Sofie confusedly looked towards the spiral staircase leading down to the first floor of the martial hall pagoda, as she watched Yang Meng got dragged away by elder Mei Yue.
She really wondered why Yang Meng looked like he was about to cry at any moment. Maybe he bit his tongue earlier when he answered for elder Mei Yue?
Putting whatever Yang Meng was going to do to the back of her mind, Sofie glanced over towards the 2 different sections the floor was split into. Qi spells and Weapon skills.
The things that interested Sofie the most was definitely the qi spells, so without thinking so much about it, Sofie entered the section for qi spells together with most of the new disciples. Afterall, qi spells were way cooler than weapon skills and they looked flashy!
Trying to half-heartedly convince herself that qi spells were stronger than weapon skills, Sofie started looking through the different qi spells that used fire qi.
[Fire Burst, First style of the explosion paradise series]
[Basic Fireball]
[Fire Magic Demon Spell of Destruction]
[Conjure Fire Rabbit]
[Fir…
There were a lot of different qi spells, some with a questionable name… The elders of the sect should be the once supplying the different martial art techniques… They really came up with some interesting names…
Thinking about this, Sofie did not know what she should feel, as it looked like the elders of the scorching sun sect were 'unique' in their own way.
…
As there was no time limit on how long they could stay to pick a martial art technique, at least not that she knew of, Sofie decided to take her time looking through the different martial art techniques.
For now, she had found a few martial art techniques that grabbed her interest. One of them was the qi spell [Conjure Fire Rabbit].
The qi spell was a mortal peak grade qi spell and from what Sofie found out, the different grades of martial art techniques were further split into low, mid and peak. This meant the [Conjure Fire Rabbit] qi spell Sofie found could be considered difficult, at least on her cultivation realm.
The [Conjure Fire Rabbit] qi spell would allow the one casting the qi spell to conjure a fire rabbit made of purely made out of fire qi. The fire rabbit would be able to attack an enemy and if the one who conjured it willed, explode.
Another qi spell Sofie found was [Fire Circle, Second style of basic fire mastery]. The qi spell was a higher grade than the [Conjure Fire Rabbit] qi spell and was an earth low grade qi spell. The qi spell would allow the caster to make circles of fire around either themselves, enemies or somewhere random within a certain range. The range which the qi spell could be cast would expand, as the user advanced in cultivation.
Sofie was in deep thought, as she concentrated on the different qi spells in front of her. The [Conjure Fire Rabbit] was the lowest grade of all the qi spells she found, but… but… It could conjure a cute rabbit…
This of course made it so the [Conjure Fire Rabbit] qi spell had top priority within Sofie's head…
"Ah, S-Sofie. Have you chosen a qi spell yet?" As she was thinking whether she should just pick the [Conjure Fire Rabbit] qi spell, Sofie heard a familiar voice behind her.
"N-no, I was just about to- Aaaah! W-what happened to y-you, Yang Meng…?" Sofie turned around and was met with a horrific scene. Her rival, Yang Meng, was clearly beaten black and blue by someone. Sofie could even see that he had difficulty standing up.
Who would do such a thing? W-what happened while he was gone with elder Mei Yue? D-did they get ambushed by someone?
Her mind going into full speed, Sofie tried to find out why her rival would end up in such a pathetic state. The only thing she could not think of was, who would dare do something like that inside the strongest sect on the entire island?
No matter how hard she tried to think, Sofie could not find an answer.
"Ah… You see… I fell down the stairs when I left together with e-elder Mei Yue…" scratching the back of his head, Yang Meng answered embarrassedly. Clearly not even believing what he just said.
Sofie looked up at his face closely for a few moments before she nodded a little. "O-okay, b-but I think you should go back and rest for the day."
…
Yang Meng just stared at Sofie, who returned to looking through qi spells, stunned for a few minutes after hearing her accept his excuse like the truth.
She clearly believed him just now! H-how…?
Completely stunned that the excuse he made worked, Yang Meng slowly recovered and looked at the qi spells Sofie was looking through.
Most of them were in the earth low or mid-grade with a single qi spell being at the mortal peak grade.
Intrigued that there was only a single qi spell in the mortal grade, Yang Meng picked it up and looked through it.
The qi spell was called [Conjure Fire Rabbit] and he knew that there was an upgraded version of this on the higher floors, so as the plump little gentleman he was… Yang Meng decided to inform his first friend.
"Hey, Sofie!"
"W-what?"
Clearly looking a little flustered at suddenly being called out, Sofie turned around and looked directly into the eyes of Yang Meng.
"The qi spell [Conjure Fire Rabbit], do you like it?" Yang Meng looked at his friend as he asked with a smug grin plastered on his face.
"Y-yes?" Not knowing where this was going, Sofie answered slightly confused, as she tilted her head a little while looking up at Yang Meng.
"Well, you are lucky that I know a little about this qi spell! On one of the upper levels, there is a qi spell called [Conjure Fire Rabbits]. The qi spell [Conjure Fire Rabbit] can be called a lesser version compared to the [Conjure Fire Rabbits], which is an earth upper grade martial technique! So, if you like the qi spell [Conjure Fire Rabbit], I recommend you pick it." Yang Meng started explaining, as he smugly looked at Sofie. Clearly trying to show off how knowledgeable he was.
Sofie was amazed and looked extremely excited, as she quickly took the [Conjure Fire Rabbit] qi spell out of Yang Meng's hand, while greedily looking through the qi spell.
"Will practicing [Conjure Fire Rabbit] help me for latter when I practice the [Conjure Fire Rabbits] qi spell!?" Sofie looked extremely excited, as she grabbed hold of Yang Meng's damaged body.
"Ouch, ouch… Y-yes it will! P-please release me, it hurts." Looking like he was about to cry, Yang Meng answered Sofie's question.
"Ah, S-sorry, sorry, sorry! I-I-I d-didn't mean t-to…" Discovering what she was doing, Sofie quickly released him with a guilty look on her face and immediately started apologising.
Yang Meng felt a little bad, as he looked down at Sofie almost tearing up while apologising to him. "I-its fine. Now that you have found a martial art technique, just go to the front of the martial hall pagoda and show them your sect badge. They will register it for you."
"T-thank you! T-then I will be on my way, see you later Yang Meng." Saying so, Sofie soon disappeared down the spiral staircase a little away from them.
"Hehe, at least someone realises how awesome I am!" Talking to himself, Yang Meng Proudly looked around the second floor, to see if there was anyone else in need of help. Though it was mostly to show off…
"Hmm… How awesome you are; indeed, it doesn't seem like the earlier 'lesson' worked properly!"
Hearing this voice, Yang Meng started shivering all over as he slowly turned around. "G-grandma Mei…?"
"Who are you calling grandma brat! It is elder Mei Yue for you!" Looking pissed off, elder Mei Yue grabbed the collar of Yang Meng and started dragging him towards the spiral staircase once again.
"E-elder Mei Yue, P-please show some mercy, it was just a slip of the tongue, its not because you are old-" Realising his mistake too late, Yang Meng felt the speed of elder Mei Yue increase. Quickly flying through the martial hall pagoda and outside.
…
Sofie was on her way to register the [Conjure Fire Rabbit] qi spell at the entrance of the martial hall pagoda, as a shadow quickly zoomed past her.
For some reason, she felt like she could see the crying face of Yang Meng grabbed by the shadow zooming past her.
Sadly, Sofie ignored the crying face of Yang Meng and instead started to admire the person who could move so quickly.
Cultivation was indeed amazing!
