Chapter 43 - Patience

The man assigned to monitor the Han Family's main house called him early in the morning.

"Third Young Master Chen, the Second Young Master of Liu Family visited old Han."

"Oh, I didn't know they were acquainted." He amusingly said as he stretched out his long legs. He was only wearing a light blue robe that was tied loosely. He just got out from the bathroom and was waiting for his breakfast.

"He didn't stay long." The man added.

"Keep on monitoring." He ordered and cut off the line.

'Liu Zijian? What could be the reason of his visit?' Based from what he knew, Liu Zijian wasn't someone who just randomly dropped by in someone else's house. He also didn't believe that the Second Young Master Liu would seek for a tie up or collaboration with the Han. They have their own resources.

He dialed a set of numbers on his phone and when the line connected he gave his order.

"Investigate what's new with the Liu Family especially Liu Zijian." Once he finished the call he asked for his breakfast to be delivered inside the room.

While in the middle of eating his breakfast composed of mainly fruits and vegetables, a call came in.

It was the man he asked earlier to investigate Liu Zijian.

"Found anything?"

"Yes. They just acquired a new chain of hotels in K Country and Liu Zijain is the current one who manages it."

"What else?"

"He also got married."

Chen Dewei smirked. "Are you sure it's Liu Zijian not Liu Zilong?" The Second Young Master Liu wasn't simply fond of women. How could he get married ahead of his older brother?

"Yes, Third Young Master Chen. The one who got married was Liu Zijian. And…"

"And?"

"He was married to Han Meixiu."

Upon hearing the last sentence, his grip on the phones tightened and his knuckles turned white from clenching his fist too hard. He didn't answer for a time as he was calming himself. There was an indescribable fury inside him.

"Master?"

"Find out how they met and all the details concerning the two." He said as he gritted his teeth in an effort to remain calm.

After the call ended a loud bang echoed followed by the sound of the breaking of glasses could be heard from the second floor. All the helpers stopped for a time and started to shake.

Their master was furious!

He knew from the start that the legality of his marriage was questionable so he planned to find her first and help her secure her rightful place in Han Family. It would be easy for him to even hand her the entire clan in a silver platter if ever she wished to.

With a heavy breathing and a bruised fist, Chen Dewei who was now standing in the middle of an upside down table with scattered food and broken pieces of porcelain tableware, slowly recalled his past.

The first time he saw her was during an occasion hosted by the old couple Zhang. She was almost attached to her grandmother. She was so pure. It was a direct contrast to him. She was someone who wasn't tainted with any form of sin while he was covered from head to toe. She has her own world that very few people could ever enter. He badly wished he could one day.

Every time there's an event and Zhang Family was mentioned, he would attend. It wasn't always that she's there but if there's even a tiny drop of chance that he might see her, he would come. But he never entered her eyes, not even once. He tried to approach her once but her gaze just passed through him as if he didn't exist.

As time flew by, he just continued to watch her from a distance. She continued to be an ethereal being in his eyes.

He asked his father to ask the Zhangs for an arrange married between them as he promised he would eliminate competition for the next head of the Chen Family. He would surpass them all. He successfully did.

But the old Zhang couple didn't grant his father's request – his request.

They said it's up to her whom she wanted to marry. They dared to reject him. There's no good ending for those who did.

He wasn't even given a chance to prove how worthy he could be as his father accepted the verbal engagement from the Han Family. He couldn't let go.

In the wake of her grandparents, her tears made his heart ache in pain. He wanted to come but someone was beside her. He was only a stranger. He watched in envy as she comforted her friend. He wanted that, too. He wanted her to soothe his pain from within. A kind of pain that hunted him every single day.

She became part of the Han Family. He was given another chance. When she was finally became his fiance, he wanted to take his time. He wanted to slowly interact with her and little by little be part of her world. He planned to slowly imprint his being to her so she couldn't live without him.

Who would have thought in a span of a short period of time she's now legally married and her husband was someone like Liu Zijian!

He shouldn't have waited! He should have kidnapped her during her grandparent's wake. Or he should have dragged her to get married that day when he was first introduced to her. Or he should have exposed her childish plan in that hotel room!

Ha! Ha! Ha!

He shouldn't have been patient. Patience gave him only losses.

He took his phone and dialed a number.

"Now that the truth has been exposed, how will you compensate me, Han Huang?" If the old man was diligent enough to monitor Han Meixiu, the marriage between her and Liu Zijian wouldn't exist.

A shaky voice answered, "I'm left with nothing right now, Third Young Master Chen." He already resigned to his fate. He would die eventually. It's just a matter of whose hand would have the honor to do it.

"You're still a Family Head. You could still give one last order."

"What do you want?"

"I need some fresh goods. The demand is always high but the supply is very limited."

Han Huang knew what exactly those goods were. He didn't want to implicate his entire clan for a mistake he did. "Third Young Master Chen, you can do whatever you want with me but please spare the innocent members."

Liu Zijian, even though he took all the Han Family's assets, he only reported those who committed crimes and spare the innocent. Even though they would be jailed for god knows how long and suffer humiliation, they still have their dignity as human beings.

But Chen Dewei was different. What he wanted was something he couldn't stomach to accept.
