Tick, tock. Tick, tock.
Not that there is a clock here but it is fun to imagine. It gives me something to do. And so the clock in my head tics on.
One hour, then two. Time keeps going.
It passes so slowly when there is nothing to do; an hour feels like a day, a minute feels like an hour, and a second feels like a minute.
Wait. Here a second is a year. What would that make a minute? A month? A year?
Lost in her calculations, Water did not notice when the human in front of her stirred.
Finished with the activity, she frowned (mentally, that is). She had lost track of what 'tick, tock' she was on.
Unable to remember, she turned her attention to her only companion. He should have woken up by now. However, there he was, sleeping like a log.
An idea came into her mind. He must have been soul searched! But...why?
What could Death want from this human? Her curiosity growing stronger, she hoped that he would wake up soon. Sadly, that was impossible. Human souls could not withstand the energy lost during a soul search and would fall into a dormant state. They would only wake up when they had recovered all their energy. This process would take tens if not thousands of years.
Even gods with their enhanced souls would have to rest for a week or so. Not that a god would ever be soul searched; such a thing was unheard of.
Anyway, all she could do now was bury her curiosity and wait. Though she had lost track of her 'tick, tocks,' she knew that less than a day had passed. He was not getting up any time soon.
It would be nice if Games or Air were here. She missed those days where the three of them would play a game at Star's Pavilion while enjoying tea and Air's gossip.
She closed her eyes as she reminisced about the old days, her mood improving significantly.
When she opened them, she nearly had a heart attack. She was stunned to find that the human soul was standing right before her, staring at her in a confused manner with his bright purple eyes.
Since when did humans have purple eyes, she thought. Oh, he seems to have awakened much earlier than anticipated, was her next thought.
But those purple eyes...they're so pretty!
Will he let me have them as a collectible if I ask nicely?
As I continued staring at his eyes, he started talking, diverting my attention elsewhere.
Lip reading was a skill I had picked up during my time on Earth, before I became a god. It came in quite handy when spying on your enemies. It was quite handy now as well.
"Hi, I'm Teo. May I know who you are?"
Wow, what a polite human. Though it was kind of stupid of him to reveal his true name like that.
I would like to reply back but since I could not, I just quietly stared at him, waiting for him to continue.
An awkward silence descended upon us.
"Can you not speak?" he asked, cautiously.
I did not move. After all, silence meant 'yes'.
"You can still blink, right?"
Such a silly huma- no creature. He can't be human or he would not have woken up so quickly. Anyway, he is silly for asking such a question. I have blinked at least 10 times since this conversation started. But I decided to humor him and blinked.
"Then...how about this: I will ask you questions and if you want to say 'yes' blink once and if you want to say 'no' blink twice."
I blinked once in confirmation. This was a great opportunity to find out more about him.
