thousand gold would not be wrong. Especially for the people of Aslan, just the stamp duty of buying a house in Aslan could get them a three-story detached villa on Mars in an area where wealthy people lived.
Ye Zisu looked at Wang Zheng. She liked his faint smile and his mature behavior. Dale was simply too childish. He couldn't wait to brag and show off. Girls didn't like boys like him. Even though he was capable, he shouldn't do that, but…
Capable and mature boys like Wang Zheng were rare gems.
It was too bad that only Ye Zisu thought that way. When Su Sa and the rest heard about Wang Zheng's background, they had lost all interest in him.
A top student from the Physics Department, team leader of IG? What's the use of that? Could that be used to buy pretty things, or to provide them with food?
"Dear passengers, we have arrived at the destination of this interstellar journey, Okimia Space Harbor. Please prepare to leave the spacecraft, and please do not leave behind your personal belongings."
Finally, the news of arrival aired in the spacecraft's public announcement system.
Dale smiled. "Dear schoolmates, just follow me when we leave the spacecraft later. I've been to Okimia Space Harbor a few times myself. I am very familiar with it."
Very soon, there were service crew members to lead them out of the spacecraft through a special tunnel. When they passed through the ramp that linked Newcomen and the space boulevard, they could see the outside through the windows. It was a futuristic space harbor. It was full of people, but they were separated in an orderly manner, as if they were queueing. There was not a single sign of mess.
From the ramp down the elevator and entering the space harbor itself, everybody stopped in their tracks. They didn't feel it when they saw it from above, but when they were inside, they could see and feel how big the harbor was. The dome ceiling was a transparent gold alloy glass, separating them from space, and when lifted their heads, they could see hundreds of spaceships entering or leaving the port. One by one, the ramps connected with the spaceships, transporting goods and passengers.
In front of them was a road lit up by smart signs. Every road was separated by color according to its use. Washroom, resting room, waiting room, elevators, information counter…. to get to these places, you'd just have to use your Skylink to connect to the service signals, and the lights would guide you to wherever you need to go.
It was extremely convenient, and at the same time, it cleverly controlled the human traffic.
This was Aslan.
"Everybody, follow me. This way."
Dale took on the role of chaperone. All through the way, he did not stop talking and bragging, passing his judgment on everything. All the other boys in this group had become spiritless, while the girls were all subdued.
Dale used the Skylink to connect to the space harbor's servers while explaining, "The person who's going to pick us up is already outside. The space harbour does not allow people to come in for pick ups."
"Are you sure? I've seen on Aslan news that you can even drive into the space harbor to pick people up," Song Naina said, blinking her huge eyes quickly.
Dale chuckled. "Heh. Those who can get on news are bigshots. That is done for safety reasons. You can't possibly expect other countries' leaders or important businessmen to walk out like ordinary men, right?"
Dale had barely finished his sentence when three black magnetic cars drove towards them from afar.
Buzzz…..
The soft, buzzing engine sounds made the whole space harbor turn silent. On the front of the grills was the crest of the royal family, indicating the identity of the car.
Dale's jaw dropped. He opened up his Skylink and made a quick search. "A royal car? Which bigshot are they picking up? That's not right, there's no news of it on the political news site."
Song Naina watched with curiosity. "Could they be picking up an important figure from the business world? Check the business news."
"The probability of bumping into some bigshots here is simply too high. Get ready to take pictures!" Dale said excitedly. "Send it to the Skylink chat group later on and share it with everyone else."
An opportunity to put on a false pretense must never be missed.
The cars pulled up in front of them.
The windows of the frontmost car rolled down. Wang Zheng smiled. He saw very clearly the person sitting by the window. It was Angela, the one who followed Huiyin around everywhere she went. Huiyin had already sent him a message on Skylink. Now that he was in Aslan, she had to play host no matter what.
Dale caught sight of Wang Zheng walking towards the car and jumped. Panicked, he tugged at Wang Zheng. "Wang Zheng, don't embarrass yourself. That's the VIP car of the Aslanian royal family."
Wang Zheng smiled. "Oh, I know that."
