"Good work everyone!" The boss shouted.
Mark quickly changed his work clothes into ordinary clothes before leaving the store. He walked down the almost empty streets while eating a half-eaten steamed bun, his dinner apparently.
A 15 year old working is normal here, specially if you are broke like Mark. Working as a cashier definitely payed him well as the store he's working at is the only store within the 10 streets in the vicinity.
'For a person who doesn't remember a thing, I guess I'm pretty lucky the boss found me and hired me.'
Although the pay is only 145 coppers per day, it does the job and he can still save more. A steamed bun is usually priced at 40 coppers if you arrive at a good time.
It has been a year since Mark arrived at City B6. At first he is like a child who does not know what to do. Thankfully he got his memory of basic and common knowledge after 2 days. That is when he knew he needed to get money. Thankfully at that time, the boss just moved in the city because City C7 was destroyed, and he saw him sitting on a bench near the city gate.
The boss was generous and rich, he's a merchant. He hired a couple of beggars down the street, including Mark, and built a shop and ordered them to tend to the shop.
Mark has small muscles and a little hunched so the boss figured he won't be suitable for carrying stuff, so he tasked Mark to be the cashier. Turns out that Mark knew basic math and was good being the cashier which is even better.
"Beggars usually do anything just to get money." The boss said when Mark asked why he hired them. Who in their right mind would hire beggars to be personnel staff of a store. But it turned out great so nevermind.
-!-!-!-
Mark arrived at his apartment. It was 9:30 in the evening and although no clouds could be seen floating, you can hardly see any stars.
Mark could see all these because there is a large window/door leading to a balcony. Not just his apartment, all the apartments in the 50-story building has this same view.
Even with a meager 145 copper salary, he is still able to afford this quite expensive 100 square meter apartment for a silver and 500 coppers.
He took the last bite of the steamed bun and drank some water to relieve his thirst. He then picked up a book entitled "The Apocalypse".
He turned off the lights on the living room with a clap and turned on the lamp shade.
He took off his socks and changed his casual clothes with a pajama and a sweater.
He then lay on his bed and started reading.
"The Apocalpyse, the history of the entire world since it happened."
