Chapter 40 - Aunt Jing

After filling in the data she was asked to get by Li Xioazhi, she stretched her body and went to the kitchen. The normal few minutes of recreating their crime scene map in a sheet of paper took her more than an hour. It was clearly an indication that her concentration was not in a good shape. Her mind has been drifting in and out of what she was doing.

'He will come back.' She assured herself once more. He's not the same as her mom. He would do what he said he would, right?

She was about to prepare her own breakfast when her phone rang. She casually picked it up and slowly continued busying herself in the kitchen area.

"Sister-in-law! Good morning! I hope I didn't wake you up!" A loud greeting from the First young Master of Liu family echoed out.

'Who wouldn't wake up with that kind of greeting?' Han Meixiu said to herself deeply and smiled a little. Her gloominess that has been looming around her slowly dissipated.

"I'm already awake." She simply answered and put the phone in speaker mode to free her both hands as she carefully placed it on the table. "Why are you calling? Is there something you need?"

'Can I say your dear husband asked me to check on you?' Liu Zilong wanted to say but wouldn't it sound a bit controlling? He thought for a while before he answered.

"Little Zi asked me to find someone to be your house helper, she would be arriving soon."

"That would be great!" She was delighted by the fact that there would be someone to accompany her and could help her with so many house related works. Maybe she could really learn a lot from that person.

"If you're bored, you can come to Emerald, I just got back today. We can also have lunch together; I can tell you more about Little Zi. Aren't you curious how was he when he was younger?" He smiled as he continued to convince his sister-in-law. He could then excuse himself from those boring tasks. If Little Zi questioned him, he would simply say Han Meixiu wanted to know more about him.

'Aren't I a sweet brother for being considerate? Who in this earth would spare a time to build up his brother's image to his wife? Only me ah!'

He's getting more and more excited by the thought of getting out of this 'situation' with a reasonable cause.

'Liu Zijian when he was younger? Was there a big difference from what he is now?' Han Meixiu was also curious thus she was bound to bite the offer of Liu Zilong.

"Okay."

After the call ended, Liu Zilong encouraged himself to finish a few more documents. He planned to absolutely spend the entire afternoon outside.

Thinking about his upcoming escape, he felt really excited. He dialed his brother's number to report his plan.

"I already arranged a house helper, she might be arriving soon there. Also, I invited sister-in-law for lunch. It's time for us to bond." He said in a single breath, afraid that Liu Zijian might cut off the line any moment without giving him time to finish.

"Mmm." He responded but didn't end the line after a few more seconds as if he's waiting for him to continue.

"That's all Little Zi." Liu Zilong confusedly said. It was weird that his brother actually waited for him to talk more. Wasn't it because he didn't use his usual greetings to annoy him or was it because what he said was about his sister in law? If it was the latter, a bias treatment definitely existed. Did his rank in Little Zi's heart went down to the bottom now that he's married? He softly smiled with his humorous mockery.

'He really had grown up already.' His world no longer bound to his immediate family members. His smile became more evident as the realization hit him.

It was indeed a good thing that he thought about the plan of taking out his sister-in-law. His brother didn't even tell him to finish his assigned work!

As Han Meixiu was about to finish her breakfast, she heard the bell rang.

'That must be the helper.' She said to herself. She got up to open the door. When she passed in the living room, she saw that she still didn't tidy the papers she used earlier so she immediately picked them up and stuffed inside the nearest end table with a drawer. She would just move them later to another location.

She looked at the peeped hole first to confirm if the one who arrived was indeed the housekeeper assigned by Liu Zilong.

She saw a middle-aged woman and a man who normally accompanied the First Young Master. She saw this man several times so her deduction was correct.

She opened the door and the man simply bowed and bid his goodbye.

The middle aged woman smiled at her and said, "I am your new house helper. You can call me Aunt Jing, Miss Han." Her demeanor excluded kindness and her eyes were gentle making anyone at ease. She was a little round which was common to her age group and her hair simply tied in a bun.

Han Meixiu smiled back in response and let the woman came inside.

She invited her to eat breakfast but the woman said she already ate. She also found out that she was a distant relative of maidservant working for the Liu Family in Q City. It turned out the older Liu couple was already looking for someone who would become Liu Zijian and HanMeixiu's helper thus they asked around who has a relative in K Country.

It was also in time when her husband asked his brother thus Liu Zilong merely relay the information to Madam Liu and the latter just contacted Aunt Jing.

As they were talking in the living room to get to know each other more, Aunt Jing picked up a piece of paper nearby where she was sitting. It was also her job to clean the house. But as she read what was written she was a bit surprised.

"Ms Han, how do you know White Peony Agency?"

Han Meixiu was startled and she looked at the piece of paper Aunt Jing was holding. She must have been missed to pick up earlier because of the rush. She immediately thought of an excuse.

"I was looking for a house helper because I didn't know Mommy Yi already found you." She calmly answered. It was the agency where her mother worked after she 'resigned' in Emerald Imperial Hotel. Of course, she couldn't say she's investigating something so she came up with a possible realistic reason. But she was bound to be surprised.

"But White Peony Agency has been closed for three years, now." Aunt Zing responded. Who would suggest an agency to the Young Miss that wasn't already in operation? Was she deceived like her daughter?
