At last the party was over. Saying thank you to everyone with plastic smile was tiring, but, it was over. The guests except, my girlfriends were all gone. I was tired. My brain was shouting "REST, REST and a lot of rest I planned to give my body.
It had been a long and interesting day. I was about to climb the stairs when Tansho suggested we go clubbing since it was Friday night and my birthday. I protested. I was tired but Sinto, who was usually the one to reject such idea insisted we went. "It's not 8pm besides, we are yet to celebrate your car."
"Yeah!" Chorused Tansho and Orobo.
"Okay, let's ask dad" I submitted thinking my dad would rescue me by rejecting the idea.
"Don't worry, Daddy already knows." Mummy answered from atop the stairs.
"But I....."
"You have never gone without daddy." Daddy interrupted. "You are old enough. Feel free, Darling."
"Thanks Dad, you are the best."
"I know, right now you have to change your clothes. You know Dad can't stand a dirty baby."
"Okaaaaaaaay." It took forever to get me out of my room but at the end they won and we were at the club.
At the club, my friends called other friends. Before I could say anything, it was another surprise birthday celebration. At first, I vowed not to drink nor do anything crazy. I was alone and have to be responsible so I sat by myself watching others dance. I remembered those times when my dad would pose as my boyfriend and escort me to the club. I was allowed to drink, dance but no man should come close. it felt really strange to be partying in the club alone without my Dad's protection and at the same time it felt so good.
I sipped some wine, it even tasted better as far as I can remember. Just then he showed his face again. He sat beside me without asking if he should.
"Daddy's girl is out alone. who will protect her?" He teased, smiling as always.
I had almost forgotten our earlier conversation but now, he had brought it all back. I was livid.
"Why are you bothering me? I don't like you and don't want your friendship. Why don't you leave me alone." I lashed out angrily.
"You will definitely regret this." He got up, hooked the closest girl and danced away. I had forgotten to ask about him from Tansho. "I will do that right now." I fumed and went to find her. I saw her with two men laughing so hard at a lady that had had too much of free drinks and was misbehaving. I practically dragged her to a corner.
"who is R. R.?" I questioned
"Ohh! Him? He's my cousin." she said.
"Your cousin? But he said you are his niece." I was surprised. Just that morning the man had claimed to be her uncle.
"Yeah, I don't know how to interpret this long relationships, but, I am very sure we are somehow related. Why are you asking?" she quickly asked. I didn't know what to say. Something was out of place. Tansho had never been one to be trusted so much, so my surprise quickly died but a dreadfulness lingered.
"Why did you invite him to my party?"
"I am sorry. I know you are not very receptive towards strangers especially men but he is new in town and was bored at home so I invited him. she lied effortlessly. It was a gift she had. She would prove white to be black with no doubt left in you. I knew she was lying to me but I let it go as I was too tired to argue. I went back to my seat and thought; if he was really new in town, why would he threaten me? How did he know my daddy had always shielded me? Something was wrong. I could feel it but, why would my friend want to hurt me? Though she is a liar, but she wouldn't hurt anyone, definitely not me. We have been together longer than Sinto and Orobo. "I will find out from her somehow tomorrow" I concluded and continued sipping my wine. I promised I wouldn't have another glass, ordered for water. My car shouldn't suffer any misfortune on it's birthday. it was our birthday. I smiled at my thought. it was funny
