Chapter 51 - So-called friendship

Ryn checked the time and sighed a bit. The class ended a bit later than scheduled. Although she still had time for her exercise, she needed to cut it short. She still had to buy grocery after a few days postponing it.

So troublesome!

She went into the changing room to change into her gym clothes, only to bump into Rebecca.

Rebecca paused. Her mouth opened but no voice came out.

Ryn simply walked around her, ignoring her completely. This was how they were now. Ryn was no longer in the group so she had no business to even talk with them. The group did not try to talk with her even though some of the girls kept glancing at her during class. They did their own thing.

She acted as if they were not there. She was used being alone so when they gave her a cold shoulder, it did not affect her much.

Why should she care what people think of her when they never think about her feeling?

Such a waste of time.

It took her no time to change into her exercise outfit. She did a very simple stretching routine, just a quick stretching to prepare her body for the real exercise. Then, she chose a treadmill and started to run.

"Why are you doing this?"

Without looking at the speaker, Ryn continue running, "What do you mean?"

"Is it enjoyable to treat us like fools?"

Ryn pushed a button to stop the treadmill. Then she turned to look at Rebecca, cocking an eyebrow.

Why did it feel like they were putting themselves as victims?

"Are you kidding me?"

"No. I'm serious. You're acting like we meant nothing at all. Is it because you are already popular, you're looking down on us?"

"I can't believe this," Ryn shook her head and started back running.

Rebecca pushed the button to stop the treadmill.

"Are you ignoring me now?"

Ryn groaned to herself. She turned and looked at Rebecca, now staring hard.

Rebecca gulped as she took a step back nervously without thinking.

"Look. I have never looked down on anyone, not even you. Why should I when we are no longer friends? It was not me who break our friendship but all of you did it. Was it my fault? I don't think so. I treat everyone the same."

Ryn used a towel to wipe the sweat on her face and arms.

"You all keep blaming me for hiding my job but let's be honest here. Do all of you tell your secrets to everyone? Do all of you tell every single thing to each other? I don't even know where you live or who your parents are so why is it my fault that you don't know me? You don't even try to ask me, just pointing fingers to me all the time. Is this your so-called friendship? If this is what you meant by being friends, I'm sorry, I am not interested in this."

With that, Ryn grabbed her water bottle and towel and headed to the changing room. It seemed like she would not be able to have her exercise with Rebecca trying to make her the heartless one.

So troublesome!

She did not change. She simply took her belongings from the locker and went to the exit. She put on the earphone and tried not to think about the bothersome activity also known as grocery shopping.

She was just waiting for a bus when her phone rang. She looked at the name and sighed a bit.

"Hello."

"Hello, Love. Am I disturbing you?"

"…"

He laughed awkwardly. Was he being too fast?

"Is there something you need to say?"

He coughed to cover the awkwardness. Then, his eyes narrowed.

"Are you alright?"

She blew out a heavy sigh. Could he detect it?

"I am on the way to the campus. Have a meal with me?"

She closed her eyes to calm herself. Should she be angry or be thankful when he was on the way to pick her up?

"I'm at the bus stand near the gym. You know it, right?"

"I'll be there in around ten minutes. Wait for me."

Ryn sat and waited. She took out her planner and checked her schedule. Tomorrow after class she had a business lunch. This weekend she had a photoshoot in Japan so she would go there on Friday, right after class. Once the shoot finished, she would take a plane home.

She blew out a sigh.

Her schedule was crazy.

Luckily she had no class on Monday so she could sleep once she returned until Monday. Two more weeks of studying, then the final exam.

Once she was done with this semester, she would have a few weeks for a short break. Then she would start her practical.

Mika already booked her for her practical, hence their collaboration in the make-up product. Mika even prepared her office and obviously has people decorating her office room. Ryn tried not to think about it. She did not want to get a headache and would only face it when she started her practical, not before.

She checked the Google Calendar in her phone just in case Mei Li added appointments in it. Her lips pursed a bit as she checked.

Both Mei Li and her had their own colour for the calendar. Mei Li would insert the dates as yellow and if Ryn agreed to attend, Ryn would edit it and change the colour to green. If she disagreed with it because she had other commitment or plain did not want to attend it, she would change it to red.

Then she would write down those she agreed into her planner.

This arrangement worked for them.

Ryn wrote down the new appointments she agreed. Then she sent a message for Mei Li to arrange them accordingly.

A green Ferrari stopped in front of her. She lifted her head and watched as the driver walked out of the car and went to her with a smile.

"Have you been waiting long?" Jeremy asked as he leaned down, preparing to kiss her but she jerked back to avoid him. She instead handed her gym bag to him and walked to the car.

He sighed and took her bag to put in the passenger side at the back. He also quickly opened the door for her and smiled when she murmured her thanks.

When they were together last time, he had never picked her up because he was worried their relationship was exposed when he was just starting as an artist. Not many knew about them. He kept their relationship as a secret for the sake of his career.

But now… screw everything.

He wanted the world to know she's his. Even if he lost his fans, he did not care. He did not want to keep her as a secret anymore. His paranoid made he lost her last time but this time… not anymore.

"Have you done your exercise?" he asked as a way to start the conversation. She usually changed back into the outfit she wore earlier when she finished her exercise in the gym.

She blew out a sigh. "No."

"Why not?"

"I just don't feel like exercising in the uni's gym. J."

"Hmm…?"

"Is it okay if I use the gym at your place? I didn't subscribe to any gym near my place and I still need to do my exercise today."

"Sure. Then, we'll eat at my place too."

He could not help from grinning. How could he be so lucky?

Ryn simply nodded. She did not mind cooking for their meal. She was used to it before. She would take it as a payment for using his gym.