Dale blinked. Damn it. Keeping quiet the whole time and choosing to act like a bigshot at this time, was he brainless? Dale infuriatedly said, "Don't embarrass the Solar System. The royal family only sends a car when there are important political figures and aristocrats…"
"It's not that, I…"
"I know you want to chase after a celebrity, but can you not be so crass? Keep it in your pants!" Dale despised Wang Zheng more and more.
Angela got out of the vehicle. She was wearing a formal suit, a silver-striped white blouse with a black skirt that covered up to her knees. A typical outfit of the royal family's service crew. Very imposing. "Mr. Wang Zheng, Miss. Ye Zisu, please come on board."
Dale's mouth opened widely.. this….
Wang Zheng smiled. "Zisu and I have something to do. We'll see you in school."
The two of them got on the car, leaving behind a group of people staring dumbly. In the car, Ye Zisu couldn't help but giggle. "Big Brother, you've become corrupted by Xiaosu I see."
Wang Zheng was between laughter and tears. "I really didn't do that on purpose. That brother over there chose to pick on me. What can I do?"
He couldn't possibly stop others from being cocky.
Angela sent Wang Zheng and Ye Zisu directly to the Royal College's office of foreign affairs. Given her influence, Wang Zheng and Ye Zisu completed all related paperwork within the shortest possible time. They implanted Royal College IDs in their Skylinks. These IDs allowed them to make all types of transactions in Aslan.
As they walked out of the office, Angela bowed and said, "Your luggage has been delivered to the dormitories. I have other tasks at hand. I shall not disturb you."
After finishing her line, Angela turned around sharply to leave the Royal College. But Angela's mind was not as sharp as her movements. The two princesses were simply playing with fire. Princess Aina was not her master, and she had no rights to be worried, but she had sworn her life to protect Her Royal Highness Huiyin. This gave her a headache.
The dormitories were prepared beforehand. Their locations and the electronic keys had also been implanted into their Skylinks earlier on.
They opened up the campus map on Skylink, and a hologram screen extended in the air…
Ye Zisu blinked. Looking at the indications on the campus map, the locations of her dormitory and Wang Zheng's…. one in the south and one in the north. If they travelled by legs, even if they ran, it would take at least 15 minutes.
Even though it was very well concealed, Ye Zisu could sense that it was deliberately arranged, and she couldn't help but smile. Thinking about it now, when she had just gotten to know Lin Huiyin, Lin Huiyin meant to matchmake her and Wang Zheng. Now it felt like the opposite.
"The scenery at the Royal College is pretty good." Ye Zisu blinked. Reminiscing those days was rather… delightful. There was a feeling that he belonged solely to her.
"The environment's not bad." Wang Zheng nodded. It was full of unique but foreign sights. There were some very odd, enormous plants. Some looked magical, with moving petals in the plants. When someone went near them, they would eject a colorful, fragrant pollen. It was beautiful. The overall architectural styles were also different from Earth and from the main style of buildings in the Solar System. They were mostly spiral, very aesthetically pleasing.
The pretty girls here were as lush as the plants. All sorts of beautiful sights flooded their eyes, and there were too many things to look at. If Yan Xiaosu were here, he would be howling about how Aslan was paradise.

Of course, there were also plenty of handsome men. The ever superior gene pool of Aslan made other places in the Milky Way speechless. It also a guarantee of Aslan's strengths.
And the Royal College was at the top of the pyramid of Aslan.
When one arrived at the Royal College, there was only one feeling: this was the world of elites. People who lacked confidence would never be able to survive this place.
Wang Zheng sent Ye Zisu to her dorm room and slowly strolled back to his own.
He passed by a clear, beautiful lake. Clear Water Lake. It had a magical story behind it. It was said that the lake was linked to the palace, and a few hundred years ago, during a rebellion that took place in the Aslanian palace, the rebels sealed the palace. In the most crucial moment, a princess laid a floating lotus lantern that contained the records of the rebellion into the stream in the royal palace. The lantern floated downstream, and when it came to Clear Water Lake, a student retrieved it. The news got of the rebellion got out, and an army loyal to the royal family quickly went to their rescue, taking out the rebels. The princess was Fio Aslan, the most renowned, unrivalled queen in the history of Aslan. The rise of the Aslan Empire began with her.
