Chapter 1 - Company

<7 years ago>

The quiet classroom was filled with students, listening attentively to Mr. Kim. He had been known for his interesting teaching methods, but his lack of attitude was a pain in the ass. Nevertheless, the students preferred his teaching.

Ding dong ding dong~

The bell rang. Mr. Kim shut his book and reminded the class to study for the quiz next week before letting the students rush out for lunch break. He sighs, releasing all his tiredness in one breath. Remembering he had something to settle after this, his eyes searched across the room to look for a particular person.

"Zhou Qinyang! See me in the office after this!" his booming voice shocked the girl for a moment who was chatting with her friend at her seat.

The girl's ocean blue eyes glared at the annoying man, 'What does this stupid teacher want from me? Always disturbing me during lunch break,' she cursed in her heart.

"Lili, you go on ahead first. I'll come later after meeting the teacher," Qinyang informed her best friend.

Zhang Lili, the quiet girl, nodded and walked out of the classroom. Qinyang dragged her feet to Mr. Kim's office while thinking about how he was going to waste her time today. The last time he had summoned her, he made her staple all of the notes for every class he taught. She had to skip lunch because of it.

Qinyang knocked twice at the office door and waited for a reply.

"Come in," a tired, raspy voice sounded from within.

She walked into the office and sat in front of him. She felt him staring into her soul as if she had done something guilty. His gaze made her nervous so she decided to start the conversation first.

"Mr. Kim, why did you call me into your today for?"

Mr. Kim opened his drawer, took out a file and threw it on the table. He pinched his eyebrows.

"Lee Junting," he said, "He's constantly skipping class. If this keeps up, he won't be able to graduate."

'So? What does this have to do with me?' Qinyang looking at the file in confusion, she asked, "Your point is, sir?"

He took a deep sigh and said, "You're the class president! Shouldn't you be caring for your classmates? Tsk. You can't even do such a simple job! "

Qinyang's heart hardened, hearing those words, she glared at the teacher in front of her, 'Asshole! You're passing off your job to me again?! I had to do all your shit because you are lazy!'

"Students have seen you talking to him before. In fact, you're the only one they've seen talking to him. Persuade him to come to class tomorrow, and tell him that if he doesn't comply, he'll be expelled." leaving no room for argument, he waved his hand, shooing her out of his office.

Zhou Qinyang left the office with rage in her heart. All she could feel was fire within her as she stomped across the corridor while cursing softly, "I'll freaking murder you, Lee Junting."

___________

On the school rooftop, The light breeze cooled the air while the sun warmed the skin, as chirps filled the quiet atmosphere. It was the perfect place to skip class and take a nap. In the corner, a man with soft, black hair and handsome features was leaning against the wall, enjoying the nature around him until a loud slam disturbed his peace.

"LEE JUNTING! I will bloody kick your ass! I got in trouble because of you!" A voice roared like a wild cat's in the area as the chirping of the birds stopped.

Junting slowly revealed his hazel eyes as he looked at the girl glaring at him, his heart skipped a beat, hearing her voice for the first time today. Gazing at the wild cat's hair riding the breeze like a river stream, his half-awake eyes couldn't hide her beautiful features. He then sat up facing the wild cat as he took two buns by his side and offered it to her.

She furrowed her eyebrows, the fire was extinguished in an instant. She snatched the food from him.

"Hmph. At least you have a conscience," Qingyang said as she plopped down beside him.

Immediately, the wild cat settled down and started filling her hungry stomach.

"Mr. Kim said you will be expelled if you don't start attending class," Qinyang said softly while munching the pastry.

Junting stared at her as if he was watching a squirrel devouring the bread.

Qinyang noticed his gaze and raised her eyebrow as she stared back at him. She tried to tease him to get a reaction out of him. "Do you like what you are seeing? I am not sharing the bread if you want some."

"Cheeks," he looked away, not interested in her trap.

Qinyang instinctively touched her cheeks for crumbs, but there were none. She then ignored his comment and continued the topic from earlier, "You're lucky that you don't have to study and yet be number one in school. Unlike you, I have to study and I also need to eat!"

"I will go tomorrow," he lied down once more and closed his eyes.

"You better! If not, that stupid man is gonna tell me how to do my job again," she grumbled with the thoughts of getting scolded from the old man earlier. Taking her by surprise, a warm hand lightly pat her head.

"Sorry, I caused you trouble," Junting's gentle voice sounded, her heart warmed up.

Qinyang blushed and pouted, "If you really are, then stop skipping class."

Silence filled the air and awkwardness was nowhere in sight. There was only a heartwarming feeling.

The people around them never knew how much these two appreciated each other's presence.

As if the world heard their wishes, the world stopped while the two enjoyed their moment.
