Chapter 139 - Who Are You?

Harvest Condominium

Xu Jia Li woke up early the next day. Even if it was Sunday and there was no shooting, she couldn't find it to relax. She looked at the wall clock and saw that it was only seven o'clock in the morning.

Last night, she didn't even get to sleep well. She was preoccupied by the box inside her car. Though she didn't see what's inside, she knew based from Si Weimin's reaction that it wasn't good.

She even forgot about Jian Ran and the person who was behind her. Since she already had footages and Jian Ran's testimony, she could focus on the incident last night.

She tried her best to convince Si Weimin to tell her what's inside but he didn't budge. He just told her that she didn't need to see what's inside. It made her even more restless. They went home together on Si Weimin's car. Leaving her car for Wang Guo to drive as he followed behind.

She sighed as she pulled out the blanket. She couldn't calm down as she tossed and turned on her bed. She contemplated as she gazed at the ceiling. The more she thought of what happened, the more her instinct told her that it must have something to do with her revenge.

She flinched when she heard her doorbell rang. She wasn't expecting anyone. She slowed her pace waiting for the doorbell to stop ringing. When she reached the door cam, she saw a man outside. She hesitated for a moment.

What happened last night left her perplexed which was the reason she had no courage to open the door. Suddenly, she remembered Si Weimin. Since he was in the same floor as her, it would be easy for him to come.

She was about to turn and go back to her room to get her phone when she saw on the periphery of her vision the man he was about to call.

Si Weimin woke up from the ringing of his phone. It was only six in the morning. He furrowed his brows when he saw Ru Tengfei's number flashed on the screen. He felt lethargic since it was already four o'clock in the morning when he finally dozed off.

He couldn't take the content of the box off from his mind. He was glad that Xu Jia Li called him immediately. He clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white. It angered him that someone wanted to scare Xu Jia Li. He really wanted to know why someone did that.

The moment he opened the box, he was greeted by a pungent foul smell of four rotting sparrows. Their heads were decapitated. The stomachs of the birds were ripped open and the guts were scattered inside. There were also maggots slithering and moving inside. The gory sight was enough to make someone throw up. That's why he immediately closed the box.

How could he let his beloved see such sight? He promised to take care of her even if it meant sacrificing his own life. There were too many questions in his head that he direly needed the answers. Who put the box there? How did they do it?

Since the sparrows were four, it was a bad luck for Chinese. It was the unlucky number because it was nearly homophonous to the word 'death'. It clearly showed that someone behind that wanted to do Xu Jia Li harm.

Si Weimin even asked Wang Guo to check Koppa Bombana's cctv footages but the cameras in the parking lot were not working. He felt helpless. He even called the manager and told them what in the hell happened that their cctvs weren't working. However, even the manager was befuddled because she said that all their cctvs worked well. It was the first time that the cameras stopped working.

It was now clearer that someone was manipulating everything.

Suddenly, the ringing of his phone continued. He answered drowsily when Ru Tengfei's voice filled his ears.

"Boss, I checked the cctv footages."

"And?"

"Boss, they are real. There was no glitch. The cameras weren't breached."

Si Weimin's heavy eyes suddenly alerted. He got up from his bed and the sudden movement caused his head to throb painfully. He clenched his jaw as he put his free hand to his head.

"Boss, I really can't recover the deleted footages that night. Even the footages at Royal Night are deleted."

Ru Tengfei's words left Si Weimin's head to hurt. He grunted. Then with a cold and serious tone, he said, "I was inside Royal Night Club that night. I still have a sound mind to remember clearly. How can it be deleted? Are you losing your drive now?"

"Boss, it's an easy feat. That's why I'm also confused why I can't recover them."

"Can't you recover them?" Si Weimin asked peevishly.

"I tried but…"

"But what?"

"Every time I tried to recover them, someone always stopped me. He was manipulating the footages. I only know one person good enough to do that. It was the leader of Masters of Deception. However boss, he vanished a long time ago. Some say that he was killed. That's why their group became inactive."

"And that's the reason Legion of Doom dominated them," Si Weimin finished Ru Tengfei's words.

"That's right, boss. That's the reason our group became number one. If the leader of Masters of Deception didn't vanish, it would've been hard for us to thrive."

After the call ended, Si Weimin remained sitting on his bed. He was befuddled about the recent events. He didn't know what was happening anymore.

He quickly got up from his bed and went straight to the bathroom. After taking a bath and wearing a casual pull over and jeans, he immediately walked towards Xu Jia Li's apartment. Upon getting there, he saw a man standing outside. His heart pounded so fast that his breathing became irregular. He dashed forward and asked the man, "Who are you?"

The man looked at him from head to toe before he asked back in a hoarse voice, "Who are you?"

Si Weimin glared at the man as he became more alert, "What are you doing here?"

"What does that have to do with you? It's nothing to do with you. Just leave."

The man once again pressed the doorbell. Si Weimin's mind told him that something wasn't right with the man's attitude. If he was a delivery man, he should have been more polite. He spoke in a serious manner, "I'm not gonna ask again. Who are you and what are you doing here?"

The man threw a nasty grin on Si Weimin's way before he leisurely titled his head, clearly provoking him, "Don't barge where you are not needed."
