"Esther Kim. She is .... the freshman princess. The girl next inline to inherit queen Choo Bae's throne."
"So she's just another cute girl? Why all the hyperbole?"
"No ! She is Esther Kim. You know how every guy in school has pretty much given up any hopes with Choo Bae. Well unlike her who is cold to the bone. Esther is warm, approachable. She is man's only hope to attain immortality!!"
'Is he a sasaeng (obsessed fan?)'
The look in his eyes is seriously scaring me right now.
He proceeds to lean into my shoulder, grabbing my arm. Much like a jealous girlfriend he says teasingly, "OOOH! Isn't my dylan popular"
How I wish I can hit his smug face right now.
It is just so punch-able.
Since this is the first time I've ever received a confession letter, I'm at a loss at what to do. "What do I do now then?" I question.
It pains me to admit this but Jaebum definitely has more experience in these type of things.
"Obviously you go out and see her later"
"But what do I tell...."
As I am contemplating what to say to her, my desk-mate makes her entrance.
The door swings open, the air in the classroom grows cold and it has become deadly silent even after she offers her greetings.
Seeing Jaebum and I so close together early in the morning, I can see the annoyed expression brewing on her face.
The two of us together are like a chemical reaction, when we are in the same place its never quiet.
She's said on more than one occasion that we should try out as a comedic duo.
Hora makes her way to her seat next to me, setting her belongings down before taking out a book she's been reading.
Before she can completely disregard us and enter into a trance.
I take the letter and hand it to her.
I made a promise not to hide anything.
And I'm definitely not about to be one of those MC's who try and protect the other girl while causing misunderstandings with the Female lead.
I'm sorry random female side character but I got priorities/
While Hora is perusing the contents of the letter.
Jaebum nudges me as if to ask why I did that. He is clearly expecting it to end badly. Too bad he doesn't know Hora's character. She wouldn't kill me if I told her rather, she would kill me if I didn't
Not saying anything she returns the letter to me and waits for me to tell her what I will be doing.
"Wait for me after school okay, I'm just going to take 5 minutes" I say.
She just nods her head and puts the issue to the back of her mind continuing to read her book.
I turn to Jaebum and give him a knowing look.
The idiot is still confused that the TV drama scene didn't happen.
The rest of the day just passes and when the final day bell rings. I remind Hora to wait for me again before heading to the rooftop.
Jaebum wants to tag along but I shoo him off like a stray cat.
Making my way to the rooftop, I grow a little nervous.
I push open the metal door and look out into the concrete laden space, seeing a short girl with long wavy hair standing in the center looking down at her feet, fiddling with her hands.
Walking over to her, I try and compose myself, "Hi there. are you ... Esther?'
She finally looks up and I see her face fully. Her eyes are crescent shaped with thick eyebrows and clear bright porcelain skin.
She has a little baby fat still on her cheeks which just adds to her cuteness. If I were to compare looks to anyone it would be a younger Naeun.
She shyly answers me, "Yes, nice to meet ... you"
I really don't know what to do next. So the awkward silence just fills the time.
"Uhm... thank you for the letter" I say, which causes her to blush. "You ... have a really nice handwriting"
She lowers her head again, her complexion turning a soft shade of pink.
She is clearly embarrassed by this situation as much as I am.
I continue, "But... uhm while I appreciate your feelings. I'm not really interested"
She sighs and I can she tears growing while she softly says, "Okay."
I hurriedly try to stop her crying. Honestly I really don't know how to deal with her so I step back a little , "But we can ... still be friends ... if you'd like?"
Almost instantly her face brightens up once more and she agrees.
While it may seem like I gave her hope, I have a plan.
I'm going to be pushing her advances to Jaebum.
Let my trusted side kick fall for the girl who is interested in the Male lead.
It's a typical trope of K-Drama. So it's got to work right? Probably.
After saying our goodbyes, I head down stairs as fast as I can.
Making my way to the classroom, I find Hora sitting in her seat calmly reading.
Noticing my entry, she looks up to me "Are you done?"
I nod, so she packs her bag and makes her way over to me.
As we are leaving, she hands me a pile of envelopes and before I can question what they are.
She proudly says, "These are just from today".
I freeze in my place and realize that .... they are all love letters.
I look towards her as she smugly continue, "Must I make you wait while I respond to all of them or are we going?"
"We are going, we are going".
Goofily a smile grows across my face, as I rush after her . Thinking that her entire attitude was just way too cute right now.
I'm genuinely surprised, even the Ice goddess can get jealous.
"Wait for me!!"
