Chapter 12 - 12. Chapter 10

Omen's POV

The whole month passed by rather quickly as we filled the days with training and... more training. Of course it wasn't that brutal because we did take a few breaks here and there.

We left the last day for Ciel to turn into a demon. And it was a success.

To be honest, the whole process was just us surrounding Ciel who was standing on a chalk drawn magic circle and chanting Latin incantations. That was all it took for him to turn temporarily into a demon.

The perk of him being a demon turned by Guardian magic was he could still consume human food and keep up his act longer. However, he cannot fully access the powers of a real demon like Sebastian. Nevertheless, we conveniently left out that disadvantage because we knew he would have just used Sebastian as a meat shield whenever possible.

I was proud to say that our weaponry training improved until it was close to barely acceptable (by Francis's standards). She set her standards at an almost humanly impossible level which was herself.

I have also gone a step closer knowing my mesias and our chemistry together has increased our mastery of magic and level of comprehension of magic. When that happens, I would be able to create more powerful spells and comprehend newer and harder spells that could reach up to saint level. (There are different levels for spells: beginner, intermediate, advanced, expert, saint and emperor. Previously, I could do intermediate level spells and managed to master a handful of advanced level ones.)

It won't be long before I can access the second stage of mirror replicator magic to morph into other living organisms apart from people.

The servants improved the most because we had successfully equipped them with techniques and countermeasures to deal with mages and shadows. Now, they were among of the few rare humans who could easily threaten any magicians, including us.

...

Let's just keep that a secret from them.

Mike had also set up countermeasures and defences in the Black Butler World so that when the War comes, Ciel and the rest will have more than enough time to defend against Dark Shadow's Army. When we figure out what the White Pearl (the silvery substance that Undertaker created which we decided to name it so as an opposite of the Black Pearl) was made of, we would also send in batches of it to them.

"I'll miss you!" Meyrin cried as she hugged me tightly.

Bardroy and Finny stood at the side with moist eyes. I smiled sadly before returning the gesture. Mike was at the side exchanging a few words with Ciel and Sebastian.

Today is the day that Mike and I had to go back to the Library. We could not stay any longer even if we wanted to.

The war won't wait for us.

"I'll miss you guys too." I replied, smiling sadly. "When this is all over, I will come back and find you guys again."

"Please do." Sebastian said as he gave a rare smile. "We still need you to turn Young Master back to human."

"Seriously?" I chortled with laughter while Ciel glared daggers at his butler. "Yes and that too."

"Omen, we need to go." Mike said impatiently. He stood near the portal with folded arms, looking unamused and almost bored. "The portal won't last long."

True to his words, the small portal was letting out small sparks like a spoilt electric appliance that was sparking. I nodded before I pulled out several necklaces with a gold leaf attached.

"These necklaces are proof that you are friends of the Guardians. It contains a special magic that places you under protection at the most crucial moment. Other than that, you can just treat it as a momentous gift from us." I explained.

"Although the leaf looks really valuable, it's just an ordinary leaf and don't give the extras carelessly. Give them to those you can trust with your life." Mike added.

They nodded seriously and took the necklaces. Mike suddenly realised something before he walked towards Sebastian.

"Before I forget," A small brown leather bag was gently placed in the palm of Sebastian's. "I think you would like to have your weapons back."

Sebastian gave an appreciative smile before he opened it to reveal a small set of crimson and black daggers. They are smooth and slender with red strips of cloth wrapping around their handle. The sharpness of the lethal weapons was reflected under the sunlight.

"No wonder you use cutleries." I commented as I admired the beauty of his weapons.

He picked up and gave a few good swipes in the air. While it might seem like ordinary moves, I could feel that the intense vibrations in the air particles that he was actually picturing attacking some of the vital parts of the human body. I shuddered in instinctive fear.

How the hell did I actually muster the guts to fight with him?

"My thanks to you, Micheal."

Sebastian gave a short bow that was filled with sincerity. Mike waved his hand in embarrassment. Guess he wasn't a fan of receiving gratitude from people.

Ciel strode towards me before he brought out a stuffed bunny that he had miraculously hid behind his back. It wasn't any ordinary bunny but the signature toy from his Funtom Company: Bitter Rabbit. It was smartly dressed in a black vest with a striped black and white ribbon tied neatly around its neck. An eye patch was tied around its right eye, looking like Ciel. Its remaining beady black eye looked at me expectantly.

"This is for you, Omen. As thanks for helping with my company and all that." Ciel explained before catching Sebastian's gesture to smile.

He struggled to smile and end up with a weird expression that was a cross between a constipated look and a frown.

"You don't have to try so hard to smile." I laughed at him. "A smile comes naturally to you even if you forget how to do it. But thank you for the bunny, I love it."

I squeezed it happily. His eyes revealed his shock but was replaced by genuine happiness as he gave a ghost of a smile. Staring at the characters from Black Butler World, I mustered up the courage to speak the words in my head.

"Well, this is a goodbye."

"Stay alive until then."

We jumped into the portal.

"Beware of Dark Shadow's Laughing Clowns!" Sebastian suddenly hollered.

Laughing Clowns? I asked myself as I turned back to him. However, it was already too late as we had leapt into the portal. The small portal door to the Black Butler World turned into a small white dot before disappearing.

[Welcome back, Omen and Micheal]

The all too familiar message appeared in front of us. Then the doors of the Library materialised in front of us.

We're finally back home.
