Chapter 9 - War Of Secrets

CW~This chapter includes sexual abuse and violence.

The ride felt as though we were traveling for days. I must have thought of a million worst-case scenarios, my mind was screaming at me as if I was in the middle of a rave. The rocks under our tires rumbled as we pulled up to a dark mansion. Once everyone killed their bike the only thing left to hear was the wind. No crickets, no rustling of leaves, just soft whistles and gentle puffs of cold air. "Alright, let's- ". Before I could finish my sentence, a bullet shot down, hitting one of my men right in his leg. The eerie silence was immediately shattered by screams and gunshots. "Snipers! He has snipers get down!" Everyone did their best to take cover as we took on fire; I pulled Sabrina down behind a pillar at my side. The shots rang out as everyone fired up towards the windows and bullets flew by from both sides.

"Charles! Get your men inside now!" Charles nodded at me and waited for us to provide cover fire before rushing his men inside. I watched as they disappeared through the enormous doors and suddenly bikes zoomed into the parking lot. It was an ambush on all sides. How could i not epect this from him. To think we'd just stroll up on 'him'...

My men and I turned our fire to the members on bikes. "Sabrina, where is Rachael!?" "He's keeping her in his old room towards the back of the house!" I looked back at my men holding cover before I grabbed Sabrina's hand and rushed her inside. She swiftly led us through the halls they were filled with distant gunfire and the lound thumping of our shoes. Somehow all I heard was my heart racing. All I felt was my chest tightening. "It's just down this corridor!" Before she could turn the corner I grabbed her arm and pulled her back. Our eyes locked for a moment and somehow everything fell away. Suddenly my breathing slowed and her eyes were the obly thing that mattered. Loud footsteps approaching brought us back to reality and I turned to see the guys catching up.

"Alright, a few of you hold up here. The rest of you go meet up with Charles and provide backup for him. No one, I repeat, no one is to kill Edgar. He's mine." Everyone nodded and as we split up, Sabrina led me through all the twists and turns until she stopped. "This one." With no hesitation, I kicked the door open and rushed in. I raised my gun ready for anything, ready to end it all. To my surprise the room was empty except for a rope left in the corner. I gripped the heavy handle with my right before sending my left fist through the wall.

*RACHAEL'S POV*

"Ohhhhh god!" With a few more thrusts and loud grunts, Edgar finally crawled off of the bed fully satisfied. He pulled his boxers up and over himself before he fished a cigarette box and a lighter out of his jeans pocket. "I swear I'll kill you for doing this to me." "Ugh, you're so noisy." I watched as he placed a cigarette in between his lips and then lit it before taking a long drag and looking at me. "You know he won't want you now that I've had you. He will just throw you away like damaged goods." Tears welled up in my eyes again as I looked away from him and I heard him chuckle. 'It's not true. He's lying. Tony will save me. I'll be okay' I closed my eyes trying to convince myself that Tony loved me. That nothing would change when he rescued me, if he rescued me. That wasn't enough to make the worst possibility stop lingering in the back of my head.

The desire to scream for Tony overwhelmed me; I was in agony and I wanted nothing more than for him to come in and save me, take me back home, and never leave my side again. Suddenly, a burning sensation shot through my leg tearing me away from my thoughts. "AHHH!" I thrashed around and struggled against the ropes as I looked up at Edgar. "Oops, my bad had to bring you back from your daydream." He smirked and took another drag from his cigarette before touching it on my leg again and again. "FUCK! STOP IT! PLEASE STOP!" "That's it, kitten, beg me, you bitch." He burned me repeatedly until my thigh was covered in whelps. My screams filled the room and my legs trembled violently.

My wrists and ankles were now cut up and bleeding as I struggled to get free. "I told you if you complied, then I wouldn't hurt you. Not only did you threaten me, but you let one of my favorite hostages go. Pfft, what a pity and an awful shame. You'll just have to take her place now, won't you?" He put his cigarette out and then got on top of me again. "You'll just have to learn to love it. Two, three, four, five, six. It went on repeatedly for hours and in the middle of every break, he'd torture me. Lighting a new cigarette each time and burning my body.

