Avril smiled over at Bain a carefree smile as she walked away from The Wenches Tavern. Bain on the other hand scowled like he had given away something precious to him. His anger streamed through his eyes making them shine Ruby red. Avril ignored him thoroughly, turning to the left she started working her way back into the Spiral City. As she was walking down the street she said to Bain "Thank you for today. I know maybe you felt like you didn't do much, but you had my back. I'm in unfamiliar territory and having someone I trust is important." Bain looked up his anger gleaming in his eyes. before Avril could blink he was in her face, slamming her against the walls. his growl rumbled through her chest as he pushed her harder.
"I was not happy with what just happened in there. Not only was I in the dark about everything you were going to do, you gave away your time and offered to become an indentured servant if your deal should go awry. Now tell me how am I supposed to feel about my mate giving herself away to someone other than me?!!" at Avril golden eyes widening Bains anger washed away. As he looked at Avril he realized why her eyes had widened so much.
"What did you say?" Avril whispered in shock. "Did you say 'mate' Bain? I think you must be mistaken. there's no way"
Bain looked at Avril in exasperation" Think about it Avril. why do you think we have this connection, it's like being sucked into a tornado. there's a constant pull towards eachother. How come you have this deep seated feeling that you can trust me? do you think it's a coincidence?" Avril stared at Bain a look of complex emotions flashed through her eyes. confusion followed by comprehension, then anxiety and fear grew into her eyes. Suddenly it was like an iron door had slammed over all of the feelings she was having. her eyes that gleamed with life not more than five seconds ago turned dull as she remembered the abuse of her love in her previous life. How he had used her to satisfy himself then sold her out to the highest bidder. She shook her head, dispelling the memories creeping into her brain like cobwebs. "Bain step back... now please. " Avril looked into Bains eyes hers dull. her flat tone held no emotion. Bain was confused at the sudden switch in her. It was like the lively Kitsune he held trapped between his arms and the wall had turned into a being of shadows and death. Her sudden cold aura made him feel he had done something wrong. but what?? he had just told her the truth. Bains confusion grew as he looked down to find Avril gone. Bain turned around to find her already twenty feet away from him. Her head bowed down and her tail low to the ground. Her ears shuddered against her white hair. "Bain thank you for your help today. I owe you one. But that is it. We will have no other connection from now on." Bain looked even more shocked. "What the hell Avril? What's wrong? I know it might have been shocking to find out that I'm your Mate, but you can't just act like there isn't a connection between us!" Avril looked over her shoulder at him. "Bain, there is no connection between us. What you feel, I can't reciprocate it. I'm broken already." with those words Avril vanished in a flash of Kitsune fire. Bain was left shell shocked in the slums of Spiral City. Not comprehending anything that happened.
