Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Taking a Break

(Y/N)

"But Jack I thought the real training might start in 3 days. I never interacted such a real attack in this kind of situation." I exclaimed, knowing that I'm afraid of the reality that surrounds me. Panic spread like wildfire, triggered by gunshots.

"Then you must face it, like your own dream to be part of us in the strike team." He said with a tone of encouragement. He seldom encourages me in some kinds of hardships in life. This was the recent one.

I was confused now, my mind was spiraling between doubt and possibility. My temple started to throb wildly. I gently massaged it but it only made it worse.

"Aaaargghh!" I winced at the pain. I bent my knees until I lied to the ground since the throe had persisted, leaving me uncomfortable. I started to sweat and I suddenly hyperventilate. My hands went numb and Jack immediately went to my side.

"(Y/N) are you all right?! Y/N!" He patted my shoulder repeatedly, trying to catch my attention. I cannot utter a single word or either I cannot rise from my feet. I was lying, literally. Luckily the pain subsided but momentarily another trouble had disturbed my senses. My eyes went heavy and hypnotism struck down. Voices once I hear were replaced by nothing but echoes. Jack shouted worriedly, struggling to bring me back. But it was too late.

One moment the world fell around me, and I felt nothing.

My world had gone black just as I shut my eyes for good.

And there......w-was.........s-s-silence.

5 hours later

It was a bit cold but still I felt numb. I understand now. I've been knocked unconscious in Numbani since the terrorism happened. It was a weird feeling, and an untimely one. Anyway, I'm safe.

I woke up and found myself in a room full of medical stuff. I'm in a hospital but the surroundings looks familiar. Wait. It can't be. This was.....

A Swiss hospital! I laughed inaudibly. I can't believe I'm in Switzerland. I almost forgot about myself. I wore my usual outfit from before, no tubes or oxygen masks. Sunlight penetrated the blinds as warmth bathed me. I looked at my watch. It's almost three and it seems I'm getting rest here. The room's accent was turquoise, which calmed my senses. But is this Switzerland, for sure? I rushed down to the window from bed and peeked through the blinds. I saw a small recreational park with a crossroad mosaicked in autumn style. In the the center was a white flag with a red cross in the center. I'm really here in Switzerland. My mind was screaming for joy, but limitations came in the way just in case I would go insensible again. I sighed in relief of happiness. Then I heard a door opening. I looked back.

"Oh! You're finally awake dear." A doctor in golden hair went in carrying a medical record tugged in. She wore a fitting blue outfit for a doctor, showing enough of her curves that seemed her as a lithe person, and full of pockets of what seemed for emergency. She wore black gloves and an injection was plastered on her left armament which covered her arm. A strapped skirt of blue and white covered her lower region where she wore leggings suitable for her to move fast. Then she wore heels having a red hue reaching the end. Most of her outfit is of blue and white, probably their uniform. Her angelic voice made me felt her kindness through her words. She smiled.

"Oh yes, I'm fine now." I glanced back in an orderly manner. Then she approached me, leaving a space enough for us to talk.

"By the way, I'm Dr. Angela Ziegler, the head of this hospital. You can call me Angela if you like to." She introduced herself.

"I'm (Y/N, L/N) and I'm obliged to meet you." We then shake hands and chuckled at the same time.

"Well your uncle is waiting outside. He is eager to see you at this moment." My uncle? I do not have any uncle in Switzerland.

"My uncle? I do not have any.." I mumbled as a clever thought came in. "Oh yes my uncle, your right I should be going. Thanks anyway Angela!" I saluted her while leaving the room, she replied back.

After leaving I saw Jack sitting in a rack of metal chairs, his head tucked in his clasped hands as if he's praying. His left foot patted in anticipation. I approached him, leaving him surprised by the minute. He rose up to his feet. He hasn't changed much since before.

"You alright?" His tone was very plain as if nothing happened. I hate it sometimes when he says things plainly.

"Yeah, kind of." I yawned, still regaining strength from rest. Then I thought of something. Oh right, Switzerland.

A smile played on my lips and I started to ask. "Oh dad, why are we..." He stopped me. Shit is he being killjoy like all this time?

"We're going home now." There, he said it straight to the point. A moment later, Dr. Ziegler went out of the room, still holding her medical record. Then she reached out to Jack.

"Your nephew's fine Commander Jack. "(Y/N)'s back to normal. " She just suffered from prolonged stress and the collapse is due to dehydration." Then she faced me. "You should take some rest. And don't expose yourself to too much multitasking, you may get stressed again." She smiled.

"Oh yes, I will." I stuttered shyly.

"You're lucky that you're not involved in the crisis in Numbani. I never heard such a peaceful place would be attacked by the terrorists. It's not that I'm curious but how's the government doing?" She was concerned. She's very nice. But I wonder why she asked that question about the conflict.