Even though scholars later proved that the water sources in the palace were not at all linked to Clear Water Lake, the people chose to believe in this legend.
Looking at the soft, crystalline ripples in the lake, Wang Zheng wondered if Aina had ever set a lotus lantern off in the palace.
He took in a deep breath. Aina breathed the air here too. This was Aina's hometown. He really felt close to her now. Uncontrollably, Wang Zheng's heart pumped faster and faster.
At the dormitory, he swiped and unlocked the electronic lock and entered the room. The room was huge. It was clearly a special arrangement. The fridge was filled with food. A little note was stuck in the center.
"I made the heart-shaped biscuits. Remember to eat them. The other cake was made by Huiyin!"
It was not signed off, but he was very familiar with the light fragrance.
Looking at the note, an image of the adorable and gentle Aina immediately came to Wang Zheng's mind. He really wanted to embrace her.
He smiled and took out the food from the refrigerator, and starting wolfing it down. How aromatic!
The next day, his Skylink received a notification from the Physics Department. The classes for the exchange program would only officially begin the day after the next. These two days were for them to roam about the Royal College freely for familiarization. They could also attend any class they liked to get a feel of the atmosphere. All of a sudden, nobody bothered Wang Zheng.
Lunchtime. Wang Zheng had walked around the whole morning and was roughly familiar with the Royal College. He called Ye Zisu on the Skylink. "Wanna have lunch together?"
On screen, Ye Zisu smiled. "I'm at the Royal College's School of Mech Design. I think I'll have to grab a bento here for lunch. Your little sister Xiao Shi has yet to appear?"
The Royal College's School of Mech Design had always been interested in the Wind God mech. Upon hearing that Ye Zisu had arrived at the Royal College, they couldn't wait to get in contact with her to have all sorts of discussions. It has to be said the experts knew it when they saw it. Over here, Ye Zisu could indeed receive a lot of help.
"Ahem. Not yet. Her status makes it inconvenient. You go get busy, I'll go eat first," said Wang Zheng. He could tell that Ye Zisu has already gotten into it.
"Well, cheer up!" Ye Zisu's laughter came from the other end.
He hung up on the Skylink and had a ravaging meal. The environment here was truly elegant and comfortable. But overall, it still had the air of a school campus and was not too different. Wang Zheng looked at the enormous grounds and decided to go to the training fields to have a sense of Aslan's training arenas.
Following the guidance of the campus map, he came to a building with a domineering air. It was in the shape of a sword, and a humongous model of a mech stood at the main doors. It was Aslan's most well-known primitive mech, Pioneer Generation 1.
This was Aslan Royal College's mech training grounds. The training grounds were split into two types: a virtual battlefield and a real training field.
The Royal College was purportedly one of the top three colleges in the Milky Way, so they naturally had no shortage of real mecha. But using real mecha was not very convenient, and the authority required to activate one was too high-levelled. Most students used the virtual battlefields for training.
Unlike other places, even though it was known as a virtual battlefield, they still used real mecha for training. It was just the environment that was virtual. From the training windows, he could see individual cubicles of training rooms, and the booming sounds of mecha did not stop. The door on every training room was equipped with all-rounded data analytics. The facilities were rather complete.
The training rooms were also divided according to levels. There were many categories. Low-end mecha, high-end mecha, Aslanian mecha, and mecha from other systems. They could only enter the rooms based on their level of authorisation. The levels of access that seniors and outstanding students had were different.
This ranking of authority was also part of the Aslan Empire's elitist policy.
Wang Zheng was an exchange student, and he didn't have results yet. He had the lowest level of access. But since he wasn't a student from the Mech Department, he couldn't use the training rooms here, just as mech students were not allowed to use the Physics Department's laboratories as they wished.
Everyone in the training fields was training. It seemed like the Mech Department was having classes. He came at a wrong time.
It might have been a free training period. There were no instructors around.
Wang Zheng shrugged helplessly. He recalled the condition of Ares College and really wanted to take a few of these mecha back with him. Although they also had mock trainings like that, their conditions were extremely bad compared to this.
