Chereads / The Legend of Ice / Chapter 99 - To Burn Everything

Chapter 99 - To Burn Everything

Birds are hard to capture in an open space. But shrink down the area around them or hold at least one of their wings, then they are yours to play with as you please.

As my Chaos Flame spread into the surroundings, Horus stopped fleeing and slowly faced me.

"Now, your majesty, if you don't mind, I need to kill you quickly, I still have lots to do!"

It's as if he swore to keep surprising me over and over again. He was not provoked at all; instead he simply stared at me. And if looks could kill, I would already be dead.

"I didn't really want to confront you again, murderer," Horus said as he opened his left eye, his Divine Eye, the Eye of Horus.

"What can you do, my dear nephew? That eye already proved useless against me. Unless... Did you unlock a new ability?" I asked in a playful tone.

Horus didn't answer, but his eyes twitched slightly that I barely noticed it.

'Huh-' I didn't have time to react when a gigantic spear hit me from behind. It didn't pierce my skin but it sure did knock me down.

My fury rose, never in my entire life have I suffered such humiliation, at the hands of a youngster no less. "Why you... You are going to pay for this, you sneaky little bastard! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!!!"

For the first time since I returned to Egypt, I haven't used my sword at all. Right now, however, I pulled it from its sheath and coated it with my Chaos Flame.

Using the full force of this body, I lunged forward at Horus and swung my sword. But the strike didn't touch him, clashing against a sword that appeared using the power of his Divine Eye.

"You underestimated me, Set," Horus said as our blades separated, "and you are still underestimating me now. Mark my words, this will prove to be your downfall!"

"Is that so? You sure talk big, kid. Come show me what you are capable of!"

We clashed several times.

Again.

And again.

And again again again…

Clearly Horus has improved a lot since the last time we met. I was still holding back, mind you, so his attacks weren't affecting me that much.

I was about to finish things up when a ray of light descended from the sky. Following that, a jaguar was moving at a very high speed. The two of them stopped in front of the young Pharaoh, shielding him from me.

"Lady Bast, you shouldn't have involved yourself in this," I stated calmly. "As for you, Nephthys, how dare you show up here. Are you really going to go against your husband? Even when you know the extents of my power?"

"I have to act, Set. You have gone too far already," Nephthys replied. "As for Bast..."

"I am here on the orders of the Pharaoh," the dark-skinned beauty, Bast, interrupted.

I squinted my eyes a little and said, "Really..."

Horus, on the other hand, seems to not want their help, "Get the hell out of my way, I command it!"

All three of us looked at him weirdly.

"We have the arrogant brat back," I smirked.

Horus screamed and shot to the air. A long- spear appeared in his hand and he chanted. The spear was immediately covered in what seemed to be Wind elemental energy.

'This kid never learns,' I thought and showed a grin, which infuriated him even more.

I let him strike me, it was fun to see him fall into the depths of despair. It naturally had no effect on me, and the Wind energy dissipated.

Horus' expression turned ugly. "Do you understand now?" I mocked. "You never had any chance against me in the first place.

"You are weak, and the weak don't deserve to live!"

I used my utmost speed and went past my wife and Bast, grabbing Horus by the hand.

"You see, Horus, I love seeing pain, it fills my heart with so much joy," I whispered in his ears and contracted my hand. The sound of bones breaking echoed around us.

Horus bellowed in agony. However, to my displeasure, Bast was already behind me before I could break more bones.

I held Horus quickly and threw him towards the direction of a mortal city. Considering the power of that throw, he was soon out of our sights.

"Horus!" Nephthys shouted.

I turned towards her and said in a dangerous tone, "Shut your mouth or I will cut that tongue!"

"Set, please, that's enough death and destruction!"

"Enough? Did you say enough? I am the god of chaos, what part of that don't you get?"

I evaded Bast's attack and flew towards my wife at high speed.

"This will teach you to defy me again!" And I thrust my sword into her abdomen, piercing her body from the front and the back.

I removed my sword and watched her fall on the ground. But to my surprise, the wound healed quickly as if nothing happened.

She sent an attack with her wings, but I easily blocked it, only to pierce my sword in her body again. I didn't stop there. I kept repeating that over and over again until her body couldn't keep up.

I helped her sit on her knees and said, "Your only useful ability was healing, now even that is gone."

"You know, I'm glad you're the one killing me," she smiled and said with blood oozing out of her mouth, "that way I can fully remember who to curse in the afterlife!"

"Enjoy your time in hell, Nephthys!" I said. I raised my sword and swung it.

My wife's head rolled on the ground away from me. All of this happened in the blink of an eye, and Bast was a bit too close to me now.

"You bastard!" she shouted as she attacked with her claw.

Using my speed, I moved out of they way. I looked back at her and said, "You're a bit annoying to fight right now. Catch me if you can!"

Horus went through many buildings before stopping.

His hand was agonizing him and clouding his thinking.

"I... need... to get...b-back!" he muttered.

"Are you alright, sir?"

Only then did Horus notice the young girl beside him. More people were coming too.

'Mortals? And from the look of their tattered clothes, poor mortals. How disdainful!'

However, he soon found himself speechless. The people were tending to him, trying to help him, covering his small wounds.

'What the-'

A booming sound could be heard, and the bringer of doom arrived.

...

I looked at the scene below me. Horus swarmed with mortals.

"How utterly disgusting, your majesty," I mocked him, "the mortals have sullied your divine being."

"I will finally grant you your death wish, Horus. Receive my most powerful technique!"

My Chaos Flame spread and formed gigantic meteors above the mortal city.

"To burn everything!"
