Finally, when arriving to the city Berto he had to hunt all the monsters that he saw, although there were some of them that went in large groups which means that they are families or herds.
Most of the monsters present were identical to a mammoth but in great difference they had 6 huge horns coming out of their heads and their hair looked thick and very durable and a thick and long trunk.
When looking around the city many memories came to Berto's mind, the restaurants he saw from the streets, the old buildings, the beautiful streets.
"..." (Berto)
Berto remained silent observing and remembering how little he still had in his mind of that place, although now it was only the ruins of a city devoured by time and nature.
Silence dominated the streets and only a few sounds emitted by the monsters could be heard, until Berto could sense a tremor.
A small one, but strong enough for a human to feel it, the street began to break and a huge creature emerged from down the main street.
The strange creature seemed to be a giant worm covered in a thick layer of bone of a yellowish color, his mouth had a lot of sharp teeth but it was clear that this creature was blind, until Berto could see how it moved very quickly pointing his body to where there was a group of those monsters like mammoths.
Apparently the worm followed the vibrations and in this case the weight of the footsteps of the monsters was enough to call attention and know the position of their prey.
Berto was hidden behind the remains of a vehicle that was near the street and watched as this monster watched and stalked patiently to others who were at a distance.
"....Too big, and the rifle will only cause minimal damage, I need something bigger if I want to kill it." (Berto)
The creature was too large and perhaps also very protected by that outer layer that had in his body, so the only strategy would be to kill it in a single attack.
"Now...I need something big and heavy to kill him..." (Berto)
Look wherever he looked Berto was unable to find anything capable of killing the giant worm, the only things big enough to ensure killing the worm were the tall buildings that still miraculously remained standing despite being covered in troubles and roots of plants.
Berto shook his head refusing to climb the structure covered with roots to use it to kill the huge worm.
"There must be another damn way to kill that huge thing." (Berto)
No matter how much Berto sought, it was impossible to find another method that would assure the murder of that creature.
"I'd better start moving, that thing does not look like it's going to move from its place for a long time." (Berto)
Strangely the worm remained motionless with its head pointed in the direction of the group of monsters that were now two streets away, what Berto did not know is that this creature had eyes and were on the sides of his body but these were so small that Berto did not manage to notice them but the worm had noticed Berto and all that time immobilized the worm was staring at Berto.
Berto crouched and walked very slowly to prevent his footsteps from emitting enough vibration for the worm not to know that he was near.
When Berto turned the corner following the street to the building, while the worm went slowly under the street disappearing obviously to follow Berto.
The main door of the building was completely covered with roots that extended to the top of the building.
"... what the hell did they give them to grow like this?" (Berto)
The roots were too thick but one way or another these were not a problem for Berto's ax.
"I wanted to avoid making as little noise as possible but now it seems I want to get the attention of all the monsters in the city." (Berto)
Berto continued cutting the root with the ax until finally managed to cut it and break it.
"Shit, these things are really hard" (Berto)
Berto sighed and at that moment I heard a strange sound that came from behind him, rather from the same floor behind him.
When he turned around he could see how the street broke and the worm emerged slowly with his head in the direction of Berto. Clearly focused on him.