They didn't have a choice. The Earth district's military had gradually gone from a dominant role to a supporting role.
He was just about to leave when a training room's doors opened and a head popped out. The person smiled widely upon seeing Wang Zheng.
"Hi, friend, could you do me a favor?" the other person said in a fluent Milky Way lingua franca, which was pleasing to the ears. There was a slight Aslanian accent in it.
Wang Zheng looked around and pointed to himself. "Me?"
"Yea, there's just the two of us here." The other guy looked around and waved at him frantically.
Wang Zheng walked over. That guy seemed anxious. "Brother, please help me. Something urgent cropped up and I need to leave. Could you stay here for me? I will be back in 10 minutes. I will thank you well!"
He looked roughly the same age as Wang Zheng and had very strong arms. His anxiousness did not seem like a pretense.
"I just have to stay here?" asked Wang Zheng.
"Yes, yes. My girlfriend is very mad, I have to go deal with her. Damn it!"
He ran off quickly as he finished his sentence, Skylink ringing away non-stop.
Wang Zheng couldn't help but shake his head. Was it that tough to skip classes in Aslan?
There was an Aslan Empire heavy mech in the cockpit. It was a basic tank type, but still one of those rarer-to-find heavy mecha.
The four main basic mecha of the Aslan Empire had essentially been replaced by the military. The country was powerful, and the military was well funded. Only a few countries could afford to replace them. But these four mecha types were classic and were still frequently used for regular training.
Aslan's four basic mecha types were: Metal Guard (tank), Elite Guard (warrior), Assassin Guard (assassin), Agile Guard (sniper).
The one before Wang Zheng's eyes was a Metal Guard. As main tank assault type mecha were mostly beast types, the Aslanian Metal Guard was considered special.
The mech was bulky and heavy and had a lower center of gravity. It was ferocious and vigorous, indeed possessing all sorts key elements of a heavy tank mecha.
Wang Zheng was excited by the sight of the mech. He was waiting idly anyway. After touching it, he couldn't help but enter the cockpit.
Chapter 317: Who was That?

Although it was just a basic mech, he felt comfortable and compatible the moment he sat in it. Every pilot had a certain feeling with mecha, and while it can't be said that it would affect their performance, these details could indeed show in their techniques. It was seeking excellence as it is.
But basic mecha were simply made to have such qualities, and one could only accept that.
It was a pity that Wang Zheng couldn't remember the feeling of operating the Atlantis Phantom King back then. Or rather, that was not within his capabilities. But at least it proved that he could pilot a mech as long as he used the right methods.
"Would you like to resume training?"
A pop-up screen entered Wang Zheng's line of vision. Wang Zheng selected "Yes".
Training in a heavy mech should be quite interesting. He badly wanted to understand what the training system was like in Aslan. Sigh, there were just so many bothersome things. He was from the Physics Department, and he wanted to think of a way to switch departments.
What an headache. It was also rather upsetting that his identity of the Solar System's IG team leader was not as useful as his achievements in physics.
What a fraud!
Jialan, presumably the name of the person who had just ran out, had been going through mech movement training.
At Aslan, fundamentals and techniques were the most esteemed and were treated with the greatest significance. Even though they had the best mecha in the Milky Way, Aslan had always carried on the creeds of nurturing outstanding pilots. Only a good pilot could unleash the potential of a good mech. Blindly going after mech technology was putting the cart before the horse. Regardless, men were the main body.
Wang Zheng watched the training demo with a glimmer of excitement in his eyes. Even a heavy mech had to undergo movement training of such difficulty?
Among the different types of mecha, heavy mech were mainly used to suppress the enemy using firepower and unyielding attacks. Things like movement were not important. What was most important was being unafraid of death. But at Aslan, this was not the case.
The training of movement in different terrains and training to dodge attacks were split into many levels according to its difficulty. Furthermore, the training was rather well targeted, even analyzing the opponent's status. Looking at the long list of training types, the quality of the warrior nurtured would be truly great if the entire set was mastered.
