Chapter 3 - A Giant Leap

"Good mornng Mr. Johannson." a middle aged who was mowing his lawn greeted upon seeing Peter.

"Good morning too, Uncle Murphy!" Peter greeted and nodded while hastily making his way to the bus stop.

This middle aged man is Uncle Murphy - Peter's neighbor. He works in a clothing company just near the main city. Peter calls him uncle - you know - neighbors.

When Peter reached the bus stop, there were already five students waiting there. One of them he know - because they always ride on the same bus - to school and on the way home and they go to the same school.

"Good morning Julie!" he greeted the little girl in uniform. Julie was a sixth grader in his school while he was in Senior High school so he is kinda like a brother to Julie. "How is your studies?" he continued.

"Oh hello Peter. School's good although I find it tough on certain subjects especially in Mathematics." the little girl replied upon seeing that it was Peter.

Julie was like a little sister to him so sometimes he help her with her homework on the way home. He grinned and said, "Oh, I think Mathematics would always be almost every student's problem at school. Okay, how about - when you attend your class in Math, jot down all the things that confused you and I will try to explain it to you on the way home."

'I remember when I was still in elementary - I really had a hard time with Math.' Peter thought to himself.

Julie's face flashed an expression of joy after hearing Peter's offer, "That's so nice of you, Peter. It would really be a great help to my studies. Thank you Peter." she thanked him like there is no tomorrow.

"This - ...no problem - hehe, I would always be glad to help." Peter replied awkwardly.

While they were talking about school, the bus have arrived and passengers started to embus so they also followed suit.

The bus they were riding is a double decker. Ever since Peter arrived here, he always sit on the second level. Up here he could enjoy the view of the city along the way - he never gets bored watching the city.

"Uhhmm, Peter?!" Julie suddenly blurted out.

Peter looked at her with a curious face, "..."

"I heard thay you are gonna graduate senior high school this year." said Little Julie.

"En, I'm really gonna miss being in senior high." Peter said with frown. Although he didn't have that many friends in school - he is still gonna miss his teachers and the school.

"So, do you have an idea of where you are gonna go fo college? I heard that there is a lot of great schools in the Main City." Julie inquired.

"This..- I still don't have a plan on where to go for college" Peter trying to think of something, he then said with a sudden realization " Oh! There will be entrance exams to colleges that would be held in our school. I would try if I would be lucky to get into one of those schools." he paused.

"Really?" Julie got excited for no reson, then said " So what course are you gonna take? Mathematics? Physics? Computer Techs?" questions just came falling down.

"Ahh-..." Peter was still thinking on how to reply to her flooding questions when he noticed that almost all of the passengers are looking at a certain direction.

The two of them then followed the direction of the crowd's gaze. It was a grand building with a futuristic look. The buildimg looks like it was coated with glass. The people around it can't seem to take their gaze away from the building.

"The grandeur of ASEA Cygnus Branch never fades at all." a person in the crowd praised in amazement.

"If I could only work for the association." a man in front of their seat sighed. It was really difficult to be hired by the association.

Amidst the amazement of the crowd, a display suddenly appeared on one of the building of ASEA. It was likely that there is an announcement.

"People of the District of Cygnus, we, the ASEA Cygnus Branch are proud to announce that our association has send a satellite that has an aim of observing our planet's climate and other things that would help us a lot in determining the next steps of humankind towards the protection of our planet." it was the ASEA Branch Director Manager who was speaking through the display.

This was the 7th satellite that the Cygnus Branch have sent to space since its founding.

The display soon blurred and thay building regain its original appearance. It is such a great achivement - sending a satellite to observe the planet.

The crowd started talking about that announcement, after all it is not a simple feat to send satellites to space - in the first place not all countries has a branch of ASEA or other smaller space associations.

The passengers continued to talked about the accomplishments of ASEA.

"Someday when I grow up and finish my studies I'm gonna work at ASEA. It is just a pity that I may not have the talents and skills they needed." Julie said while still looking at that building which is now gettin further as the bus goes on its way.

Peter looked at her with concern, " Come on now little girl, you are the best sixth grader I've known. I could tell that they would invite you to apply even when you do not try to." Peter cheered her up.

The little girl's face light up upon hearing what Peter said, "Really, alright I would see to it that they would not regret of hiring me in - in the near future. I am gonna do my best in my studies." Julie is now inspired by Peter's words.

Several minutes later, the bus stopped. They had already reached the school.