'BANG'

As Edgar tried for a seventh time, a loud gunshot rang out, and a wide smile spread across his face. "It looks like the party has started." He cut my arms and legs loose before he tossed the rope in the corner and pulled his clothes over himself. I wasn't crying anymore, and I wasn't screaming anymore. My body was exhausted and aching. "Let's go see my brother's friends, shall we?" Edgar threw me over his shoulder and carried me to the west wing, where Ethan was waiting for us in the dining hall. He sat me down in a chair as Ethan handcuffed me and I slowly passed out from the pain. 'Brother?' What exactly did he mean, brother? If Ethan was his brother, why would he threaten to kill him before?

"Rachael!" I jumped at the sound of Emily's voice, and I slowly lifted my head. There was Charles, Emily, and the rest of my gang standing there with their weapons drawn at Ethan. I realized there was no Tony, and now it all made sense to me. Edgar didn't want Tony to get to me. He mentioned going to see his brother's friends. He knew Sabrina would lead him straight to the room he held me in, so he moved me here with Ethan. Tony and Edgar were brothers! My head ached as I put all the pieces together and the chilly feeling of a gun pressed against my temple. "Take another step and I swear I'll end her life right here right now." "Easy now, put down your gun. If you kill her, your life ends tonight. You'll have no way to escape; you're outmatched."

"If I kill her, my life ends, but you lose someone you truly care about. I joined this gang to look death in the face every day I'm not afraid." Ethan pressed the gun harder, and I made eye contact with Charles. I gave him a weak nod. "This isn't about her and you know it, you got everyone here like you wanted. Let her go and handle your business like a man." Suddenly Edgar broke out in laughter. He pressed the gun even harder as ii winced. "You'd know all about handling your business like a real man huh?" I looked at Emily and I shed a few tears before mouthing 'I love you'. I turned my attention to Charles and I gave him a long look just hoping he'd be ready for anything like I always knew.

"Quiet now are we? Nothing more left to say big man?" I raised my head quickly hit it against the gun causing Edgar to drop it. Charles shot Ethan right between his eyes and then shot Edgar in his arm. He fired multiple shots as Edgar ran out of a side door escaping. I dropped my head and closed my eyes as Emily rushed to my side and gently cupped my cheeks in her hands. "Rachael! Rachael… come on, keep your eyes open for me, my love. We got you. You're safe now." Her voice was like medicine, her touch was so gentle. I thought I'd die before getting to see her again. "Emily… To- Tony… he can't be trusted. He's Edgar's brother." I slowly lost consious, as she looked over at Charles and he ran out of the room; making his way to the west wing.

*TONY'S POV*

"Sabrina, she's not here! Where is- ". I turned my attention back to Sabrina and Edgar was holding a knife at her neck. "Hello, brother." "You're not my brother." "Oh, come on, after all these years you're still treating me like this?" "You were a mistake. You were only born because of a moment of weakness from my father." "Correction, our father." He smirked at me and pressed the knife harder into Sabrina's neck. "I've been waiting for this day ever since you left me to die." "Edgar, you know I had no choice! You need to let Sabrina go. No one has to get hurt anymore. This is between just you and I, please let her go." I watched as he smirked and a small drop of blood started to run down Sabrina's neck as she winced. "It's great to see you're the one begging for a change. Get on your knees and beg." I shook my head, and I gripped my gun tighter as I looked at him.

"Edgar-". "I SAID BEG!" Sabrina screamed out in pain as he made the cut a bit bigger and I held up my hands. "Okay! Okay…" I tossed my gun to the side before kneeling right in front of him with my hands up. "Edgar, I beg you to let her go. Please let her go." "Awe was that the best you could do?" Edgar tightened his grip on Sabrina and I watched as tears streamed down her face. "For fuck sake Edgar, let her go, please! She has nothing to do with this! Take me and let her go. I'm begging you!" A huge smirk spread across his face and he let her go, shoving her to the side before kicking me right in the face. My body went numb as I fell to the ground and made eye contact with Sabrina.