This goes to show that it wasn't just the hardware that was great, their software was even better. Their strength and power did not occur by chance. It was accumulated bit by bit.
The rise of the Solar System could not be rushed. Good preparation was the key to success.
But again, taking their time wouldn't work either. Perhaps they'd need something exciting to heat up the atmosphere of change.
It was not Wang Zheng's place to worry about these things. He was very quickly attracted by the training.
The operation of the Metal Guard was easy. Most of the basic mecha types had simple systems of operations, but it was difficult to use them well.
While it was a virtual battle simulation, the mech was real. The level of difficulty in operation would reflect entirely on the pilot. But to Wang Zheng, it was just a matter of taking a bit more time to adjust the muscle memory on strength.
Even though it was a heavy mech, it was very flexible in that there was large room for movement, giving the pilot more than enough room to display his qualities.
This was the unique characteristic of Aslanian mecha. The functions of a mech would not limit a pilot's display of skills. Even the basic models did that so well. Student Wang was indeed a little envious and jealous about all of that, but when he thought about it, this was Aina's country, and so he let it slide.
It was evident that sometimes, even men couldn't be trusted when it came to time. The proclaimed ten minutes had long passed, and Wang Zheng had completed two training sessions.
It was truly quite difficult. After two training sessions, he had broke out in sweat. Given Wang Zheng's current physical strength and status, it was rather rare.
"Training Complete. Congratulations, Student Jialan."
Wang Zheng stared blankly. The screen had turned dark…
Damn, the guy had only asked him to stay here and keep watch, why did he do other people's work? Now the screen had turned off automatically. He looked at the time, and half an hour had gone by. F*ck…
His bad habit had recurred. He couldn't help himself whenever he saw mech.
If all else failed, run!
Wang Zheng saw that there was nobody outside and disappeared in an instant. Phew.
Jialan also ran for his life. It was just a pity he couldn't fly. When girls got mad, it was quite a headache. They were completely unreasonable. He was in class! This was just testing the limits. He hoped that Old Ghost had not returned. If Old Ghost found out that he had left his post during training, the consequences would be dire.
God bless him!
Jialan burst through the main gate and dashed towards his training room. He made a turn and froze.
Damn, what international affair was that!?
A group of people was crowding outside his training room, ….. with Old Ghost.
This was definitely the time to run away. That's right, turn back and find a wall to run into and then say he had gone to the medical center.
He was just about to leave when someone tapped him on the shoulder. "Ah, Jialan, what are you doing here? The teacher is looking for you, go quickly!"
Jialan smiled. He looked horrible. Even though Old Ghost treated him quite well, this was something serious. What Old Ghost hated most was people leaving their posts.
At the Royal College, it was a must to respect your teachers and elders. It was not just a tradition. The teachers held the immense powers of recommendation. That was, anybody who wanted to join the Royal Guard and military had to be recommended by a teacher. Only the cream of the crop could join.
"Jialan, you're doomed. Old Ghost has been in there for ten minutes and he's still not out yet."
One of his friends teased.
"Lannykins, not erupting in the silence means that you have been destroyed in silence. Congratulations to you, you're finally destroyed."
The crowd laughed. Everybody had skipped classes before, but most teachers and instructors were not so rigid, and Old Ghost was definitely an exception. He was super rigid and old-fashioned. Results were important, but he also had particularly high expectations in discipline. For that reason, everybody was especially careful when in Old Ghost's class. Even if he wasn't around, nobody dared to leave their posts.
Jialan was definitely testing Old Ghost's limits.
Jialan felt like a completely deflated ball. Why was he in such a pitiful plight? This was basically putting a gun in his own mouth.
Sigh, women were nothing but trouble.
Bam bam bam…
No response from the inside. Seemed like Old Ghost was angrier than he imagined. He's doomed for.
Mustering up his courage, Jialan knocked again.
The door burst open. The bystanders all took a step back, distancing themselves from Jialan.
A fire in the city gates should not bring calamity upon the fish in moats.
Old Ghost looked very serious. The atmosphere was suppressed to a certain point, and Jialan clenched his teeth and said,
"Professor, I've done wrong… I…"
Resisting would definitely be dealt with strictly, and being honest was the only way to get out of here alive.