"Well the military had covered up the scene in Numbani and so far only few got hurt. Things aren't a bit underway but the government had cleaned the mess." He answered like he was interviewed. I also listened to him since I haven't got any information about the terrorism.

Dr. Ziegler nodded lightly, but I heard her mumble in fascination.

"I wonder if there are any injured." She muttered. Jack also noticed.

"Um, did you say something?" He went like a gentleman suddenly. She reacted.

"Uh no. I pray for those who are affected in the attack." She said. "Well you came all the way here just to send her here. Why don't you stay here for a while. I know a place where you can relax, because by the looks of things, you look haggard and exhausted." She eyed us from head to toe and I found her voice very lively and full of enthusiasm. She's really a caring doctor.

"That won't be necessary. Anyway thanks for taking care of (Y/N) doctor. We should be going now. We have more matters to take." Morrison shot her a sedate look, at the same time placing his gloved hand onto my shoulder which made it heavy. He didn't seem worried about me.

"Then have a safe trip back then." She closed her statement by nodding lightly and walked away back where she should work. We started to make our way outside the hospital so we could go home right away.

"Are you okay?" Right now he started to worry.

"Yea, I'm fine. We should go now. I'm tired." I yawned for the second time. "That was a killjoy."

2 hours later

We stopped by at Gibraltar to get my personal things. This is not my home. I'm only stationed here to study about the army tech and stuff. My real home is in Bloomington in Indiana, Morrison's birthplace. We rode the same helicopter from Numbani too.

...

The helicopter landed in Illnois and Jack explained to me that we will take a train to Indiana since there isn't a helipad there. Well I didn't hesitate since I loved riding trains.

We found our way to the expressway where we could find one. And we waited for a while for the train to come. I looked at my watch. It's 5:56 PM. Sunset's about to getting dusk and there still aren't trains there.

3 minutes later

Finally we found one! Behind us was a crowd full of impatience that I can hear people complaining. We then hurried to the train and found us some seats to sit on. While waiting, I listened to music while Jack did sightseeing through the window. I mimicked him and I watch the wonderful view of the sun's peach rays that cascaded by the skyscrapers as twilight struck in the city. We did pass through the underground tunnels and met the countryside through the exit. Timely the current song that played was a country one so I let it run through my soul for a while (increasing the volume).

Malibu - Miley Cyrus

It met my vibe today like it was a lit song. But little do I know that someone's tugging my shoulder. I came back on reality as Jack struggled to make me recovered.

"Stop wearing that. You might get stressed again. You look like a crazed person." He scolded me in a serious way that left me silenced. I put my earphones and my CP back into my handy bag. "And don't wear that again." He added. I frowned. Finally I behaved, eating the boringness out of here.

...

"We're here!" I broke the silence as I approached the gates of our house. Relief took me and I sighed. Jack shushed me as he turned on the street lights from outside. Then he rang the doorbell. It sounded as usual. Then from inside Nancy, our maid came out of the door and opened the gates for us. She changed a lot somehow. She was wearing an apron. I wonder what she was cooking.

"Oh you're here goodness!" She greeted us. She was 23 years old and she was good-looking. We became friends in an instant by the time we first met. She was 13 that time and we were close to each other.

"Hey Nancy how are you, did you enjoy spending time with your friends?" I asked happily.

"Well you know that they do nothing but doing sluty things like that. I have nothing to do with it." She was damned by the question yet she's optimistic.

"Nancy is everything alright in the house?" Jack asked her. He's really concerned of his house when thieves tried to infiltrate and steal something in the house.

"Yes sir but the other day we got infiltrated but I handled the thief on my own. I almost killed him." Her tone went down at the same time she bowed down her head only to be disappointed or get scolded. Or so I thought.

"Well did he steal anything?" He asked sternly.

"Well almost, like I said I shot him with a tranquilizer with Daisy incapacitating him and retrieved back what he stole: a folder containing the agents of Overwatch." She explained. Then she continued as we walked inside. "I immediately tied him up the chair and tortured him for a while. I tried to extract information and his intentions are quite confidential." She stopped for a while and handed over her phone from the apron's pocket. "There I caught a video of him. After he said it all I contacted the nearby police station and there he was jailed."

"Very well Nancy, you've put your skills into good use huh?" Jack was pleased by her explanations. "And because of that you have a huge bonus for this month." He said. Nancy smiled and quickly gestured by his reward. She was not surprised. Perhaps he had given her such big salary after all these years.

"I'll just take some rest. I'll eat dinner later." I said as I ran up the stairs and into my room.

"Make sure to eat before sleeping (Y/N)." Jack said.

"Uhuh." I replied as I embraced the smooth fabric on my bed. I should sleep and remove those worries for a while.

Perhaps I should ask Jack about everything that troubles me.

I should take a break for now. I thought as I turned on the aircon and changed my clothes, then slept for a while.
