Chapter 31 - Thirst Quenched

Seraphina woke up to find herself in someone's embrace.

First reaction: This wouldn't be one of those romantic Chinese novels where I slept with a handsome CEO after being drugged, right?

Second reaction: Never! My bestfriends would never do that, and I'm more suited to be a warrior in a historical setting.

Third reaction: Survey your surrounding Sera.

After convincing herself to calm down and be rational, she opened her eyes and saw her familiar alarm clock and lamp.

"Okay, that's good. I'm in my own home," she said as she pat her chest lightly.

She closed her eyes again, summoned her courage, moved out of the embrace, turned around, and kicked the stranger out of the bed.

"Bang!" She dusted her hands feeling extremely satisfied as the sound signified a successful attack.

"Ouch! What was that for?"

That voice... She was all too familiar with it.

'Lub-dub... lub-dub... lub-dub'

She felt like her heart was going to beat out of her chest at any moment.

She opened her eyes and met with those silver eyes, sad silver eyes. She was stunned, and her eyes were wide with shock.

After a momentary freeze, she pounced on Quincy who was looking very aggrieved.

"That hurts babe. You could have pulled me off the floor first," proceeding to wrap his arms around her, taking in her familiar scent.

'Thirst quenched,' he let out a heavy sigh.

Seraphina hadn't heard a single word Quincy said. She just held onto him like her whole life depended on it. To some extent, it kinda did.

To make sure he was real, she raised her head and poked his cheek.

'Poke 1... poke 5... endless poking...'

"Summer, my cheek is numb from all your poking," he said as he rubbed his big palm on her head.

"You're back... you're really back," she finally managed to squeeze out of her little mouth, raining kisses all over Quincy's face.

He enjoyed his little darling's early morning love demonstration. He missed her like crazy also. They had only videocalled twice since he left while her pictures had accompanied him the rest of the time.

If pictures could talk, he'd probably get cussed out for the number of times he stared at the particular picture.

Her shining eyes with whipped cream on the tip of her nose topped with the brightest smile in the world; all I had wanted to do was pull her out of the picture the way Barbie did with her furnitures in Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse.

Queen made sure I knew all the characters by heart... hello... best big brother award.

"I missed you too my little darling." I caught her head and placed a light kiss on her lips.

We both got off the floor, then she sprinted to the bathroom to clean up.

"You had 2 more days to go. When did you get back?"

"4 in the morning. Then I stayed up til 5 to look at your face before cleaning up and sleeping in bed."

"Why didn't you wake me up?"

"You looked so peaceful. I couldn't bring myself to interrupt that."

"How did you do it?"

"I left on the 4th day. It was a banquet, so I skipped it. My employees will attend in my stead. I missed you too much."

"I missed you too."

I attached myself firmly to his back and followed him around the kitchen as he made breakfast: PB&J sandwiches.

"You smell nice," I said sniffing him noisily like I was in heat.

"Of course I do. I smell of you," he laughed, still working on the sandwiches.

'There they were... those cheesy remarks of his,' I said in my head.

"Cheesy," I teased.

"Anything to make my darling happy."

Those sweet words he said further confirmed that my man was back beside me.

Thankfully, I didn't have classes. We spent the whole day stuck to each other, whispering words of sweet-nothings.