Old Ghost interrupted Jialan, sizing Jialan up with an odd expression on his face. "Was it you or not?"
Everybody was confused by Old Ghost's bewilderment. Old Ghost had always been swift and decisive. What was wrong with him today?
"Professor, I've done wrong. I should not have slipped out during training," said Jialan.
Old Ghost waved his hand. "I'm not asking you about that. Did you complete basic training A?"
The students broke out into discussion. The level of difficulty of basic training A was extremely high. It involved all types of movement tests, and it was difficult even if they used a more agile mech, let alone the Metal Guard. Everybody knew that Jialan was trying to break through this level, but they were not optimistic about it.
Jialan stared blankly, scratched his head, and said, "I've got two more important levels, very tricky, can't finish them at all."
"So who completed them for you?" Old Ghost asked, pointing to the darkened screen.
This was what happened when training was completed.
Jialan's jaw dropped lower and lower. What the heck happened? He dashed up immediately.
Oh, heck, it was really complete. He had been trying for a month now and had never succeeded once. What the heck was going on?
Numb nuts.
Old Ghost was stunned too. "It really wasn't you?"
"Not me. My girlfriend wanted to break up with me, so I had no choice but to go out… Oh, there was someone here just now, so I got him to stay in for me for a short while. About half an hour…."
Jialan was stupefied. "Could it be…"
"Impossible. Completing the two most difficult levels in half an hour? Could it be Oz or Aurora stirring trouble?"
Jialan mumbled. It was possible for them to complete it, but they were not heavy mech pilots, and they shouldn't be interested in this.
"They have are accompanying the Princess Her Royal Highness out on a visit and have not returned!" Old Ghost shook his head. "What did he look like?"
Jialan was stumped. He scratched his head and said, "I can't remember.. I think.. very ordinary. Not Aslanian."
Old Ghost stared. There were plenty of students who were not from the Aslan Empire at the Royal College. Where were they going to find him!
"The next time you see him, you'd better ask about it!"
Jialan wiped his sweat. He didn't expect for things to end just like that. He thought that he'd be skinned even if he didn't die.
"You take a good look at the training replay!" Old Ghost tossed a sentence at him.
Jialan and friends rushed in right away. He scanned his Skylink and reactivated the replay.
And the whole house fell completely silent…. What the hell was going on…
Student Wang was already strolling worry-free on the roads of Aslan. It was comfortable having worked out a little. It seemed like he had better find a way to get into the Mech Department quickly. The atmosphere at Aslan was really great. It'd be even better if he could exchange a few pointers with others.
Jialan crawled into the cockpit and watched the replay. Who was that, really? Who was so powerful? It was very difficult to move using a Metal Guard. Could it really have been… that nerdy-looking guy?
Jialan really couldn't remember what the other person looked like. He only felt that he had a comforting smile, or how would you put it, very trustworthy.
The replay began.
The Metal Guard was rather stiff at first, and it was clear that the person inside was familiarizing with the operations of this type of mech. Jialan was a pilot specializing in heavy mech, and his understanding of heavy mech was one of the best in the Royal College. Otherwise, Old Ghost wouldn't value him so highly.
By the looks of the operations, this person was not a heavy mech pilot.
But soon, Jialan's jaw dropped. On the screen, the Metal Guard was making dodging movements as if he was chasing after butterflies. It was hard to imagine what sort of pilot was sitting in there.
Dodging the thunderstorm district, making judgments and impressive pre-judgements. For heavy mech, avoiding and dodging required one to pre-judge the situation, and on top of that, eyes, hands, and muscle responses had to be quick.
This person was way too fast!
The guy's pre-judgement timing was one full second faster than his!
This was simply impossible. At this level, making a judgement one second faster was against the laws of nature.
No wonder Old Ghost was so shocked. Damn. This person must have had some sort of special technique. He would be even better if he could master this technique!
Jialan felt his heart burn. What a pity. He had missed such a great opportunity because of his girlfriend. He really didn't understand women sometimes. Men liked mecha and not other girls, what was there to be jealous of?
