Chapter 7 - Time is 'not' of the essence

"the only thing i have ever desired so strongly is you, you and just you."

When Mia was done with rolling around the bed and cuddling with Milo, she decided she wanted to explore. She felt like she needed to know her surroundings if she were to ever make it out alive of this place. She left Milo snoring on her bed and got out of bed.

Just then she heard a knock on the door and a voice, "Miss Mia, I reckon you had a good rest.", the butler came in.

"Oh hey Gerard. I was meaning to ask you. Could you show me around the place and I need a change of clothes too."

"Why yes of course." Gerard replied all enthusiastically pointing to her side. "The closets are located near the right; adjoining the bathroom. All your clothes are in there."

Mia was stunned. She had been staying in this room and although it was huge, she hadn't really looked around. She went to the bathroom and she was amazed to see the size of the bathroom with its shiny and spotless marble floor. It could be a whole house itself. When she walked into the closet, she was shell-shocked again. It wasn't just a closet. It was a freaking department store with clothing, accessories, shoes, bags, cosmetics, you name it. It didn't have any brand name on any of the items there but all the items felt like it was well-made and of high quality. Everything that she would need and would want was all there and the strange thing was as she went through each clothes and even the shoes, it was all her size. 'How the heck did they even know her size?', Mia thought to herself.

As if sensing Mia's thoughts, Gerard replied, "They are specifically for you. It was custom created for you since you are the Master's wife and the Mistress to this household."

'Mistress with no recollection. That's so stupid.', Mia thought to herself.

"I will leave you to freshen up and I can show you around.", Gerard politely nodded to her.

As soon as Gerard left, Mia took a quick shower and picked out the plainest clothes the closet had. She picked up a white t-shirt and jeans which was stacked to the corner. And she found a pair of white sneakers to go along it. Her hair was still wet but she didn't want to let Gerard wait any further for her so she walked out with her hair dripping with water.

"Sorry to keep you waiting Gerard. I'm ready for my tour.", Mia started apologetically making her way to him.

"No such thing, Ms. Mia.", Gerard replied all stoic and nonchalantly.

As Gerard walked around, he explained the structure of the buildings and each rooms and their significance of it.

"What time is it? I am getting tired and hungry.", Mia declared.

"No such thing. But we can prepare something for you.",Gerard replied.

"What do you mean?", Mia asked confused looking at Gerard.

"Time. No such thing as time in Hell.", Gerard continued.

"Huh? I don't understand.", Mia was greatly confused.

"Human time is different from the time in Hell. Since time can be controlled by the Gods and Master as well, time moves differently here.", Gerard explained.

"So a year in human time is the equivalent of ...", Mia left the question hanging.

"A million years in Hell.", Gerard finished for Mia.

Mia gasped and was silent for a moment.

"So when I had first awoken on my first day here. How long was it that I was in that room?", Mia asked shyly with her head to the floor.

"Maybe an hour in human time?", Gerard replied.

"An h..", Mia choked on her words while giving Gerard an apologetic look. And she acted all crazy and smashed things around her.

"I .. ..", Mia wanted to apologize for her behavior but Gerard cut her to it.

"Apologies Ms. Mia. We didn't mean to frighten you and Master wanted to speak to you first when you had awaken thus we just kept mum."

"Oh.", Mia exclaimed.

Mia was internally beating herself up regarding her first day when she woke up. Never would she have thought she had just spent just 'an' hour there. And she caused quite a ruckus. 'I guess Time is not of the essence in Hell', Mia thought to herself; too embarrassed to face Gerard or the others.
