Chapter 20 - Conspiracy II

Davis Family House

"Quincy, grandma has a surprise for you," Alice Davis squealed excitedly.

"And what would that be grandma?"

"TA-DA!! Keys to your very own apartment. I had it decorated with your favorite color, and all you have to do is move in."

"Are you chasing me out? I've only been here for 2 years. You're breaking my little fragile heart grandma," Quincy said in an aggrieved tone as he wiped away the nonexistent tears.

"What do you mean chase you away? You're grandma's favorite boy. I just want you to have your own space and not be influenced by that silly old man. Plus, it's a quiet space to entertain my granddaughter-in-law."

Looking at how sheepishly his grandma looked at the moment, he couldn't hold back his chuckle.

"Thanks grandma. You know me the best."

"Of course." Alice dropped the keys and address with Quincy and made her way to the backyard.

*Ring... Ring... Ring*

>Female voice: How was it?

>Alice: Keys delivered. He should be out by the end of the week.

>Female voice: Then, we'll wait for him to settle in before moving on to phase 2.

>Alice: Roger that partner.

Quincy moved into his new apartment by the end of the week, and he loved it. It was close to his company, his best friend's bar, and the grocery store was a walk away.

"Grandma really loves me the most," he said to himself.

He moved away with his parents to another state when he was 7 years old. When he finished his Bachelors/Masters program in Computer Science, he moved back alone to the family house at 23. He started on his company and spent sleepless nights trying to stabilize it. 2 years later, at 25, he is one of the leading CEOs in the IT business. It was definitely time for him to get his own space.

2 months later (Phase 2)

Jacob Family House

"Happy 18th birthday baby. Guess what granny got you, hmmn..." Janet couldn't help but tease her cute granddaughter.

"A credit card with no limits? Please say yes granny"

"What a greedy little goblin you are. No baby, no limitless credit card for you."

Seraphina's look turned sad, but her eyes were still brimming with expectation. "Spill it gran, what am I getting on my precious 18th?"

"Your very own apartment *clap clap clap clap*."

The birthday girl's mouth hung so loose, her whole apartment could probably fit into it.

"It's closer to school, closer to the 2 brats, and you don't have to hear your parents' endless nagging. Who's the best gran in the world? Say it, say it," Janet said as she sought to be praised by her granddaughter.

"You are... You're the best gran gran in the whole wide world," Seraphina screamed as she took her gran gran on a spin.

"Don't worry about your meals. Granny's got you."

This was definitely the happiest day of Seraphina's life. No more nagging, no more long travels, and she gets to walk around naked without a care in the world.

2 weeks later, she moved in at the beginning of summer. As she moved the last box into the elevator, she pressed her apartment floor.

"Hold it back," she heard a voice say.

Unfortunately, the doors closed before she could react.

"Oops... I guess he'll have to take the next one."

Quincy saw the doors close, and he knew he was a step too late. He went on to the next elevator, and thankfully it came down fast.

Once he got in, a few people rushed in as well.

By the time he reached the 35th floor, the door to 3512 was just slammed shut, and he walked past to his apartment door, 3513.

For 3 years, it wasn't that Quincy and Seraphina never met, they just missed out one each other without knowing it.

3 years after, the impatient older generations couldn't sit by anymore. They took matters into their own hands.