I spit out a bit of blood and slowly wiped my mouth. "R- run…" She hesitated for a moment before running out of the room and I struggled to get up. "You know what's crazy, you'd risk your life for women and your stupid members, but wouldn't do it for your brother, your flesh and blood." Edgar grabbed me by my hair, pulling me up to look at him, and then punched me right in the face, forcing me to fall back to the ground. "You watched father drive his knife right down my face as he gave me this scar and you did nothing." I spit up some more blood as I excersiced my jaw. "Edgar, I was just a young boy… what did you expect me to do?" "Help me! You could have helped me!" He kicked me in my stomach, causing me to fall over on my back as I groaned in pain.

"You let him torture me without doing a thing! I begged you to help me!" He kicked me again, this time in my ribs. "I screamed out for you to do something!" Then again, his foot connected with my ribs again. "But what did you do? You turned your back on me!" Over and over, Edgar took out his hate and anger for what my father had done to him on me. My mind went back to the times Edgar and I were close, times when our abusive father would be away and our mother would cherish us. There was a time when he was pure and full of dreams that he shared with my mother. Even though Edgar wasn't her child, she still treated him like her own and when she died, the Edgar I knew died with her. That's when father's abuse started, that's when he tormented us. More so Edgar, he blamed Edgar for everything and when something went wrong Edgar was the one who'd be beaten.

"You know, I knew that when I was old enough, I'd get my revenge. Nothing was sweeter than to take our father's life." My eyes met his gaze, and I shook my head in disbelief. "You didn't…" "Oh, but I did, and I have to say it was the best day of my life. To watch him try to apologize for all he did to me. He even tried to justify it. Can you believe that?" I watched as he shook his head and sniffed before wiping a single tear from his cheek. He pulled his gun from his waistband and cocked it before pointing it at me. "I plan on making today the second-best by taking your life. Goodbye big brother..."

'BANG'

I closed my eyes as a gunshot rang out, and I waited for the pain to take over. I waited for it all to sink in, for the adrenaline to leave my body and the coldness to set in but it never did. "Fuck!" I opened my eyes to find Edgar kneeling on the ground. I saw him squeezing his hand, and that's when I noticed Charles in the doorway. He had shot Edgar's hand, and he nodded at me. He quickly made his way towards us with his gun still pointed at Edgar. Edgar started to reach for his gun but Charles kicked it away and I struggled up onto my feet. "He-he's not our kill Charles…" He met my gaze and nodded.

'BANG'

Another gunshot rang out, and Edgar's body went limp as he fell on his face. A pool of blood started to form under his body, and I looked over to find Sabrina with the gun I had tossed to the side earlier. "He was mine." She walked out and Charles hesitated before pulling my arm over his shoulder and helping me out of the mansion. "Big brother, huh?" I groaned as my body was aching and I nodded. "I'll explain later." "What the hell are you doing, Charles? Were you not listening to Rachael at all!?" Emily and the rest of our men that were left stood outside loading up.

"Rachael!? Where is she!?" "Not in any mood to see you that's for sure." "It's a lot to explain okay but not right now, let's get everyone out of here…" She sighed as she looked at Charles and he helped me into his truck as Sabrina climbed on my bike and we all rode back home. The moon lit up the night as we drove along the quiet roads. My body was aching, but I managed to relax and focus on the stars up above. "So, who are you going to choose?" I looked over at Charles, a bit confused, but then I looked out the window and saw Sabrina in the rear-view mirror. "I thought she was dead, Charles. Edgar had taken her months ago. I didn't think she was alive."

"Yeah, but she is and so is Rachael." "She's your fiancé. Who are you going to choose? I didn't see Emily jumping for joy earlier." "Ex-fiancé... you made sure of that." Charles and I locked eyes and all I could see was hurt; at one time this man was my brother, but I betrayed him. "You don't understand how sorry I am for that Charles." "Yeah, but now's not the time we will talk about this later?" We both nodded, and I turned my gaze back to the night sky. The simple part was over. We defeated Edgar, but there were plenty of secrets to be exposed now. I knew eventually the truth would come out, but now I wished it were a lot sooner.
