A red airboat flew across the forest disturbing the peaceful rest time of birds and magical beasts, a large symbol of a boulder was portrayed on the airboat. As it soar through the skies the symbol glittered in a dazzling way.
Some flying magical beasts in fury tried to attack the flying airboat travelling through the air, but they were immediately shot down even before they reached near the ten meters of the airspace from the air boat.
Inside the bar, Lucas swirled the wine with one hand and played with magic on an another. He didn't gave a single glance to the falling flying beasts out of the window. As soon as the airboat reached near some of the forest, there was always some flying beasts that dare to attack the airboat.
At first Lucas was excited but after a while he cooled down. He realized that it was not a rare scene but a frequent occurrence. Those beasts have high vitality, so the attack from airboat will only cause it a light injury and minor problems to mobility. But before the beasts recovers the airboat would have been long gone, so they weren't much of a threat.
A pale yellow flame flickered and danced in Lucas's palm. Lucas directed his complete focus on his hands and tried to transform the flame into different shapes. At first Lucas failed spectacularly and couldn't bring about any changes besides the intensity in the temperature, but gradually Lucas could slowly influence the flame to transform it's shape, but even so there wasn't much a difference. Lucas was still happy in the minor progress he made.
Lucas took a sip from his glass and savored the taste. Lucas again thought to continue his training in mana manipulation, but was soon interrupted by the loud commotion coming from the corner of the bar.
Furrowing his brows Lucas directed his attention towards there, in the opposite corner, dozens of youths similar in Lucas's age were drinking and laughing together, the commotion came from there.
Even though some guests were disturbed, eventually no one said anything.
Lucas could see a type of understanding and nostalgia from the eyes of the older passengers in the bar. Even the bartender only raised his head for once and then returned back to his work.
Lucas got curious, he closed his eyes and slowly concentrated his focus towards his ear, quickly Lucas's sense of hearing increased.
It was the combined effect of True Life Origin Scripture and passive ability of [Scan] in which the True Life Origin Scripture increased the body's ability for hearing and the passive ability of [Scan] helped him achieve the peak efficiency in short moments.
After a while, Lucas smiled faintly and shook his head, the youngsters were from a nearby school and were returning from some sort of gruesome training camp. It was their final training before the entrance exam. Lucas could now understand what the other passengers were feeling. They must have been through this situation when they were younger, and continued to see every year. It must not be anything new to them.
After some moments Lucas decided to withdrew his focus, but not before doing a simple sweep of the surroundings.
At the next instant many small whispering voices made their way to Lucas's ear. Lucas lips curled up, he thought.
'Listening to others secret…is….no not a good habit.'
Just as Lucas was going to withdraw his senses, he happened to listen to a conversation.
"F**….k, th…..at Merlin...….plan…..s…we…"
Lucas instantly opened his eyes and called System's assistance.
"Quick, filter that voice and find them."
[Ding! Scanning]
[Ding! Analyzing]
"What were they talking about? Were they talking about Uncle Merlin or someone else?"
Lucas rapped the table rhythmically with his fingers while sharpening his senses. Soon he found them. Lucas perked his ears and spiked his ears utmost.
Lucas could only hear small fragments of their conversation.
Lucas inwardly thought, 'They are not so far from here. So why can't I hear them.'
"A spell?" Lucas shook his head, if it was a spell, mana fluctuations would have been detected the moment they used the spell.
"A item? Yes, a magical item. That explains it. But still the magical item, it is really inferior to Uncle Merlin's spell."
Lucas from the corner of his eyes looked toward where the voice was coming from. On the side at a table two men were talking in a low voice. A younger one and an middle-aged man, The young man was at most in his late twenties, he was skinny and pale, he talked while lowering his head and shoulders down, his whole body language was screaming submission.
The middle-aged man sitting opposite of the younger man was a bald man with thick beard, his eyes filled with arrogance. He looked down on the young man with sharp chilling eyes, throughout the conversation, his voice was neither high nor low, it was completely cold and calm.
Lucas could see them talking to each other from the corner of his eyes. His eyes sparkled.
'System, can you read lips.'
[Ding! Scanning]
[Ding! Analyzing]
[Ding! Lip-reading possible. Starting programme.]
"Shut up, it was all your fault, what a great plan, hiding a tree in a forest. What a joke." The other person sneered derisively.
"How would I know that they will barge in on us suddenly?"
"Idiot, you should have been prepared. Every mission we do is dangerous. We are not here for playing."
Lucas slowly and casually scanned the whole place while listening to them.
"Do you know who much did I spend to get you out?"
"I…know…..but…I….I am the one who found….." at the end, the sound got smaller and smaller, nearly inaudible. Lucas narrowed his eyes and kept listening attentively, never for a moment Lucas turned his head.
"Yes, that's why you are still living?"
"We have to find the box or who among them was entrusted by him for transfer? We have already narrow down to five targets, did you get any information?"
Lucas swirled the wine in his glasses and stealthily glanced over the whole bar for once.
Lucas lowered his head and focused his gaze on the almost-empty wine in his glass as it was peerless treasure. Silently Lucas continued to listen.
The skinny young man continued, "Not much, they are a bunch of rich kids. To get close to them fast and getting into their circle, we need someone like them or we need to have something more than them."
Narrowing his eyes the middle-aged man took a light sip of the alcohol. "You want money?"
Lucas raised his head and called over a waiter to fill his glass, while he called out the waiter Lucas casually once more glanced at the whole bar.
"Not just money. I must have something valuable, something precious or rare that can attract their attention."
"You…you bastard…..Uhh" The middle-aged man was angry but soon let out a helpless sigh.
Lucas in his mind slowly dissected the whole bar and replayed every individuals actions. Suddenly Lucas noticed something different, a faint smile slowly crept on his face.
"So there were others, and four of them." Lucas thought in his mind. "Are all of them one group or different?"
"Most likely one or two of the four is just a look out. While others are following this group."
Lucas grinned as he watched the crimson red wine flowing inside the glass in his hand.
"Interesting, quite interesting." At least the journey will be fun.
"I will give you what you need. We need to find who has it before we reach Skyline City." The middle-aged man stressed again, "We have to find out, At all costs." After finishing what he wanted to say the middle-aged man walked out.
After that one by one exited the bar at different times through different doors.
"Hmm, What are they seeking for?"
"How is my Uncle involved in all this? Or is he involved in it?"
"Rich kids? Box? Transfer?"
"Who are these rich kids?"
Lucas finished his wine and slowly stood up."No matter what, let's just go with the flow. I need to return. Uncle Ivan must have came back."
Just at that moment, a door leading to the bar opened and a couple of youngsters came in laughing. Lucas immediately recognized them. They were the ones that tried to mock him previously.
Lucas couldn't hold back from smiling, "Are they the rich kids those two referring to?"
