"A reward? Hell yes! Bojack, were we done here or was there something more you wanted to show me?" Logan exclaimed this, wanting to get on with his mission as soon as possible.
"Of course there is Logan! Patience is key when tanning leather, make sure you remember that. Okay, now if you've been paying attention you should know that after you've rubbed the leather down in salt, you'll want to let is soak in warm water. After that you should be good to go!" Bojack suddenly walked into the house, coming out minutes later with a rough and scruffy looking leather tunic. "This is for ye, best you stay protected out in these parts. Heard rumors of bandits and thieves out in the surrounding area, try not to get yourself killed, eh?"
Logan was startled, touched by the old man- no- Bojack's kindness. He went to thank him, for taking caring of him when he was unconscious and again for the advice and free leather tunic. Just as Logan was going to open his mouth, Bojack turned around and left, walking past his house and into the rest of the city, never to be seen again. Logan, having slightly more respect for the elderly than in his previous life, ingrained this moment into his heart.
Lost, Logan began to wander the streets of Ingwald. He noticed that this place was very lacking in terms of technological advancement; blacksmiths and forgers were the majority of popular professions. Thinking back to the task he had received from the System, Logan set out to find some girls to talk to!
Logan walked into a library he had found, to learn about where he was. After browsing several dozen dusty books and spending nearly five hours flipping through pages, he finally had an idea of what this world looked like. The world, or Agapi as they called it, consisted of seven countries, three of which were islands. The islands were named; Abban, Cairbre, and Beararch. Those islands sat around a near infinitely large landmass, which was split up into four countries. These were named thus; Atrus, Eliseo, Raleigh, and Locklyn.
The islands were controlled by pirates and vagabonds, not under imperial rule as the main continent, termed "Pangea", was. Between the four mainland continents were 2 kingdoms; the Godmaer Kingdom and the Dietrumius Kingdom.
As Logan was sifting through books, he noticed a girl sitting in a corner and reading. He tried to swaggily approach her, puffing out his chest and shoving his hands into the pockets of his ragged and torn cloth like pants. Walking over, Logan attempted to start a conversation, and as he was starting to mumble some words out, the girl suddenly stood up, startling Logan.
"Hello? How can I help you? I really hope you won't trouble me long, I have many a book to read before I leave tonight." A petite girl whispered, glancing around to make sure no one was disturbed by the noise.
Logan, slightly confused with her behaviour, continued to say what he tried to earlier. "U-uh hi! My name's Logan and I'm new around these parts, and I was wondering if you could perhaps show me around here? Of course you don't have too if you're too busy!!"
She blushed, seemingly embarrassed about this. "Of course! How could I be THAT busy? By the way, my name is Liz. I work here as a page of sorts." Liz hurriedly marked the page she was on before taking Logan's arm and leading him to the front counter. "This is where you check in/out any book you have." Continuing forth Liz showed Logan the upper and lower areas of the library, as well as how the sorting system. "Books are sorted alphabetically, if two or more books share the first letter, we then look at the author's name. If they are still the same characters, we go based off of the number of pages in the book. It's a very effective sorting system if I do say so myself. Which I do, as I was the one who set and made it up!"
"Wow! All by yourself too? That's very impressive! You seem pretty capable, care to show me around some more sometime tomorrow?" Logan asked, hoping to build up a good and successful relationship with Liz. If there was anything he learned from his past life, it's that he should take it slow with the ladies, last time he made a move he ended up dying.
Liz smiled, not saying anything before rubbing her nose and running off. When was the last time she was treated with such courtesy?
Logan was stunned, his heart beat picking up dramatically. He smiled to himself and chuckled, who knew that Liz would run away like that? Putting back the books he was reading previously, he looked outside and much to his surprise it was nearly pitch black outside! Between the rush to put his books away and the fluttering feeling he felt whenever he thought of Liz, he failed to hear the System ding.
"Ding! Host as completed a portion of his Task! Congratulations and keep up the good work!"
