"..why? You knew you shouldn't have been there!"
"...I told you, even though i told you a dozen times!.."
"...consequences..."
"..someone has to pay.."
Mi jung found himself running. But he didn't know where. Why was he running in the first place? He went up to the rooftop and saw someone. But he couldn't see his face. Everything was so blurry and hazy. The person suddenly caught him by the arm and flung him inside a car. He felt the air getting knocked out of his lungs from the force he was thrown.
Mi jung started hitting the windows and tried to open the door frantically, pleading to be let out. There was no other cars around but he had a really bad feeling. He felt something bad was going to happen. The bigger man said something to him but he didn't know what was he talking about.
"..you know too much. Dying would be a better outcome for you."
"..you are an intelligent man, you already know what is going to happen, don't you?"
"...i am sorry but i had to do it..."
Did he know this person? He sounded awfully familiar. Suddenly mi jung got goosebumps, every hair on his body stood in attention, and cold sweat run down his back. He slowly turned his head to left to see a flying car come down uncontrollably fast. They were going to crash. Round tears dribbled down his face.
Mi jung opened his eyes abruptly and sprung out of his bed. He looked left and right trying to adjust himself. He was breathing heavily and his heart was hammering inside his chest. His back soaked with cold sweat. He gave a sigh and rubbed his face. Sunlight was coming from the window to the room.
"Are you alright?"
Hearing a voice made mi jung jump in bed. His senses were already high wire and someone speaking at that time made him scared senseless. He took a deep breath to calm down.
"Yes, yes i am okay. Just.. just a nightmare. You don't need to worry."
"Are you sure? You look pale."
"Yes, haneul. I am feeling alright."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
Mi jung opened his mouth to refuse but decided to ask him. His beautiful eyebrows creased with thinking of how to start speaking which made him look adorable in the eyes of the other.
"I.. haneul, how did i get into an accident?"
haneul raised his eyebrows, he certainly wasn't expecting to hear a question about this topic. But after recalling how mi jung said he had a nightmare and how he was out of it right now, haneul put the pieces together. Honestly everyone almost forgot about the accident after two months. Mi jung never asked about it either so no one went up to explain it throughly.
" We don't exactly know. That day we were in the studio for an interview and there was a loud crash happened on the rooftop. You were found inside one of the cars and there was a man on the other one. But the strange thing was, you weren't supposed to be on the rooftop and there was no footage of you going to rooftop nor the car crash. Later on the man turned out to be an anti-fan and investigators thought that he was trying to scare you but somehow lost control of the car causing the crash. And they closed the case. No one thought you would get out alive of that crash but you hanged on there and woke up from your coma. It was a real miracle."
"Just the two of us? There wasn't anyone else?"
"No, it was just you two. Did you recall something? Was there someone else with you?"
"I..don't know. I could not make out his face. A man with big build..he.."
After stopping for a second mi jung ceased the thoughts out of his head.
"Nevermind, it must be just a nightmare."
Even though mi jung dismissed the thoughts of a third person that might've been involved he had some doubts about it. But he still didn't have any information to hold onto except from his build and some conversations that wasn't making sense at all.
But he got goosebumps all over about this situation. What did the past mi jung do to deserve to die? And what that man said about 'dying being better than living' made mi jung feel very restless.
Now that he was alive and started to remember bits and pieces of memories from former mi jung, he was afraid of what to come.
A big sigh left mi jung's mouth. Of course heaven's wouldn't give him a second chance at life without taking something. Mi jung recalled what he read in his sick bed in his last life, words swirled around his head.
"You have to give up something to be able to take another."
He just hoped this miracle that gave him a second life wouldn't take this life of his as payment.
Haneul gave a thoughtful galance at mi jung. He felt guilty for what he did. Or more like what he didn't. He was feeling uncomfortable bacause the information he gave to mi jung was just one half of the truth and he wasn't planning to give the other half anytime soon.
