Chapter 53 - : Never Be The Same

Eun Young slapped Min Jae. Hard.

The impact on her palm left a stinging sensation. But still, it was no match for the pain she was feeling in her heart. Eun Young clenched her hands tightly into fists.

"F*** you!" She venomously hissed. Tears began rolling down her cheeks but she made no move to wipe them off. "I never asked you to love me back. When I knew you were fooling around with other women, I didn't react nor did I try to stop you. I let go of my dignity as a woman and a wife. I let go of my dignity as a person for crying out loud! And this... this is what I f****** get?!" She vented.

Min Jae was speechless. This was the very first time he saw her outraged and she was right... about all those things. She was patient with him when he didn't deserve it. She cared for him even though he never asked for it. And all he ever did was take her for granted.

Eun Young's eyes were filled with hatred as she began to speak again. "I feel disgusted just by looking at you right now." She blurted. "I don't even f****** want to know how the kids will look at you when they someday come to realize how much of a f****** bastard you are!"

Her sharp words struck him like lightning. It was as if a pail of iced water was thrown at him. And he couldn't possibly say something to save himself because they were all true. This is what he wanted, wasn't it? He wanted her to leave, just like the other people he met--just like the other people in his life.

"Eun Young... I'm confused. Why are you--" Another slap landed on his cheek before he could finish his sentence.

"What the f*** are you talking about? You're confused?!" She screeched. Fortunately, no one was around and the children weren't home either. "Do I even need to remind you that you once went f****** around women that you actually managed to get one pregnant?!" Eun Young scoffed. "Tell me, huh?! Aren't I supposed to be the one confused here?!"

In that moment, Min Jae's eyes were wide in shock. Did he hear it right? It couldn't be true! It couldn't be... Looking at Eun Young, he found the answer he dreaded. It was very clear. The pain and the sadness in her eyes were real. Her heartbreak was most definitely real. "I..." He trailed off, finding no words to help him.

Eun Young wiped off her tears and nodded. "You know what? I could've suffered alone by myself. I understand that you don't love me and that's okay... Because I could've still happily lived my life loving you without getting anything else in return." She said. Eun Young lightly laughed. "I was stupid, aren't I? I just thought that maybe... maybe I could do it. I thought I could love you even if no one would."

"Eun Young..." Min Jae helplessly whispered. He was internally cursing himself--for hurting her, for being such vile monster... and for wanting to hug her despite all that he's done. He wanted to apologize, but what good would that do? The only person who truly cared for him finally had enough.

He swallowed. And for the first time, he really doesn't know what to do. All he knows was that his heart was hurting so much. This was the very thing he was avoiding. This is why he never wanted to be close to anyone. But it still happened and it was all his fault. "Eun Young..." He desperately whispered as he took another step closer.

"I said don't f****** touch me!" Eun Young screamed and tears began to flow from her eyes again. Exasperated, she sat at the sofa and covered her face as she cried.

She was raised well by her parents. As she grew up, they never made her feel unloved and insignificant hence, this torturous feeling was foreign to her. She never understood why people described heartbreak the way they do. When she read about it, she often thought they were exaggerated to make a point. It wasn't until she experienced it herself that she was able to truly relate to that agonizing feeling--that feeling of losing that essence of what makes you alive... that feeling of tremendous sadness and pain that makes you think you might've been better dead than you were alive.

Min Jae fell to his knees beside Eun Young. He let out a sigh and few moments later, he muttered. "I'm sorry."

They remained like that, neither speaking to each other for what seemed like an eternity. Soon, it will be dawn. The sun will rise and it will mark a new day. When daylight shines on the walls of this house, everything had already changed. Things will never be the same again.

Eun Young abruptly stood up. She wiped her face and took a deep breath. Her eyes were reddish and puffy from crying. Regardless, her expression was stoic. She picked up the folder from the sofa and threw it in front of Min Jae.

"She wants you to contact her." Eun Young said indifferently. "Talk to her and take responsibility for what you've done. You enjoyed f****** her, didn't you? Enjoy raising that innocent child as well."

Eun Young walked past him. She was about to head upstairs when she suddenly recalled something. Stopping momentarily, she spoke without even turning to look at him. "By the way, when you see her, tell her to never show her face to me ever again. Or so help me I'd willingly lose my license to finish that b**** off!" And with that, she proceeded without another word.
