It was as if the attack never happened.
After the riders left, everyone swiftly returned to their lives as per usual.
No one breathed a word about the attack, as though everyone had come to an unspoken consensus. Though in their hearts there now existed a lingering fear towards the FADAI, that or anger towards them in the case of Anthony Pierce.
After receiving the 10 copper coins from Rachel, Kyle had contemplated long and hard on how to maximise the efficiency of his newfound wealth.
Even the cheapest meal served at the restaurant was priced at 3 copper coins, which meant that Kyle could still only afford a maximum of three meals!
Considering that there were around 20 days left of the journey, Kyle definitely had to think about how he wanted to spend his money.
And what Kyle came up with was to decisively spend it all on a good meal worth 10 copper coins!
If he had to buy something, then he would rather have the best he could get. At least he would not regret missing out on the good food when he looked back in the future!
As for the rest of the journey, he intended to just return to his fasting days.
Unfortunately, the food did not taste nearly as marvellous as he had expected…
Even though he was dissatisfied, all Kyle could do was to sigh in regret.
Returning to his room, he set up a simple isolation enchantment that blocked out all sound before returning to his meditation.
The next twenty days passed in a flash, and on this day, the Oasis Seeker finally reached its destination!
Port of Hope.
Though relatively smaller as compared to where Kyle had boarded the Oasis Seeker, the Port of Hope was still the largest port in the entire Star Empire, one of the greatest empires in Green Realm!
"We will be leaving first then. Make sure to carry out what I told you to do," Anthony Pierce instructed Samuel after disembarking from the ship.
"I will be sure to do as instructed, father!" Samuel nodded.
"Good," Anthony Pierce turned to leave upon receiving Samuel's assurance, bringing with him half of the entourage.
Anthony Pierce was returning to the land ruled by the Pierce Family, while Samuel was leaving for the family's satellite residence in the capital, thus they would be splitting up from here on.
After Anthony Pierce left, Samuel turned to the rest of the group and swept his gaze across their faces. In the absence of his father, Samuel was now the person in charge.
"Let's go!" Samuel did not waste words, directly instructing everyone to leave.
But the group had not walked far before coming to a stop, initiated by Samuel himself. He had halted his steps upon realising that someone in particular was not following his lead.
Turning around in surprise, Samuel asked out loud, "Why are you just standing there, Rachel? Are you not returning with us to Fern City?"
"I will return myself later. Farewell!" Rachel did a quick curtsy in response.
Samuel immediately recalled the existence of Kyle and frowned, "Suit yourself. But be mindful of your behaviour in public!"
"Eh?" Rachel was shocked at the sudden outburst, but Samuel had already turned to leave.
At this time, from the corner of her eyes, Rachel finally spotted the person whom she had been looking for!
"Kyle!" Rachel picked up her bag and hurried over upon seeing Kyle disembark from the ship, having already forgotten about the words that Samuel just said.
After the attack, Rachel was no longer able to find Kyle anywhere on the ship, as though he had completely disappeared. So this was the last opportunity for her to meet him, of course she would not let go of it that easily!
"It's you again?" Kyle shook his head and sigh helplessly. "Even though I truly appreciate your persistence as a fan, the most I can do is to bestow upon you a personal signature of mine, but that is all that you will be able to get out of me!"
Kyle suddenly lifted a finger and started drawing in mid-air at such a speed that his hand was a complete blur. But wherever his finger passed, a black light would linger in the air, resulting in a suspended image of the word 'Kyle'.
With a slight tap of his fingers, the word flew towards Rachel, directly entering her head through her glabella.
"What?"
Everything happened so fast that Rachel could only react after the word had entered her head. It was as if Kyle's signature had just been imprinted onto her mind. At a mere thought, Rachel was now able to clearly see Kyle's signature in her head!
She was speechless!
Since when had she even asked for his signature?
Was it really the right choice to try and hire this weirdo?
But despite her concerns, Rachel knew that she had to at least try.
This was an once-in-a-lifetime chance for her! How many times could a person come across someone as powerful as Kyle?
And while he was weird, at least Kyle had not gone overboard in any way.
Not yet, at least.
"No need to thank me. This is what you deserve for your own persistence!" Kyle waved her off before starting to walk off.
"Wait!" Rachel rushed to stop him. "I would like to thank you for your help on the ship!"
"Oh is that why you were waiting for me? Don't worry about it. It was a deal after all," Kyle shrugged.
"If you don't mind, may I ask what your plan is from here on?" Rachel tried to lead the conversation.
Kyle had previously mentioned that he was migrating to the Green Realm, but he had not elaborated on what he was intending to do. Thus Rachel wanted to make sure of his plans before she tried to recruit him, all so she could phrase her main question in the best way possible.
"Well, to be frank I have no idea. I will just look around for now," Kyle gave a bitter smile in response.
He truly had no idea what was in store for him in Green Realm. But with his capability, he was sure that he would be able to survive somehow, so he was not exactly too worried.
Hearing that, Rachel immediately tensed up in excitement. As she thought, Kyle was completely new to Green Realm!
This was the best case scenario for her!
Rachel cleared her throat to calm herself down before continuing.
"Let me formally introduce myself. I am Rachel Pierce, Head of the Pierce Third Branch Family, and I hereby offer you an invitation to join the Pierce Third Branch Family! I will be honest with you, my family is not in the best situation right now, and we desperately need talents like yourself! But fret now! If you join us, I will ensure that the family will take care of all your needs as long as you assist us in our operations! With you help, I am sure that the family will be able to soar to great heights, and you rewards will rise accordingly as well!"
Kyle was surprised by the sudden offer from the young lady, and subconsciously let out a smile.
"Heh, I refuse."
