Chapter 10 - Ticking Time Bomb

Just stay calm and farm it out. That was the mentality Nobody Cares had right now. Even as their top and bot lanes were being slaughtered they still might have a chance as long as they were getting gold by killing minions. Of course they wouldn't be as strong as their opponents, but the more they could cut their losses the better a shot they had at coming back.

"What are they doing?" The opposing jungle just shook his head after teaming up with his top laner to kill Rina again. "Their lanes are getting destroyed and their jungle hasn't even tried to help yet?"

"They must be a mess right now. I'm betting the jungler is mad as heck."

"I bet the laners are more mad."

But while the opposing team was joking around speculating how mad Miranda and the others were right now, everyone on Nobody Cares was simply moving forward in stride. Rina was being destroyed, but she didn't call for Miranda's help. Jacob and Archie were being destroyed, but they didn't call for Miranda's help.

The reason was simple, Miranda couldn't really help. Calling her over was a waste of time unless they could kill the opposing laner or at least set up a situation to later kill the opposing laner. Opportunities weren't being presented that she could capitalize on and it would only end up being even worse for her to try to force a play with a low likelihood of success.

"This is so… agh!" Rina was pulling in her hair in frustration as she was killed off yet again.

"Just stay calm?"

"How can I stay calm?!" But even while Rina filled the voice chat with her frustration, she very precisely used a Warp Tonic. The Warp Tonic consumable allowed the user to travel to a targeted friendly Pillar, minion, or beacon. Rina used hers to travel back to her Pillar and returned to last hitting minions without daring to engage her opposing counterpart.

Miranda patted her on the back. "It'll work out."

"How?"

"Worst comes worst we lose and we're out. We'll still get a pretty good grade."

"Do you not even care about winning?!"

"As I had fun and did my best, no, not really."

Rina fumed silently.

"Think of it this way. You can spend all your time worrying about winning or you can spend that same time having fun. As long as you try your best and are better than your opponent, winning will follow."

"Since when were you a philosopher?"

"I've always been a philosopher." Miranda lifted her hands off the controls and mimed sipping from a cup of tea. "Isn't every word I speak wisdom?"

Kelly and Archie laughed, Jacob was still concentrating intensely. Rina gave Miranda a weird look but she didn't seem as angry as before.

"What happened my jungle?"

"What do you mean Blake?"

"My lizards are missing. Did you take them?"

"No, of course not."

"Hey! My squirrels are missing too!"

Blake ground his teeth in frustration. If his laners weren't taking his camps, then who was? The enemy jungler? But her lanes were being stomped! She should be trying to help them! After all, it wasn't like she could solo carry her team. Even with the Elementalist's help it wasn't possible, was it?

Miranda hummed the 'Pink Panther' theme as she cleaned all the camps out of the enemy jungle and then went to clear her side as well. Her build was not meant for teamfighting. In a teamfight, she would be blown up almost instantly. Every item she had contributed to killing camps faster, lifesteal, or moving around the map faster.

She placed stealth beacons in the enemy jungle. The enemy didn't clear them. Miranda had no idea why they didn't, but if they weren't she was going to take full advantage of the situation. Whenever she saw the opposing jungler gank a lane, she would use a Warp Tonic if necessary to get into the enemy jungle as fast as possible and clear it out.

"There goes top Pillar."

Rina retreated leaving her Pillar to be destroyed. After all, if she had stayed the enemy would just kill her and then destroy the Pillar anyways. As if by clockwork the bottom lane outer Pillar also fell to the enemy.

"Woohoo! Good job team! That's already two Pillars down!"

"Man this is so easy!"

[The Chimera has been slain!]

"...What the f*ck?"

"Are you serious?"

The Chimera was one of three bosses in the jungle, super strong camps that gave powerful buffs when killed. These bosses usually took five avatars to clear or at least three.

The Chimera was weakest boss and had four different forms that each granted a team wide buff when killed. The Lion form gave +5% attack damage and ability power, the Goat form gave +1% max health regen, the Chicken form gave +10% move speed, and the Snake form gave 2% max health bonus damage. Each time the chimera died it would respawn after a while with a new form and when all four forms were killed from then on it would spawn as a Great Chimera which doubled all friendly Chimera buffs.

"Whatever, it was just Chicken form. We're still up in gold. Now all we have to do is group and siege down mid turret."
