Chapter 7 - 7. Chapter 6

Omen's POV

Ever been in a tight situation? No? Well, I say I'm currently having one as I dodged the attacks from all directions.

It was just a... harmless.... banshee scream. Or so I thought.

The guests just simply attacked anyone who wasn't affected by the scream. It was akin to a zombie apocalypse. They staggered towards the sane ones and attacked them. In response, the sane guests screamed and ran around like headless chickens.

"Gah!"

I was hugged by a woman in a pink feather duster mask and pink frilly dress while another guest, a man in a gaudy yellow suit with a yellow mask tried to hit me with a wine bottle. I stared at the woman who was about to open her mouth to chomp off my shoulder.

"So sorry milady," Then I threw her towards the man unceremoniously. "But I must say both of your fashion sense are the worst. Your outfits simply blind my eyes."

As though offended by my comment, the couple called, or rather, growled, for more reinforcements. Now, I am surrounded by the zombies. As I stared at them apprehensively, I realised that the rim of their eyes was red. A sign of that they were possessed by an object or something. How could a banshee scream cause such a commotion? And where is boss who control these guys?

The good news is that I didn't have to search any longer. But the bad news? He was right in front of me as his chilling laughter reverberated around the ballroom. The zombies ceased their advances, but I kept my guard up.

"Dear me, what a scene. But Dark Shadow was right, this is certainly fun."

A chill settled deep within my bones when I knew who it was. I gripped my sword tightly as I narrowed my eyes at the man at the foot of the winding staircase.

He smiled at me as he patted the one of the heads of the savage crowd affectionately. Although his bangs covered his eyes, I could still see the reflective emeralds in the distance when the light caught his eyes as he crocked his head to the side while holding onto his personalised weapon, a death scythe.

A grim reaper.

It was certainly an intimidating weapon with a skull adorned at the base of the blade and its spine decorating the handle. It was a head taller than him and heavier than him, but he still wielded it with ease as he swung it around.

"I forgot to introduce myself. I am Undertaker, an acquaintance of the Phantomhive Family."

"Well not anymore, Undertaker." Ciel called out as he stepped beside me. Sebastian solemnly stood behind him.

"Ciel! I thought you became one of them!" His face heated up at my comment, but he didn't say anything. I pouted at the lack of reaction.

"That is such a shame. It was lovely doing business with you, Phantomhive. Although it is a regret that it has come to this, but I got to do my part of the business."

Without waiting for our reaction, Undertaker whistled. In an instance, all the possessed guests turned and faced us. They stood there silently in an eerie way as they awaited his command. We readied our weapons.

"Let's play a game." Undertaker suddenly said.

"What?" I answered, a little dumbfounded by the sudden change of tension. "Are you going to kill us or play with us?"

"We gamble our lives in this game so I'm killing two birds with one stone." He answered simply while still smiling a little too creepy for my taste. "So? Phantomhive, do you agree to play this game?"

"I can't see why I shouldn't." Ciel smirked.

"Good choice." He smoothed down his clothes while continuing. "Let's play a game of hide and seek. I want you guys to search evidence of how the guests got manipulated within the time limit of an hour."

He fashioned out an ordinary hourglass before placing it on the flat part of the railing of the staircase.

"The catch is.... "He winked at us. "That if you find the evidence, I will tell you all that you need to know. But of course, it's not that easy. I will set the guests after you while you search."

Ciel stood there, contemplating Undertaker's rules. His eyebrows furrowed as he tapped his finger to the top of his cane.

"Ciel," I whispered. "Are you really playing this game? I'm not even very sure of how the guests got possessed."

"But you have a theory or an idea, right?" He shot me a look with a sideway smile. I groaned internally before nodding at him. "Sebastian, fend off the attacks of the guests but no killing while Omen and I looked for the clue."

"At your orders, Young Master."

Undertaker chuckled.

"Seems like you guys have reached a conclusion. Well then," he gave a devious smile, "let the games begin!"

The army of guests pounced onto us. Summoning the wind into the palm of my hands, I directed the attack at the guests. They were forcefully pushed back, and two separate paths were cleared.

Nodding at Ciel, we went our separate ways to find the clue to free the guests while leaving Sebastian to subdue them.

As I rounded the corner to shake off the pursuers, a hand reached out and pulled me into a room much to my dismay.
