Chapter 7 - Chapter 6

"S-Sorry." I stuttered, clearing my throat and averting away my gaze. The room fell into silence, the air thick with tension. I could feel the eyes of Blair burning through me, as if finding herself wanting to comment but she forced her lips shut.

I wanted to get out of the room right then and there. I humiliated myself enough, I couldn't bare the thought of potentially doing worse, especially now that I had the eyes of Belleview High's head-bitch-in-charge on me.

I couldn't bring myself to look up at her. Blair Westwood tended to have that effect on everyone. She certainly was the queen of her own kingdom, and we were just her loyal servants. I feared and pitied her at the same time. As the queen rose, her castle walls did too.

Delilah shifted her eyes between the two of us every minute. I knew that she was hunting me down for a reason, and that I knew for sure because of the evident glint in her eyes. Her lips were pursed and her arms were folded. The only thing that could be heard was her foot tapping on the bathroom tiles.

After what felt like eternity, a sigh slipped out of Blair's lips and minimized the thick tension. "Unless one of you start talking, all of us will leave this room without an explanation."

I saw her right-hand woman look at me for something to say. My eyes grew wide and I shrugged my shoulders. She didn't expect me to have a script written, did she? I was trying to decipher the entire situation as well.

Blair took note of our minor communication and rolled her eyes. "Please, bore me with your silence. I don't have all day."

"After our conversation earlier, I had to get you to talk, Blair. I'm sorry if you're mad, but I had to. I was worried about you. If you only heard yourself, you'd understand," Delilah spoke, genuine concern in her tone, "Please Blair, I'm sorry. I will never do it again without your permission."

"No, I understand that your intentions behind your little scheme were pure," she begun with a condescending tone, her authoritative side beginning to show, "But you didn't have to, Delilah. You wanted to for your own selfish gain. You ignored my words, and now I must warn you. I find it hard to believe that you went behind my back even when you know better than to do so."

I could sense the fear Delilah felt as she spoke. It didn't matter whether she was Blair's best friend or not, no one got away with betraying the Queen B. There wasn't a single emotion found in her eyes as she chided. It was the first time I was fully witnessing her in action rather than hearing about it in the hallway.

"Blair.." Delilah pleaded in a whisper, but she was immediately cut off.

"Save it," she chastised calmly, dismissing her. The head cheerleader then turned to face me with a blank expression. "I apologize on her behalf. You were never supposed to be involved in our affairs. However, if you speak about this to anyone, you are welcome to join her sanction," I was shocked. I felt shivers run down my spine at her words. Up until then, I only listened to what others told me of what it was like to come across her. I had to applaud her for that though, she did a wonderful job making sure that no one dared to betray her, "Do I make myself clear?"

"Crystal." my voice was shaky and hardly audible. She nodded, pleased to hear that our agreement was sealed. She made her way towards the exit, glancing at me one last time before leaving.

Delilah Santiago still hadn't moved from her position. She was frozen as ice on that same spot. I pitied her. I tried to shake her out of her state but she only groaned at my attempt. The look in her eyes went from dread to pure hatred. "This is your fault." she accused.

"Excuse me?" my mouth gaped, stunned.

She only shook her head, leaving the room but not without sending me one last glare. I made a scoffing noise, finding the whole thing unbelievable. She had the nerve to pin Blair's anger on me, despite the fact that I didn't have a single idea as to why she was chasing after me in the first place.

What was going on? What did Blair mean when she said that it was never planned for me to get involved in their affairs? What kind of affairs was she talking about? It didn't matter. I didn't want to know either. As long as I stayed out of Blair's path, I would survive senior year without my life falling apart. I had to stay away.
